This is my first (posted) Sherlock Holmes creation! I am an EXTREME Sherlock Holmes (book) fan, for those who have not already guessed.
About this creation
Ok, so this is... I already told you. I'm a HUGE fan of the books (I haven't seen a single one of the newer movies though I've seen some Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes Movies). Interesting tidbit: The phrase 'Elementary, my dear Watson' was only used in the books once or possibly twice (I've read most of them).
Also, I'm planning to Make a Sherlock Holmes Group in case anyone's interested (I looked up the ones existing, nothing of note). If your interested, please comment.
So, on to the build:
This is (my representation) of the Baker's street rooms. I tried to make it seem rather 'Bricky'. I couldn't decide whether to make the floor of wood or carpeted (it doesn't say in the books to my knowledge) so I just made it boarded with a rug that matches the chairs).
The coat-hanger was a random thought (and a consumer of space) and I also added the oft-mentioned 'Persian Slipper' (olive cheese!) where Holmes keeps his tobacco.
Oh yes, and as the title says, this is taken from 'The Adventure of the Copper Beaches', the last story in 'The adventures of Sherlock Holmes' (right before 'The Memoirs').
So here is the bay window that gets shot through in 'The Adventure of the Empty House'. With a chair in which Holmes frequently sits when receiving a client 'to have the light behind him, lending him a mysterious look' (The Adv. of the Mazarin Stone). I added a dresser upon which Holmes keeps his oft-referenced Encyclopedias and some documents.
And here is Holmes's notorious chemistry table (with some bottles and beakers on it) along with his scientific charts on the wall! I also have the door to the back room which plays a significant part in The Mazarin Stone and others.
And here are the characters! (bowing). I know Holmes's outfit doesn't look spectacular and that Watson didn't have a beard but besides that I like how they turned out! Oh yes, and Violet Hunter, their client in 'The Copper Beaches'.
And now, some exclusive Pics. of my Previous Bakers street build which I will probably not post elsewhere do to embarrassment.
The outside (cringe). I used red for bricks and had a roof made of slope pieces (along with a hobo drinking Vodka in the side-street).
I have no excuses. Cramped: yes. weirdly colored: yes. Terrible figs: yes. I was originally basing this off of the story "A Scandal in Bohemia" but used the Movie Holmes anyway (for lack of pieces). I will not be showing this again so get a good look.
A parting shot: Holmes playing his violin! In his oft-mentioned rat-grey robe (which every devout LOTR builder owns!).
