My first LoM Rank Challenge...
About this creation
Finally our heroes have arrived in the town of Bourne. Once a proud and happy town, now fouled by its self appointed saviour and leader, The Wolf. The Wolf once served alongside Sir Maxwell, but betrayed The Lion Knight, driving him into exile and wounding his eye. Sir Maxwell and Jackson recently met up with Burnli Doubledwarf, who agreed to help the pair liberate the town from its monstrous leader. The three heroes found the town to be almost empty, most of its residents too afraid to walk the streets. Many of The Wolf’s men had also abandoned the town, it seems that their loyalty did not come for free...

“Just as I said. The town is not too heavily guarded.” Said Burnli.

“That may be so,” said Sir Maxwell, “But the damage has already been done. This was once a happy town, full of life and merriment.”

“It doesn’t seem too merry now” replied Jackson.

Suddenly several armed men appeared, blocking the trio’s path.

“Well if it isn’t The Lion Knight... and his two handmaidens!” Shouted one of the soldiers, getting a good laugh from the other men.

“Make all the jests you want. We have come to overthrow your master and free the town of Bourne. Either stand down, or embrace your fate!” shouted Sir Maxwell. Although he had seen a fair few winters since his youth, the man was still no pushover.

“The old lion can still roar, but does he still have his claws?” shouted one of the soldiers, charging towards Sir Maxwell...

“Have it your way” said the knight, clashing swords with the soldier...

The two exchanged slashes and parries, Maxwell’s speed was surprisingly fast for the younger man...

For a split-second the younger of the two warriors dropped his guard. Sir Maxwell’s blade pierced through the man’s torso. Though old, The Lion Knight was still too much for this young soldier.

Meanwhile, Jackson charged at the next man...

With his long axe, Jackson knew that he had the range to end this quickly...

And quick it was. Before the man could even raise his sword he heard a loud cracking sound. He did not have enough time to fathom that the cracking sound was made by his own skull connecting with an axe-head.

The final soldier was looking slightly nervous. No doubt realising that he was on the losing team. He decided that standing down may be the safest option.
“Okay, Halfdwarf! I yield. I know when I have been bested.” Pleaded the man.

“Halfdwarf? I do not care for that name. Nor do I care for being called a handmaiden.” Growled Burnli.

Burnli then charged at the man, swinging his large hammer...

Burnli’s hammer connected with the man’s helmet with a loud thud, sending the soldier to the ground.

With The Wolf’s men taken care of, there was one thing left to do.

“SHOW YOURSELF, WOLF!” roared The Lion Knight.

“Your reign of terror here has come to an end! Come and face justice for your crimes!”

Moments later The Wolf arrived, carrying his wolf’s head helm.

“Greetings, Lion Knight. You’re looking much older than I remember. But then again, so am I.” Said The Wolf. “How many years has it been now?”.

“I have not come here to chat. I have come to remove this world from the likes of you. Too long have you brought misery and suffering to those unfortunate enough to encounter you.” Growled Sir Maxwell.

“Three against one seems a little unfair to me, Maxwell.” Said The Wolf, gesturing to Jackson and Burnli.

“They will not interfere. You have my word. This is between you and I.” Replied Sir Maxwell.

The Wolf nodded and donned his helm. Although they were enemies, he knew that Maxwell was a man of his word.

The two old knights approached each other, waiting to strike like their animal namesakes...

The Wolf made the first move, slashing at The Lion Knight, who blocked the strike...

Sir Maxwell pressed forwards...

The blow was a powerful one...

The Wolf returned the strike...

Maxwell blocked the attack, but it took all of his strength to do so...

Maxwell fell to the ground and The Wolf struck. His sword connected with The Lion Knight’s leg with a loud clang. The blade did not pierce the armour, but Maxwell felt the pain run through his leg...

Ignoring the pain, Maxwell kicked out at The Wolf, sending him stumbling backwards...

Now was The Lion’s turn to strike...

Maxwell’s sword connected with The Wolf’s head. It did not pierce the helm, but it was enough to daze The Wolf and send him to the floor...

“YIELD!” cried The Wolf, “I yield! You have won, Maxwell. Please show me mercy!”.

“Mercy?!” roared The Lion Knight, “Have you shown mercy once in your miserable life? However, I will show you mercy now. Although I should kill you for all you have done to me, it is not for me to decide your fate. You have brought misery to the people of this town. I place you under arrest, sir, and your fate shall be decided by the people of Bourne!”

With The Wolf and his men overthrown, the town of Bourne was free again. Now the townspeople can start to get on with their lives...
