1990 Mercedes 190E Evolution II
Tiz ze Germanz!
About this creation
The Prowler Ace was a pretty tricky build. I took 70 days to get the shape I want, and I'm still not fully satisfied. The Nissan 350Z was even harder. It's curves and edges were hard to replicate in Lego. So when I decided I would build a Merc 190E Evo II, I thought it would be near enough plain sailing, especially in comparison to what I'd done before. Ha! I say, HA. This has to be the trickiest thing I've ever had to replicate in Lego, regardless of all scales. It's proportions are very Lego-builder unfriendly, and the bodykit is a pain in the left nostril. So here it is!

This is my entry to my own Speedy September contest, which ends tomorrow. So if you want to join - you can't. So there. Okay, maybe you can, but there's not a lot of time.
It is also My first ever MOC-off entry, against XY EZ's spectacular E30 M3. Wish me luck!
EDIT:Yay! I won against Yann (XY EZ) in the MOC off, which I was surprised about. Now for the contest results...

Let's start with the rear. Just to confuse you. Despite the tail lights being too thin,I'm quite proud of it.
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II - rear

Now the side. The wheels look a little larger than I would like them too, but hey. Actually, I really should stop moaning.
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II - side

Fun fact!: This bit is more complicated than you first thought!
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II - front

The grill was the pain in the prettymucheverywhere. There isn't a vertical bar-thingy in the middle. It was unnecessary anyway.
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II

Here you can see that the tail lights aren't angled at the side. I was going to put a decal there (there was a lot of thinking about that), however in the end I decided it was too much effort/too time consuming.
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II - rear-side

All open! Everyone loves an all open shot. Upon rendering, I found out my bonnet opening technique didn't work. This because I build my creations on a Net book, which is so slow and errgh I can't test the hinges. ;_;
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II - All open

Love that spoiler... Along with the opening goodies, this MOC also features working steering and fully independent suspension, front and rear.
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II - All open rear view

The engine! Not a lot of room here.
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II - Engine

All the details. The bumpers are maybe my favorite parts of the entire thing.
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II - Details

The dashboard! Woah!
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II - Dashboard

This is what it looks like if you were to enter the MOC. Or what it would look like if you exited when drunk, just less blurry.
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II - Enter, if you dare...

This is where you bundle the kids for terrorising them with a lap of the Nurbugring! Aren't you a nice parent?
Lego 1990 Mercedes 190E Evo II - Rear seats

Well that's a wrap! Who deosn't like a good wrap? Especially when they have ham in them. mmm
I hope you enjoyed this creation! This creation, whilst I am quite proud of it, won't go up on Lego Ideas (unlike the Prowler Ace which can be found here ) as it is far too weak to even dream of being a set.

Next up: Some smaller stuff...

Thank you very much! Personally, I feel the proportions are a little all over the shot, but that's me. I used LDD to build this, and then LDD to POV-Ray converter to render it. Hope that helps!

Quoting Loek M Volvo is made by Germans and... no, OK, sorry, I don't have an entry for Speedy September... Don't have time. And that in MOCtober! When we are all supposed to pump out MOCs like crazy-mans! Oh, and a great model BTW. Seems like it's often the most boxy cars that turn out to be very hard. You pulled it off nicely; a great competitor for Yann's M3. Well done Sam, and the team-up with Peter was also nice.
Thanks Loek! No worries, I struggle to get things done by a certain point, so no need to worry. Thanks about the build again!I did actually beat Yann in the MOC-off, surprisingly, so that was cool. Yes, I enjoyed the team-up with Peter, we both 'know' each other a little better now.
