It is always battle what proves usability of every war machine. After the successful colonisation of Blacktros moon - Niorn, Atritians led by mage Nox have soon find out they need to adapt their warfare in major way. Their enemy - Blacktron were not usual enemy with big cruisers and fighters that could be easily ovepowered with Atritian superior tech, powerfull shields or robust firepower. Blacktros - Blacktrons homeworld was perfectly adapted for their sneaky way of living. Blasktron acutally does live in vast systems of caverns that for systems of corridors that penetrates Blacktros surface like holes in cheese. Since that, aside from collapsing them with heavy bombarding, there was no chance to defeat them. More importantly, Atritians needed informations and technology that Blacktron have stolen, not their lives. So, hoevrcrafts were the only option to attack. Mossador was inspired by my favorite prehistoric marine reptile - mosasaur. Its reptile-like elegance, versatility, top size and keen senses were most appealing to me. Mossador has massive body with six large flippers that can move him in any directions with moving their engines. It can walk, hover, fly and swim. His snake-like body can bend and fit into crooked catacombs that Blacktron live in. Beside lethal senses of its namesake, Mossador is surpisingly effective due its style of fight. He approaches its target- usually cruisers or superioraty fighters from behind and penetrate its shields, as it is not energy shot, but crude material thing. Then it uses its big jaws and crush ships most vulnerable parts (usually cockpits) to diable it. Then it use cannon in its mouth to melt ships contains and then suck it and use it as its fuel. So, Mossadors literally "feed" on enemy ships and since that the can be remain in action for very long. Sometimes Mossadors dont destroy ship, but by holding in is mouth it delivers it to base to be inspected and used for contains. After time, Blactron had to recede into their much deeper catacombs, where hungry Mossadors could not fit. Mossadors did not managed to completely reign Blactros atmoshpere, but have forced Blactros use their fleet to escort every little ship so it could not be hunted by Mossadors. But, more striders are the way to bite more deeple in technology-abundant candy named Blacktros.

Idea note – sparing ships with strider usage : Striders are class of war machines that are adapted more for athmospheric and surface warfare than for direct space battles. As these situations use to lead to heavy casualties of mechs pilots, Atritian striders have some special features. They are pilotless, and are often controlled by Phantoms or Black Souls from afar. They are amphibious, and that means that they can rapidly recede to space, underwater, to underground or some cave system to hide when injured. Also, they have multiple ways of getting energy, and that means they can literally scavenge of enemy ships wreck and use its materials to either repair itself or to „digest“ it as a fuel.
Idea note – analogy betweeen hovering and underwater movement. : Mossador is the biggest strider, and he has a leader position among all class of striders. As it was meant to be the strongest one, I decided to use design of my favorite prehistoric marine predator - mosasaur. Few modifications were applied : Mossador has six main limbs (as I like many-limb creatures), his belly has another five pairs of lesser limbs and its tail is little shorter than in its namesake. Additionaly, Mossador has energy tentacles, which are half material and half spell used to attacke enemy. Their rapid movability helps strider to pull enemy soldiers from their ships and kill it outside it, they can also destroy torpedos or little flyers around strider.
Picture nicely shows typical Atritian proportions of Mossador – dragon-like, sleek and curved, with multiple wings and tentacles, with segmental body, with slightly modified color scheme.
Head detail. I tried to make it according mossasaur one. It is sleek, much more high than wide, long with dinosaur-like feel.
Functionally, head is main Mossadors weapon, main sensory organ, digestive and manipulation unit, but not the brain. As it is the most targgated part, Atritian engineers situated computer cores to the chest and abdomen, to better protect them.
Topmost part of head is actually a cockpit that can house a pilot wherever nessesary.
Idea note - “lifeboat cokcpit“ : Internal anathomy of head. You can see that between maxillae, there is a second jaw with teeth. This part is called pharyngeal jaws and are typical for mossasaurs. They were meant to drag prey into mossasaurs oesphagus, here they have another usage. They actually hold cocpits and are just loosely attached to rest of head. Cocpit can reattach and be used as lifeboat when nessesary.
You can see that Mossador has a drilling cannon in place of his throat. Its purpose is to either kill ship that is held between teeth or to recede it into molten metal that can be sucked and used in abdomen as a fuel or repairment material.
Thorax anathomy. It has three segments that can bow in sagital and transversal plane to enable big machine like Mossador to fit into caves.
You can see how simple is the actual joint. I had to reduce mass around joint to enable strider to bow. As I an no expert in mecha + LDD is terrible for moving things, I tried to apply technique that i know and use vertical beams to compress joint parts. More importantly, I had to make thje joint so loose as mossasaurs probably had serpent-like movements in contrast to pliosaurs and lpesiosaurs, which bodies remained stiff during swimming.
Thoracic parts are made from identical lateral parts that are use as shoulder and pelvic girdle (cingulum in anathomical speech), and between them are parts that have slots for pilots.
Black shells are meant to mimick abdominal, pectoral and dorsal muscles.
Internal anathomy. Cockpits and computer cores uncovered. Strange parts with holders are emant to be senosora organs like lateral line in fish to detect movement around it, but actual mossasaur probably lacked it, as it was retpile and not fish.
Idea note – flippers in perpendicular planes : As strider, Mossador most important ability is maneuverability and hovering , not speed primarily. Since that, engines have to be most movable. Both segmets have main engine that is rotable in same plane as segemnt,and two others rotable in perpendicular plane. Proximal segment is predominantly for propulsion, distal is for hovering.
Unluckily, I was not able to make photo abdominal parts. They are equipped with more simplistic flippers with only one plane of movements. Their vetnral parts are covered with tooth-like rotating particles, that is designed for devouring molten material to be stored or burned.
Tail. Bulbous parts are energy vaults that store energy to be used when needed. As in lizards, it can be cut and released, whenever Mossadors shields are overpowered with energies from enemy shots.
Simplistic anathomy of tail is designed to deliver blows with it to smash enemy or to deliver enrgy bursts that enegines produce to determine Mossadors direction as in mossasaur, tail was main tool of propulsion.
All trunk is equipped with lots of cannons to look after enemy flyers and particulary torpedoes.

I plan to do two lesser "dinosaurs" - one as plesiosaur and one as pliosaur to complement Mossador. Also, one Illirin chaser as remake of old Earon and one Exporien cruisers are on the way. Unluckily, my LDD dot work good so I am unable to make anything bigger than cruisers, so no battleship on the way yet. How is your project going?
