The first Point of Call in Brickside Bay is Brickdside Tube Station. Have you just arrived? Saying a fond farewell or on the daily grind to work? Well Brickside Tube station is the place.
Here we can see the grand statue of the first Lord Mayor of Brickside Bay - Sir Walter J Blackstone. Blackstone was responsible for developing the sleepy fishing village of Brickside to the charming town of Brickside Bay today. The statue was donated to the town by the Guildhall.
Here we can see into the main booking hall of the tube station. The blue, white and yellow colour scheme tells us that the station is on the Piccadilly Line. We can see the newly renovated tiling to the walls and floors. There is a modern ticket machine as well as a map of the underground. Train departures are also listed on the blue screen. To the left we can see the ticket office, however due to problems with Metronet and political infighting the staff are on strike. To the right by the entrance we can see a blue stand for copies of the Metro newspaper, however as usual it is empty...
Here we can see the station from the outside. Brickside Bay Station is a classic example of terracotta tiled station of the early 1900's. This station was built in 1907.
Here we can see the Stations prime position on a street corner with two entrances. The station has been recently refurbished and is awaiting new lettering for the roundels and on the canopies above the entrances. This should be completed as soon as the workers come off strike.
Here is another shot of the station exterior showing the Statue.
Angela is new to Brickside Bay and luckily she has found a policeman to help her with directions to the Hotel.
The Station is based on several of the Central London teracotta tiled stations dating from the early 1900's. There is also a little mix of Walford East Tube Station in there as well! lol
The station is currently being renovated and is still awaiting new signage and repairs to the tiled floor in the booking hall.
The station has no staff at the moment as they are all on strike... somethings never change!
