WW2 contest round 1 entry: IS-2 Heavy Tank Model 1943
Built for the WWII Vehicles, Ships, and Aircraft Contest under the category "digital"
About this creation
I designed this for the Jerry Temple's WW2 contest, round one, me vs. matt Bace.

About the IS tank:

The main production model was the IS-2, with the powerful A-19. It was slightly lighter and faster than the heaviest KV model 1942 tank, with thicker front armour and a much-improved turret design. The tank could carry thicker armour than the KV series, while remaining lighter, due to the better layout of the armour envelope. The KV's armour was less well-shaped and featured heavy armour even on the rear, while the IS series concentrated its armour at the front. The IS-2 weighed a little less than Panther and was much lighter than the Tiger series and presented a slightly lower target than either.

Early IS-2s can be identified by the 'stepped' front hull casting with its small, opening driver's visor. The early tanks lacked gun tube travel locks or anti-aircraft machine guns, and had narrow mantlets.

My tank is the IS-2 model 1943, notable by the (as stated) stepped front and narrower mantlet.

Another beautiful picture of the tank in the garage, disassembled (the inside is visible). Links to my Flickr account with high definition renders.

hey hey hey hey

best of luck to my fellow contestants, and I hope you liked this design. Cheers!

I like it a lot! My only issue is with your method of connecting the roadwheels to the chassis. It looks way too fragile and weak, and I'd be concerned about those parts breaking off if it was actually built, whenever it was moved. Side question, how do you get Youtube videos to autoplay when you embed them?

Wow! This tank just looks like the real thing! I have no words... It's just... Uhh... AWESOME! The shapes and how everything looks when it it removed (Like the turret, and that rounded shape under it) It is very rare when people build these things so accurately and so well! May I ask you about something? By any chance, could I get the LDD file to build this tank? I have got lots of German tanks, Tigers, e.t.c, of my own build at home but no accurate and beautiful Russian tanks, could you send it to me by any chance? My E-mail is Viktor.tsoi78@gmail.com Also, it looks like it has a looking-like-the-real-thing suspension, does it actualy work or at least give the "look" of it working? Very good tanks! Love your Build! Viktor

Quoting Sam Sanister Sweet IS-2. What do you think of it in WoT as compared to the IS?
I mean, IS in WoT is both IS and IS-2, it's the IS with the 100mm gun and IS-2 with the 122mm. In terms of gameplay I loved it.

Awesome work, the IS-2 is one of my favorite tanks of all-time! Creativity/Effort: 5/5. This is the most detailed IS-2 on the 'Pages! Originality: 4.5/5. Yours is one of only four IS-2's on the 'Pages!!! Conformity: 5/5. Popularity: 5/5. 29 likes and 19 comments in a week is HUGE!!! Overall: 19.5/20. Excellent!!!

Since my submission is rendering now, I have a little time to comment. This is a superb model of one of my favorite tanks of the war. The "garage shot" makes it extra-special. I am pretty happy with the way my build is coming out, but, frankly, I think you may have me beat. Good luck!

Thanks a lot, and this is one of my wartime favourites as well, but you aren't bad at what you do either, so I'm definitely looking forward toward your entry!

Many thanks, but sadly it's not made of real bricks. It's my dream that I could make one of my tanks one day.
