My first castle build in a long time. This was also the build used in both part one and part two of my LOM intro. It was meant to be just for fun, but when I joined LOM, I thought it would be perfect for my intro.
Eska En Calen Mir means "Home of the Green Jewel" in elvish. I gave it this name because of the green jewel hidden in the secret chamber. This build contains an underground chamber (entrance through the tree trunk), castle courtyard ruins, my best landscaping, and a tree with a very deeply hidden secret. There is also a very special feature in the hidden chamber...
I got SECOND PLACE with this build, while another build I entered received FIRST PLACE in my County Fair! It was very exciting, as was all the positive comments i received. Onto the build!
About this creation
An overall view of the MOC, although you mainly see the front.
Front view. You can also see the lettering along the border.
Mid-right side view.
A view from the lower right corner. I made a patch of overgrown plants in both corners of the lower half. It seemed that it was just the right amount of vegetation and created just the right overgrown yet still nice landscaping.
A picture of the vegetation and tree trunk. This is by far my best tree, although I wish I had more tree pieces.
An overall lower left view. I really like the landscaping in this creation. You'll be hearing me say that a lot.
The pathway leading up to the ruins. I think the path turned out really nice. I had light tan in the path at one point, but it was just too light. It didn't look right.
The ruins wall next to the entrance. I was going to put statues in the little overgrown areas you see, but i realized I didn't have the right grey pieces, so I changed them to overgrown plant beds, along with a decaying skull and axe. They are good for fertilizing the soil you know...
A view of most of the complete ruins. Oddly enough, the fountain still seems to be in working condition.
The rock cliff and ruins on this side of the build.
This where the false part of the tree trunk breaks away to get to the spiral staircase.
The hallway leading to the chamber.
A full overview of the hidden chamber. Ok, that picture looks upside down. I don't know why. Yes, the torches light up. And they flicker. Thank you Brickstuff!
The bookshelf and small table.
Treasure chest, table with scrolls and maps, and weapons. You can also see the decorative floor.
A close up view of the light up torches.
A final parting picture.
"No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path." -Buddha
Sorry. I couldn't just have my last picture be of a path and not put a quote with it.
This has been my first worthy castle build in a while and I must say there wasn't a better time for me to make it.
My biggest deal with this build was to figure out some good landscaping techniques. And I think I have enough ideas and techniques to last me for a while now.i was also working on my castle architecture. Although there isn't much in the build, I wanted to get my creative juices flowing and see if castle is good for me. I think it is definitely something I am going to do more often. Especially now that I am in LOM. Next step, work on rock work and village type buildings... Yeah, that is going to be bit harder.
I want to put up a silent video tour of the build up on the page, but the uploader has been slow. I will keep trying. In the introduction, I said that this, along with another build, would be entered in my county fair. If I get anywhere, I will add a picture of the place I received. So, thanks for viewing, I hope you liked it, comments and criticism are always appreciated, and Happy Building!
EDIT: I got SECOND PLACE In my County Fair! Yeah!! And another build I entered got FIRST PLACE!

Nice build, bombin ben! While the pictures are a bit blurry, from what I can see the entire scene is aesthetically pleasing, and you did an excellent job mixing the ruins/landscaping.
