They're baaaack....
About this creation
Combinators: What if Creator sets could combine into fighting mecha WITHOUT dismantling them?

Duotron - Combinator pairs capable of combining to form one super-robot
Team Yellow - Land/Sea - Land is represented by futuristic drag racer. Sea is represented by futuristic mini submarine.
Team White - Land/Space - Land is represented by futuristic truck. Space is represented by light fighter.
Team Blue - Land/amphibious - Land is represented by a futuristic trike. Amphibious is represented by a futuristic hover craft.
Team Red - Land/Land - Team red is made up of two land based vehicles, however one is an explorer type intended for lunar exploration and the other is a hover tank.

Some time ago - About 3 years I think, I pitched an idea I called "Space Ninja Fleet", a (clearly) Super Sentai inspired concept that featured micro scale vehicles that combined in various combinations to form super robots.

After a little rethink I reinvented the concept as Combinators for Cuusoo/Lego Ideas.

Since then I've added a couple of extra sets to the theme, but for about a year now I've pretty much left the concept alone. Why? Well mostly because the designs started to get a little samey and to be honest I felt it wasn't worth creating new sets unless they did something new.

So enter the Duotron Force.

This time round ALL the sets will combine in pairs, which will be interchangeable, so an upper torso from Team White will be exchangeable for the upper torso of Team Blue or Team Yellow or however many teams I create.

My plan, assuming I make more, is to have each pair cover two different modes of transport, so a plane and a truck, a tank and a boat, etc...

At the moment THIS is the only design I've come up with and it isn't really what I pictured in my head. If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free, and rate if you like.

To be honest this "duocon" styled combining mecha didn't start out that way (shock and awe.... of course I'm being ironic there) it did in fact start out as a fairly bog standard transformer "attempt". I've always wanted to do a microscale macros/robotech style fighter at micro scale and the jet mode here was an attempt to do just that... problem was I couldn't figure out how to incorporate the legs, so I created a separate vehicle, but as that WASN'T at all what I started out to create I decided to reinvent the resultant hybrid as something intentionally two parter and this was the result.

I have a habit of recycling the same joint and transformation patterns so I deliberate tried to create a "new" pair of legs, the result is a little more stylised in vehicle form than I would have hoped, but it conveys the intent at least.

The robot form is almost what I wanted, considering the scale the distinct lack of detail and character is inevitable.

And only the "suggestion" of weapons, normally I at least give these combined robots a sword, maybe that will be a project for a later team.
