Venator W.I.P 3 -Rough patch-
Hi fellow builders! Finally I can show you guys part 3 of this build. A lot of bad stuff has happened in the last few months, that's also the reason why it took so long topost this report.. We'll get to that right away, but first let's see what this update is about, shall we ;)
About this creation
At the end of W.I.P 2 I was mounting some of the enginetrusters and building/reinforcing the frame at the back. here are some more pics of that with more engines in place:

I still can't believe how good things wen't so far :)

Both sides come together really nicely. Soon this thing will have the "go" next to all the "show"

This was the first true test of the strength of the frame when we put the ship on it's "legs" No problem what so ever so a big win that was. It's easier to work on the bottom now and it will certainly look awesome when it's on display.

Here's a close-up of the UCS style sticker. I found this one online. Yes I do know that the ship is oversized to be a UCS style set, but for me personally, this is the ultimate version of this ship. So for me this put's the ultimate in Ultimate Collector's Series, hence the plaque.

The first thing I put on the ship when it was on it's legs, or stand as you will, was the ventral hangar I showed you all in W.I.P 2. It looks very cool. I wanted to get this right since the ones by Varzegi and Iomedes looked just amazing as well and I wanted to give them credit for that too.

Close-up of the hangar in place:

Overview of the ship:

But afther that i hit a rough patch...hard. My girlfriend and I broke up, it just didn't work out. Having bought a house together made this even harder. I managed to keep the house, paying it of by myself. This ofcourse had a drastic influence on the budget for this project... basically there is none for the moment! With the brake-up, my motivation was gone too. A few months later though I wanted to do something that I wanted to do for a long time: redecorating my legotorium/starwars collectible room. I never touched the room since I moved into the house, but now it was bye bye time for the lionking wallpaper :) This took my mind of the bad things that happened in the months before en the result was rather pleasing. You can see the result below:

Here you can see my biggest concern for the moment: The triangular shape looks a bit to high from here so it might need to drop 1 or 2 rows. It's a bit of work to do that, but nothing to be worried about.

A little bit of my lego star wars collection, together with some moc's I've made in the past and my UCS AT-TE that I also started building a while back. I'm not sure if I will upload that one though since it's a design by Reto Geiger and I just build it from his instructions with some mild modifications.

Man, I love this ship! The two trusters you can see on the table are the ones for the 2 big long engines that I still have to mount. These are the final two, after that all the engines are in place.

I mentioned that there's no budget for now, but I still had a lot of parts left, so this week I started building on the Venator again with the parts I had. For now I'll be finishing up some of the details like these turrets that go on top of the upper hulls.

This piece is finished now too. It will go underneath the kiel at the back of the ship.

Same part, but bottomside:

That's it for now. What I will do in the next few weeks/months is look into the triangular shape and drop it 1 or 2 rows and finish up all the other details. When I have some budget to buy a huge load of light gray plates I will finish up the bottom hulls so that the bottomsection of the ship is completely done! Thanks for watching this, I hope you enjoyed the progressreport as much as me building this thing

They sure are! Currently I'm working on the hulls. Building time is very limited so progress is slow for the moment. Thx for passing by!
Quoting Kurt's MOCs This is progressing nicely. I hope your table legs are strong enough! Keep up the good work.

Thx for the comment! During the past weekend I adjusted the wedgeshape, so now it sits one row lower than on the pictures you see here. I hope to have some money soon to start with the lower hulls ;)
Quoting Krištof Pučejdl Stunning :) Great you did some progress again. Can't wait to see more!

If you don't have any bricks you'll spend 12000 euro easely. I had already a lot of bricks so It'l probably cost me 7000 euro max. When I sel this however i could easely get more than double of this :)
Quoting Nerds forprez Wow, most people don't understand the commitment and resources that go into a project like this. Amazing. How much do you estimate you will spend on this project??

That looks fantastic! No more yellow wallpaper! And, the Venator is nice too. XD That beast is looking properly intimidating, those turrets are pretty wicked. Sorry 'bout the breakup, life goes on. Wish her the best and get back to building, I suppose. Can't wait to see this monster swooshing about the house. Outstanding!

Break ups are hard, but you seem to have kept your head high, and bounced back on your feet, keep your chin up bud. Oh, and about some Lego, I really REALLY like those turrets!

Thx Mark, these comments means a lot to me! I'm saving up now, so that in a few months I might be able to put up some orders on Bricklink to continue the hulls which are the most expensive parts of the whole build. This thing will get finished one day, be sure of that ;)
Quoting Mark Kelso Looking fantastic. I can certainly relate to the challenges that life can bring. Unfortunately for us all, it's life first, then Lego. And stress can totally zap any creative urges. But, it looks like you've persevered. Looking forward to seeing more when you get the chance (and the motivation) to build. Keep up the great work!
