G1 Micro Slag & Sludge
Okay, I have something really important to tell you all, so please read this. I won’t be making as many creations from now on, even during the school holidays. I am about to enter the HSC, the ‘High School Certificate’. Confused? Okay, here’s a rundown on what’s happening. In Australia, we have Primary school for seven years (K-6) and High School (7-12). We don’t have middle school like America or similar countries, which I actually think is kind of stupid because we are forced to put up with the ‘twelvies’. But anyway, the HSC is the mother of all exams. Year 11 is only three terms long, and then they spend a whole year of year 12 preparing you for it. I’d like to say that this isn’t that bad, but I’d be lying. Pretty much, the HSC is the most important thing that will happen to anybody before they turn 18, Lego fan or otherwise. Sadly, this outweighs Lego, and from now on it’s all work and no play for 90% of the time I’m awake. I have to sacrifice most of the things I do with Lego, so I’m going into a mini-hiatus. I’ll still build Lego, and I’ll regularly check up my groups, but aside from that Lego is taking a back seat in my life. Everything that happens for the rest of my life depends on one small week of exams, so I’ve got to give it my all. I still love Lego, and I intend to ride the Bionicle Hype Train anyway regardless of exams, but I must take a step back and simply study. Expect to see a lot less of me from now on. Sorry. Do not fear, though. The PAB order next year is still on. LTC will continue. The Bionicle Hype Train will ride off with my little group until the sets hit the shelves. I’m still here, but I’ve got to do this. If I fail this test, I’ll probably end up in a place in society where I can never build Lego again. If you still think this is a joke, laugh all you like. This is serious. The HSC awaits me one year from now, and it will be horrifying. I’ve got to get through this tunnel with nothing but my torch, otherwise there will be no light at the end…

Okay, moving onto the MOC. I’m sorry, but there will be no transformation video or LDD instructions. My computer died, so you’ll have to wait a few weeks for me to get a new one and transfer it over, and then I have to find a break in my studies. For now, let’s look at this micro goodness. Here, we have Sludge.

I kinda cheated a bit with the design, because his head becomes a flamethrower that he can hold. Other than that, he’s fully transformable.

His peg at the back is where the head would fit in dinosaur mode. If I put the LDD file out, somebody will probably mistransform him and something VERY bad will happen with that peg…

Here’s the head/flamethrower. I made the thing a T-piece because it allows for better articulation in the hand.

And here we have Slag in his robot mode.

Unlike Sludge, Slag is a lot more show-accurate in his design.

He’s also a little more complex, with more moving parts for the transformation.

Dinobots, TRANSFORM AND KICK BUTT!

Slag’s dinosaur mode was damn hard to get right, especially the dino head. It worked out okay in the end, but it could still be a little longer in my opinion.

The back legs were also hard. I ended up fitting in a 1x2 rocking hinge to make them work in robot mode.

Out of the two dinosaur modes, I prefer Sludge (even though that dinosaur doesn’t really exist scientifically).

I used a similar system to the one that Skyfire used with the transformation of the back. I also used it for A$%*$^$^S%^&^*T%&*^%&R%&^*%O
T^^*%&*R%^&^%*A^&%&*I%^&%^*&N, but he’s coming out later. And yes, he will have ALL his modes.

Just a quick group shot to finish. I’ll post something else in about two weeks. Maybe earlier, but probably not. It’s another G1 Micro double set that I made to fill in the gaps until my computer gets back. Anyway, don’t forget to like, comment and add me as a favourite builder. And as always, happy building. :)

Quoting colby larsen Good job! And I'm in 9th grade, so I understand your middle/high school situation. Good luck on your exam. Keep moccing!
Quoting Scott Bourgeois Me Grimlock say Slag and Sludge look good! Good job, Declan, and good luck with your test!
It's not for another year yet, but thanks.
Quoting Cameron H. Having never seen G1 of Transformers, I can only imagine how faithful you stayed to the originals. But these look pretty cool! My only nitpick is that they're a bit... colorful. A consistent color scheme would bump my rating up to a five.
Yeah, it happens. I go for parts, not colours...
