Vladimir van Hoek vs. Elio Salsano
Alien Landscape: Is it barren? Are the rivers green, gold or pink? Do the trees grow upside down? Do the Aliens walk around like they are constantly doing the limbo? These are all ideas. Build us your version of an alien landscape. This one is all about beauty 'outside the box'.

The main part of -Madre Stellas-
Here there are 9 small creatures who work for the starmother. And they are being watched by two guardians. They protect both the mother and the 9 minions.

This is the harvest area.
Here there is one worker, who harvests the fancy crystals which are needed to create a star. The Starmother knows what to do with them.

-Madre Stellas-
There she is. She's in her little pool of happiness. Her body lives in the pool, surrounded by rock. She loves to watch the minions work for her. At night she gives them a hug to comfort them. The minions love her for doing that.

You can see a lot here. You can look for anything you want. You will find something, but probably not the thing you were looking for.

You will find a few minions here. They each have a different color top. (Don't know a word for it. It's definitely not hair. Or maybe intergalactic hair?)

'Pinky' is reporting to -Madre Stellas-. Everything is going well.

Here's a guardian. And 5 minions. 'Orangy' is a bit shy. She stays in the 'house' a lot. I call it house, but it actually is more of a weird shaped box, were you can hide for the man who takes the pictures.

-Madre Stellas-, the two guardians and of course the 9 minions. You spotted them already didn't you?

There he is. The harvester. He is kind of a loner. But he's the only one with wings. He likes them a lot. He is letting go the other minions. It's like they are from Venus and he is from Mars. He is always trying to get on the Right thing.

To show the size of the starmother, here you can see here left paw.

You probably get her size by now, but to be complete, her other paw. (The right paw. (from left and right, not from right and wrong.))

Finally, a picture of the thing that looks like a bridge. Yes, it looks like a human bridge. And that's exactly what it looks like. But, -Madre Stellas- has no idea what it is, or what the function of it is. She saw it in a galaxy pretty far away and she liked it. She thought it was art and she liked it. She asked her minions to build one for her and they did. Of course she gave them all a few extra hugs, which they truly appreciated.

Fourth wall (I know what it is now. Yeah!!)

I have a few pictures of the aliens from the build. I don't have a shot of the harvester alone, without his planetpiecethingy.

The head of -Madre Stellas-. I like the way the head looks.

The guardians. I like them, although I do not really like the white color of the legs of the left one. I would've liked to have them in red. I only ordered the lime green ones. And I must have a few dark red ones, but I could not find them.

These minions are my absolute favorite! The look great. With only 5 pieces. At first I did not add the eyes on the front. But I must say, it adds character. (In my humble opinion off course.)

Most of the structure is upside down. It hangs on the white support, with a little wood attached to it.

The whole setup.

I must say something. I'm very satisfied with this build, but it was a true pain, especially this last day of building. The rock on the bottom fell down. I almost cried, it took me a long time to create this piece of rock. And in a split second it was broken in about 50 pieces. But, luckily, I took a lot of picture of the building process. I found a pretty good one, to reproduce the build. I made it a lot stronger. (So I thought...)
Just before I could start photographing, I had to put the black background in. I was very careful not to tough the rock. But, I did... The bottom section fell down. It was not reaclly broken, only the lime teeth pieces fell of. I did not want to crush anything else, so I used a bit of support for this section. (Before there was no support from the bottom at all.) And I had to cover it up with the final piece of black paper I could find.
But, wining aside, it was a lot of fun to build. It took me about 20 hours I think and almost my marriage... But it was worth the time. And the fun thing for me is, my favorite part of the build is the 5-part-minion, which took me a minute to make.

After the main part of the build was done, I wanted another planetlikepiece. (In the beginning I planned 3 islands, 1 with the starmother, 1 with eggs with new children/minions and one with the starmaking material. (Harvest-planet-thing) In the end I did not do the eggisland, no more bricks in colors I wanted and no more energy to build it. (It was a very very busy week with work, sports and a play I am in.)

At first I only wanted to use lime, red and (dark)bley. I did not use a lot of other colors. The lime green was a challenge to find. I went through all of my buckets and all of my sons buckets. And I placed an order on bricklink, which is always a lot of fun to get at home.

I hope you liked my build!

And finally, but very important: Good luck to my fellow dutch opponent: Mr. Vladimir van Hoek.

Greetz and have fun building!
Elio

Quoting Chris Phipson Wow what a great build! The detail is amazing and I really love how you made multiple rock areas. Just awesome work overall! Now on to the vote... Please don't read this the wrong way because... wow. However, the single deciding factor in this match up was that when I looked at this build I thought to myself... Avatar. Again, don't take that the wrong way. Personally, I liked Avatar for what it was (but this is for another conversation). That being said however, I was instantly brought to Pandora with this build. Vlad's "original" idea (yes I know it's not a wholly original idea but I haven't seen it in a moc before) was what won me over. This match could go either way really so good luck with the other judges! ~ Chris.
Hi there, Thanks for you comment. The idea of the floating rock came from going to Legoworld, where the members of lowlug (a dutch lug) build something in steampunk style with floating rocks. That looked so cool, I had to do that. About avatar, I have never seen the movie. The trailer looked stupid to me, the story sounded predictable. Yesterday I watched the trailer and I see why it made you think of avatar. Haha, a pretty funny coincidense. Greetz, elio

Quoting Tom Remy You used some of my favourites color in this already beautiful and impressive build... How can I not love it?! I like the guardians vey much, but the way you've built those floating islands in 10 days is a lesson in Lego! Congrats on advancing!

Quoting Vladimir van Hoek Hallo Elio! Van harte gefeliciteerd, maak er wat van! Breng de trofee naar NL, hallee! I bow my head to you, sir, and I bow it twice! Not only have you made the best alien landscape, but you have also made Matt love Avatar! Your asteroids floated out of the box, like Pocahontas's heart flew out to John Smith :S

Fantastic, whimsical, and otherworldly. These were the words I thought of when I first saw this. They are also the words WE thought of in coming up with this category. You nailed strange with exceptional technique and imagination. The environs are truly mind blowing and the story is unique and believable. You get my vote.
