'57 Chevy Nomad
Celebrating 6 years on MOCpages in style with an awesome new twist on Legoland California's '57 Chevy design! There's convertible AND hardtop versions of the '57 Bel Air featured in the various Miniland layouts at Legoland, but there weren't any models of the Bel Air's famous station wagon cousin that I could recall seeing. So I took it upon myself to build one, and I think the end result is just... beautiful. If you don't mind my saying so.
About this creation

The back. In all of its backy-ness.

Probably the weirdest use of droid arms you'll ever see.

I almost used grey gear sticks with red sockets to make the seven bars across the rear hatch, but that was just stupid-looking. So be glad I used droid arms. Be very, very glad.

Notice how the colors are the same as the convertible on the cover of the Ultimate LEGO Book, both inside and out.

Double trouble!!!

Oh, dear...

Nomad gonna... GO mad! Haha... ha.... uuuuhhh...

This was my first creation to be featured on the LEGO Car Blog.
Check it out right here!

Yes, it was 6 years ago around this time of year that I first created my MOCpages account and began pestering you all with my countless cars and weird sense of humor. For the first couple of years that I was on here, I was using my clunky old Dell laptop for all of my uploading and editing. Then in the early summer of 2011, I got my hands on a shiny new HP that was as fast as lightning, and it worked flawlessly and served me well for about 3 years. Then, just a few months ago, my HP crashed, and crashed HARD. So, I dug out the old Dell, dusted it off, plugged it in... and it came right on. For the first time in what felt like ages, I used the Dell to upload a LEGO creation to both MOCpages and Flickr. The old machine came to the rescue at exactly the right time, and saved me from having to wait to upload the Nomad. If you're still reading this, then... wow. Just wow. For goodness sakes, go find something better to do, and leave me here to wipe the nostalgic tears from my eyes.* And as always, thanks for looking!

*Totally not crying.

Fantastic. Very quickly recognized with the realistic front end. The use of the swords for the top of the chrome grill is brilliant. The badge in the grill is very creative too.

This is lovely. I don't often comment on modded sets (although this isn't really a set I guess), but this is such a nice mod it looks like it was meant to be a Nomad from the start. Really good job. 5 stars
