Hello! Here is my last creation, a 19-wide recreation of the sublime BMW M3 E30.
About this creation
Introduction

This car is before all my second entry for Speedy September. It is also my entry for a moc-off against Sam the First's magnificent Mercedes 190E Evo II. Let the best win!

A Drag Race ...

History

The BMW E30 M3 is the first car built by BMW M GmbH, between 1985 and 1992. For a lot of purist, it is the ultimate M BMW. The engine was a 2.3 then 2.5L 4-cylinder, developing over 200hp, and the chassis the one of the e30 BMW coupe. Originally built for racing, it had also a lot of street-legal competitors, like the Ford Sierra Cosie or the Mercedes Benz 190 E 2.3-16V (Sam, I’m waiting 8-P ). But the M3 was always better.

My model’s history

It actually all started in July. I made a WIP of the front; a sort of brainstorming. During July and August, I actually did nothing on it. All restarted by the announcement of “Speedy September”. I’m worked approximately 3 weeks on it, in parallel with my job.

Design

It’s my most realistic car so far.

Exterior

I focused my creation on realism, especially on exterior realism. I actually built the entire car because of the front grill and lamps. The bumpers were quite tricky to build, but I think they look great. The wheels are original as well.

Interior

Here, the central console was tricky to build. I’m happy with the interior even if it could be better built. I used an official color scheme here.

”Transmission”

The engine bay took me hours to finish entirely. I tried to make it as realistic as possible. I used pictures I found of the bay to recreate mine.
It’s the same underneath the car. It’s my first car with a detailed underneath. The exhaust line was quite difficult to recreate; I’m pleased with the output. ;-)

Functions

Transmission

This car has:

  • A fully functional & working 4-cylinder engine

  • A working differential

Exterior functions

It also has:

  • Opening doors

  • An opening engine bonnet, opening in the same way than the real one

  • An opening boot

  • Adjustable mirrors

  • Working wipers

Seats

The front seats can:

  • Slide forward and backward

  • Toggle

The seatbacks can also toggle

The back seats can be folden. Thanks to that, you can load your Saturday-bought IKEA shelf in the bigger boot.

Interior

You can find these other functions in the cabin:

  • A glove box!

  • Working sun visors

  • An adjustable interior mirror

Other things to know (or not) about my moc

It is my second biggest moc after the VW SP2. It is my biggest LDD moc. It is also the first time I work so long on a car, and the first time I use an impair number of studs in width.
Dimensions

  • Width : 17 studs (+2 because of the body build wheel arches)

  • Length: 47 studs

  • Height: 15 studs

  • Number of pieces: 1548 pieces

Salutation

I really thank you for watching, rating and commenting. I think I’ve done a big step in creating and building; do you think the same as me? Critics are appreciated.

-Thank You!-

~Yann~

Fantastic M3! The only complaint I have is that the bonnet is a bit too long, though I can understand that the functioning engine does take up a lot of space! :)

Quoting Sam the first The negatives: the wheels are a tad small, and stick out a bit for. The rest is amazing! All the functions are incredible! The details are amazing (dat engine bay tho), and those seats are genius. I've got some work to do! Haha! Awesome work mate, clever stuff.
Yes, the wheels are to small, but they are the biggest I can put in that hole. And the stick out makes the car look sporty... ;-) thanks for commenting; I'll try to fix them in a way. And good luck! I'm waiting on the drag race stripe ;-)
