Originally my May challenge entry. Unfortunately, life happens. Along with java security problems, school, death, and taxes. This follows up on my character intro story, so please read that before proceeding. Hope you like it!
About this creation

Lieutenant Henry Codder, the Aurelis' on board spy, and the boarding party stood before the last dark zone (scan proof area) on the civilian-disguised GI freighter they had been tailing.

"Well," said the spy, "This the last compartment. There better be something in here."

Henry Codder radioed in their command ship, "ANV Belfast, this is the strike team. We've found the last dark zone. Permission to proceed, Captain?"

"Permission granted. Good luck boys."

"How do you plan on getting through that door?" the spy asked, "I don't see any switch panel."

Henry smiled. "Private, show this man how we knock."

The Aureli spy went wide-eyed as the private stepped forward with a large piece of equipment.

"I knew you guys delivered, but dang-"

"-what is that?"

"Laser cutter prototype. Picked it off a GI shipment, and I gotta say, it's my favorite toy!"

"Now, how we comin' with that door, private?" Henry inquired.

"Almost got it..."

"Done, sir! Ready for explosive charge."

The private retreated as the sergeant set the charge.

"Combat positions, I want everybody ready to move in when that door blows!"

The bomb exploded, knocking the the cut plates of the door out of place.

"Go,go, go!", Codder shouted.

Gunfire erupted from the compartment, killing one Aureli soldier and knocking another flat on his stomach.

The lieutenant took back his order. "Pull out of the line of fire!"

The wounded soldier did just that, dragging himself out of the way.

"Sergeant, who are they?"

The sergeant peaked just around the door.

He jerked back just as a bullet struck just by him. "Henry, they're ICS!"

"Great!" Henry thought. Intelligence Combat Support. They were charged with guarding the Imperium's most secure facilities, and did most of their covert ops. They were highly trained and very, very dangerous.

His thoughts were confirmed as another Aureli stepped forward-

-and was felled by gunfire.

"D@mn Imperials!" Codder's 2nd lieutenant cursed as he returned fire.

One ICS soldier was struck.

But a volley of fire from the remaining defenders-

He collapsed the deck where he bled out.

This was not looking good.

The operative spoke up, "Well, they must have something of interest!"

Then Henry had an idea:

"Who's gotta flashbang?"

The wounded soldier pulled himself to his feet and produced one from his pockets.

It was now or never. "Toss it!"

Henry raised his shotgun, "Charge!"

The remaining strike team burst into the room.

One man jumped the barrier.

Though dazed, the ICS soldier managed to grab the Aureli.

He tossed him headfirst into a crate.

Fortunately, the sergeant intervened before things got too hairy.

"Thanks, I'm okay."

A man popped his head over the container. He was armed.

Codder blasted him with buckshot.

He hit him spot on.

Over two hundred years since it's creation and the shotgun was still an effective weapon.

The last Imperial regained his vision and took aim at the fusion reactor view port.

The spy sighed with relief as the smoke dissipated in the room. "That dude almost flooded this compartment with enough radiation to cook Mombassa! Whatever is in here, it's got to be big!"

Henry agreed. "Alright, anything that looks important we are taking with us!"

A soldier stood over by a table in the corner. "These monitors are hooked up to camera feeds. They knew we were coming."

"Lieutenant, I think this is it!"

"Wow, sergeant."

Sure enough, there was a large, computer locked crate.

"Hey, if it fits it ships!" Codder joked, before turning on his communicator.

"ANV Belfast, this is the strike team. We've sustained heavy casualties, but we've found something."

Aboard the Belfast, the Captain received the news. "Goodwork, lieutenant. But we're pushed for time-"

"Our assets in the Earth Naval Defense grid report that we've got a battle group headed this way. They'll intercept us in T-minus 16 minutes. Gather what you have and depart immediately. We'll be departing for Fuyorai as soon as your craft hits the hangar deck."

"Understood, ma'm."

"Alright, lets see if you've been doing your pull-ups! Let's move this thing!"

Wow, cool story with great pacing. I still wonder why they didn't contact Qoter instead of Earth last episode. I don't know where the story is going, but my guess is that there is a person/alien/cyborg or some such in the crate. I like the details on this build, like the laser cutter and the insectoid leg things as a door frame. Looking forward to the next installment.
