MIDI-Scale Venator Star Destroyer
My second project on LEGO Ideas need your support
About this creation

Hello LEGO® lovers!

After 3 weeks, I finally have my second project approved on LEGO® Ideas and I'm ready to share with you here. My way favourite big SW ship and the second starship to my MIDI-Scale fleet: The Venator class Star Destroyer!

I spent over a year on this creation since many concepts failed on some unsolvable problems with structure or lack of lego elements. DUring this long time, I was alternating between giving up and going ahead until I finaly found some satisfactory solution.

The main problem was comming up from the main structure. This scale is nto big enough to include this technic brick skeleton inside, as you know it from bigger Venator models. I was always fighting with lck of space to include some elements to make the main body solid enough. Since I havent built this model in real (except few parts to find out as if some technique works) I cant prove the durability, but I hope I'll make it soon.

I paid a big attention on following correct dimensions. Just from the side view, you can see that the ship is a little bit to "vertical-thick" but that is a tax for detailed 1 stud sides.

What am I especially proud of is the shape of the red top hangar. Even most of bigger models doesn't have this slight narrowing from back to front, using either fix width or 1 stud sharp steps on it. I think this detail is noce addition to overal design. To reach it. The technique I used is described in updates to my project in Ideas. There is a link down here in update.

At the end I bring this rear view showing the thrusters. I did some mistake in rendering settings resulting in to dark transparent blue - should have been much lighter - but it doesn't look really bad anyway.

Last image shows Venator with my first MIDI-Scale, The Invisible Hand prepared for deadly combat :)

I hope you like this creation and I'd be glad if you vote, comment or even SUPPORT it on LEGO® Ideas to increase the odds that we will get a set like this!

UPDATE I

I have created the update to the Venator project on ideas, showing used building techiques with angular brick. Be sure to check it out HERE!

Quoting Ian Spacek
Thanks Ian. An honor to have pray from you!

Thanks. So far it doesn't look very good with support but who knows. Well pricy... 1.5K pieces may throw it into price range $150-200. Not that bad I think :)

Quoting Blake Hawkins This creation really is amaizing. I believe LEGO created this once (on a larger scale) but it was to expensive for a lot of people to buy, including me, but this one is at a very reasonable size/price. Also the whole shape and architecture are captured beautifully. Keep up the good work :D
Thanks Blake! So far, LEGO has made their playset with Venator. It was slightly bigger than this but the desigh was really poor in my oppinion. I tried to show that it's possible to be way more accurate even on smaller scale :)

Hey Sam where am I supposed to check the update? in lfx files or somewhere on your moc entries? Thanks

Brilliant shaping and details for such a small scale. Very cool! P.S. I've reworked the suspension and steering rack on my creations, and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind 'evaluating' it, so to speak. Tell me if it's improved, weather it's stronger, etc. You don't have to, I was just wondering if you were interested. = ) -Sam

Quoting Magma ! I love how you made the engines.
Thanks. I tried to make them accurate and significant. They are one of the main aspects I love Venator for.

Quoting Joshua O'Rourke Oh, no: I missed it! But, now that I'm here, it looks amazing! You nailed the shaping, all the details are there, and you even managed to keep in scale with the Invisible Hand!! Great work, I would love to own one of these; Supported on Ideas ;) (I'm 'PowerMiners4ever')
Thanks. Yea, correct scale is my main goal. Right now im working on few smaller cruisers to extend the republic fleet :) Hoping to be ready with them soon so I can work on Munificent Banking Clan frigate.

Quoting Joshua Barnabas Wonderful, again. I like this even more than your Invisible Hand, already very good. It beats alot of bigger models of Venator in the quality of design and proper dimensions. On the field of these small models this is far the best I have ever seen!
