About this creation
Mocolympics 2014.
My opponent is Benaiah N. Good Luck, Benaiah!
My category is: Worst movie EVER: Enlighten us as to what we missed out on so that we may all imbibe of the atrocities perpetuated upon innocent blank film. Give us your best of the worst. What is the worst movie of all time (in your opinion)?

So, when I saw my category, the first thing I did was ask my parents what the worst movies were that they had ever seen. My dad immediately said "Batman Forever". But then I decided that I would rather go with a movie that I had seen, and I went with the Star Wars Holiday Special. I regretted every second of it. :P

I decided to make the Wookie house, and used this as an inspiration. It was extremely challenging to do, and both me and the Moc had several breakdowns while I was building, but the end-product looks pretty good.

Here is the "climax" of the movie, where Han and Chewbacca have to get past... *gasp* ...a single Stormtrooper! - wait, didn't Han shoot hundreds of those in Episode IV? Yes, but this is the Holiday Special, so the situation is suddenly way more dangerous. :P

...except that it's not, because Han and Chewbacca just throw the Stormtrooper right off the edge of the house. Seriously, what kind of a climax is that?

Detail shot. The panels you see here were very hard to do. Also, I estimate that I used about three hundred tan cheeses in this Moc.

Stormtrooper view. Here you can see the lower half of the house a bit better. You can also see some of how I did the panels in the top.

The back. I didn't have enough pieces to do the whole house, so I just did the front. But that meant that I needed a counterwheight in the back. The result: a very ugly back.

You can also see how I achieved the curve with treads.

When I turned the model back around to take more pictures of the front, it broke, and when I tried to fix it, it broke even more.

And as I was walking away to start packing up my picture-setup, the posterboard fell on the Moc and destroyed it even more.

Here you can see an early WIP. That breakdown made me decide to build all of the infrastructure before I completed the outside. It also made me change the floor and wall designs.

This Moc was hard. The roundness and the angles and the panels were all very annoying. But I think it payed off. Also, I feel king of sad that I haven't made a Star Wars Moc in a year, and then when I finally make one, it has to be from the Holiday Special. :P Oh well, at least I can blame it on the movie if you think this Moc is a bad one. :P

I hope you liked it!

Well, the artwork from McQuarrie was the only good thing about the holiday special! And your MOC looks exactly like the picture! Happy Life Day! ;)

How fragile that thing is... :D And I've gone there too, with the massive counterwieghts :P

I'm afraid that your opponent brought a can of silly string to a Howitzer fight. As far as bad movies go, this one is pretty close to the top. And not in a campy, Showgirls sort of way. Your selection could not have been more appropriate. In fact, it is matched in an indirectly proportionate way to your execution. Great curvature on that with a perfect feel of a tree house. If Bruce McQuarrie drew that poster, he did it with a light saber to his throat. You get my vote.

I think I've heard horror stories about that Holiday Special. Two hours of Wookies, right? Splendid build anyhow! The curvature is excellent.

Quoting Deus "Big W." Otiosus One good thing did come from that special though; the first appearance of Boba Fett.
I guess. But it's still a horrible movie. :P

You win! Seriously, I can't imagine this MOC would not win. SW "Holiday" is literally one of the worst things I've seem in my life, so you've got that part covered, and the round Wookie House is fantastic. Have a happy Life Day, my young friend.

Haha. Looks good, and a tragic story to go with it. Never seen that movie, so I may just give it a miss.
