GARAGE LIFE - OLDTIMER VOLKSWAGEN "SERVICE AND REPAIR" WORKSHOP
Proud to present my last MOC: an OLDTIMER VOLKSWAGEN "SERVICE AND REPAIR" GARAGE for the VW BULLI/BUS/SAMBA/KOMBI.
About this creation

Besides my passion for LEGO bricks I've always been involved in vintage car and motorcycle issues and I have always been fascinated by “garage life”.
For this reason, after having built the last few years almost exclusively 1/13 scale trucks, last winter I devoted myself to a new project: a workshop for vintage VW Transporter (especially T1 and T2).

The idea comes out from LEGO set #10220 which I bought in 2011 and has remained MISB (Mint In Sealed Box) until a few months ago. Then I built it transformig it in a canvas pickup (I presented it 3 weeks ago on flickr and MOCpages).
In order to build the internal of the workshop I watched my real garage where I used to spend a lot of time restoring and repairing old motorcycles and bicycles.

There are many tools and details in the workshop. Let’s take a look.
A workbench, with wrenches and vise, is positioned at the center of the workshop. There are also a mobile roller cabinet with four drawers and the air compressor. Beside the workbench is positioned a column drill press (is one of the pieces that I prefer in this moc).
Close to the right door there is the oxy-acetylene welder. There is also the folding engine crane.
There are others little details in this garage which I like very much. Thanks to Stag (and his superb moc “Hangar”) and Konajra (and his great moc “Oldtimer restoration”) for the inspiration of some details.

Last winter I spent many nights to build this workshop and I'm very satisfied with this MOC.

My Canvas T1 comes out from the garage after a check... It's all right now!

The doors are closed but the guys are working hard. Don't worry, come in!

Above, the garage in plain sight. Don't miss the details.

Soon probably others Transporter will be recovered in this garage… wait and see!
That’s all folks!

Quoting Sieglinde Schnötzinger Hello Andrea! Thank you for your helpfull informations! Yesterday I just ordered the magazine BLOCKS #11 to have a look at all the photoes and read the report. Also I ordered the magazine BRICKS, which I saw in your pages, to see the Vespa garage and that special report. I also like your speed garage very much, but don't know, if there is also a magazine where I can find pictures and a report about that project. Where can I find/buy all these special pieces you need for building your project(s), for examples the Castrol schield or all the other labled parts and so on? We are living in Austria, next to your country - are you far away from Brennero? Have a nice day and thank you! Kind regards from your "neighbour" Sieglinde
Hi Sieglinde, about the Speed Garage you can read the full story on the 2016 february issue of Brick Journal; it'll be an issue dedicated to top LEGO car builder and there will be a feature on my works (and that's great!). Take a look here http://twomorrows.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=98_78&products_id=1227&zenid=28c1011b997f931861f2a7fefe5fda79 On the cover there's my name; the issue is not available yet, wait few days for the new issue. About the pieces, you can buy all the pieces on www.bricklink.com The stickers instead are made by myself with a dedicated software. I live in Milan. Please if you need further informations email me: andrea_lattanzio@hotmail.com Thanks for your interest on my works. All the best and Happy building! Norton74 - Andrea

Quoting Sieglinde Schnötzinger Hello Andrea! It's great, I'm speechless - you are a big artist! My husband has exactly the same interests and great love for old VW buses and old motorcycles - he gathers and repairs/restores both. Your garage and service station would be the perfect gift for him, so I'm totally unhappy that I can't buy this creation - what should I do? Can you help me? Best regards from Tyrol, Sieglinde
Hello, thanks for your kind words and support, it's very appreciated. The only thing I can suggest is trying to build the Garage by yourself...well it's not easy but it's not impossible. You can also take a look at my flickr for more pictures: https://www.flickr.com/photos/norton74/ If you want to be updated about my builds, follow me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/andrea.lattanzio.73/ Consider also that the VW Garage is on LEGO Ideas and if I reach 10.000 votes LEGO could consider to make the Garage an official set. This is the link, you can vote it (before you have to create an account): https://ideas.lego.com/projects/77930 Last but not least you can give to your husband a copy of Blocks magazine in which my Volkswagen Garage and buses are featured, with a very cool article: https://www.flickr.com/photos/norton74/albums/72157656435401161 Do you live in Italia? I do. That's all! Thanks again and happy new year! Norton74 - Andrea Lattanzio

Quoting Giorgio Ferrannini Straordinario. Semplicemente straordinario!
Grazie ancora. Ciaoooo

Quoting Verticus Akkron This model is so good, there's basically nothing wrong with it! I especially love such subtle pieces of building as the signs out front, folding doors, the tarpaulin rolled up in the back of the truck, and the broom, sink, and radio. All of your mini tools are built to perfection. Fantastic! I was a bit concerned with the integrity of the horizontal girders over the model, though. It seems like the amount of pieces hanging on them--flags, lights, etc.--would create too much weight for them to grip the walls the way you have them do. If you designed this for real, then I suppose there is no issue, but if you built it virtually maybe you could see about adding a diagonal brace between it and the wall farther down. Besides that, superb job!
Thank you for your nice words. Comments like yours are very important to me and push me to continue to build new MOC ... Thanks again and enjoy!

What a great build. This has that very pronounced throwback look to a time when auto garages had less grease on the floors than the mechanics had in their hair;) There are so many great details here that it's impossible to name them all, but here goes: I love, first of all, the checkered paint job all the way around the wall, brought together by the flags hanging from the girders. I also like the vintage VW truck pulling in. What really brings this whole thing together is the small items that make this a garage. What I see here is a sink for washing greasy hands, a fire extinguisher, a jack, some overhead lights, an air compressor, (brilliantly represented), a work table, a tool box, a tool chest, (also brilliantly represented), a drill, a push broom, a couple cones, a boom box, and, (my personal favorite), skids with various important-looking details on them. I could go on about this MOC, but I will cut it off here. Really a superb piece of work.

Wow, wow, wow! That's real vintage-life capture! From the green colour of the column-drill-press, futher the radio, the come-in-open-sign, until the the sheer organized-working layout, - everything is so much likely authentic! I Most like the crane, and the neon-lights, - they are so typically garage-life ( and of course the radio-tape-recorder).
