Ok, here I have made a couple of changes in an attempt to make it more show accurate, but also with an idea of how I might, at some point, make this guy actually transform.
The tank treads are now on his elbows, this reflects an aspect of the original toy version, rather than the show version, and I am only 50% convinced it didn't look better before.
The chest and soulders are now wider and bulkier, but it means the mid section is far less prominent. I may add a stud length to the overall height to extend the mid section so we can see his four pack.
Both this and the last version have new forearms, this was to give them a more tubular look, since the original character is all rounded edges. Problem is it places the gun further away from the elbow, making it seem too far forward in some angles. Plus in the original character model there is a two section forearm that includes a grey area near the inner elbow, which non of my designs have.
In order to even attempt a transformation, the figure needs some adjustments, and unfortunately some of them may have to take it away from show accuracy even further than before.
Head needs to collapse into chest area, and forth crown section added at rear.
Legs need to collapse into thighs or inot waist section
Purple section on back needs to be made grey and hinged to form tripod leg / handle
Tank treads need to be on hinge to move them up onto bicep in rpbot form
Forearms need to be hidden inside bicep or disguised somehow
Feet need to be made to fold into shins.
Some of these elements may be easier to achieve with a partial redesign of the main torso and a major redesign of the limbs. In the end tge original g1 toy had a very simple transformation, but retaining a good robot mode and keeping the transformation mechanics will be impossible - the original toy was basically rubbish compared to the cartoon model.
We will see, i don't often spend this long on a single model and I am kind of loosing patience, but we will see how version 7 turns out. I will post spme images once i have something i like.
