A PF-powered Lego 4x4 rock crawler. 2 XL-motors for driving and 2 M-motors for steering. This has a Link Extension System L.E.S suspension, which gives superb articulation to axles compared to normal way of links are installed. A car Disney and Rovio should have done.
About this creation
Compared to Lego's own 9398 Crawler
Where Lego 9398 crawler has 1 L-motor on axle, this has 1 XL-motor and 1 M-motor roughly on the same space. Steering is just 2 axles and 3 gears.
This has a Link Extension System L.E.S, which gives a better articulation to axles comparing to normal way of links are installed.
Normal links attachment allows some +/- 25 degrees articulation, but L.E.S allows up to +/- 60 degrees.
That means up to 120 dgr between axles.
With L.E.S you can get better flexibility than 4-link system and you can still use
that center axle throughput for steering etc.
Makes very flexible suspension.
So, L.E.S is MORE ....
Normal links attachment allows some +/- 25 degrees articulation
L.E.S allows +/- 60+ degrees
And is simple system too
And here is L.E.S installed to 9398 Crawler
LDD-pic of 9398 with L.E.S. I modified the axles little bit so that they can be chained.
Here is a 6 x 6 version. With L-motors Not an AMG-version ;)
41999 6 x 6 mod
RC car style controller, makes driving easier
Additional controller, if needed
And Single-handed version too.
Thumb up, turn right. Thumb down, turn left.
Very useful when you want to do something else with your other hand, like eating chocolate-bunnies ;)
Steering is available for rear axle too, but it's not mechanically connected to front axle
Link Extension system in action
Battery-box serves as body too.
A note: 2 XL-motors are slightly too much for this battery box. Overload protector in BB hits too often, so I just bypassed it ;)
Suspension modified, once again.. Now using these damped shock absorbers 32181c02
And again... shocks lower end turned. Best so far mod. Much better on uphills.
