Some Kind of Muscle Car V.4
Nobody asked for it. Because nobody wanted it. But you're getting it anyway. Another George Lucas moment. Another blast from the past. My most well-known LEGO creation has been resurrected. It's back, and it's better than ever. Holy smokes, this is a long, dramatic, drawn-out description. I'm going to end it now. Just scroll down already. Nothing to see here. Go. Go.
About this creation
This is a brand-new model, and NOT the exact same one I annoyed everybody with way back in the fall of 2008. Okay?

The side-opening-get-inny thingies. Can't remember what they're called.

My best. Dashboard. EVAH!!! Somewhere, Gollum is freaking out right now.

Opening hatchback/trunk thingy. I went with this because the back of the car is too short to allow for a more typical trunk. Or "boot", if you're reading this from across the pond.

I used 1 x 2 rail plates to create about a 1/2 stud offset so it'll open smoothly without catching on anything.

Pretty cool, eh?

Epic chassis is epic.

A nice swoopy set of exhaust pipes.

But wait! What's that 1 x 4 hinge for?

For this! Holy crud, this never gets old.

This time, it's a big, bad, angry V8 like it always should've been.

An in-line six?! What was I thinking?

Look back through my old creations if you don't get the reference. ^^

The use of the 1 x 4 plate hinge to make the flip front instead of Technic beams and pins puts the pivot point about half a stud further forward than on the original model. And that means having a 1-stud gap in the fender so it can clear the tire as the hood opens in no longer necessary. And not having Technic beams running through the chassis meant there was room for a detailed engine this time around. I'm super excited about all of this! Sweet mother of Chuck Norris, this a long paragraph.

Everything's open...

I originally wanted to build this in yellow, but quickly discovered I didn't have the necessary yellow bricks.

So, almost immediately after taking these two photos, I switched back to the red color scheme of the original.

The fleet at the moment.

Might as well go all out, since I've got the cars... um, all.. out. Wow.

Ah, memories...

Very nice! I think this is your best car. I always like the way how you fit those exhaust lines in your cars.

That really does look good. I especially love the bonnet (or hood for you on the other side of that pond), full of yumminess. A very nice machine!
