LOM UC- Shadows
About this creation
What Happened First?
What Happened Last?
What Happens Next?

We were marching to Guiare with the Lady Julia in our midst. No snow had yet fallen in central Rainos, but the night was cold and frosty nonetheless- the type of cold that bit through one’s clothes and penetrated the bones. A pale moon gleamed in the black sky, slipping through the thin layer of clouds that blanketed the sky like a shroud.

LOM UC- Shadows

We expected trouble of some kind- three knights afoot and an unarmed rider were a tempting target for any hill tribe- but we were well-armed. If we had been attacked fairly, no attacker could have gotten past.

But we were not.

LOM UC- Shadows

It was near the third watch of the night when a great wind arose in the forest, swaying the trees as if they were great galleys in a storm, and sending their branches tumbling through the rushes. We ducked into the shelter of some rocks, cowards that we were, to protect ourselves from the gale, and tried to get Julia under the rocks with us. Her horse was panicking, though. We couldn’t get her down in time.

LOM UC- Shadows

As we struggled with the frantic horse’s reins, a white light flashed over our heads for a moment, and from just above us a figure seemed to leap from the air itself onto Julia. She was knocked off her horse by her assailant as we drew our swords, but when we ran to defend her, she and the assassin had vanished completely. Not a footprint marred the thick moss. No shadows fled into the dark forest.

LOM UC- Shadows

We are continuing to Guaire to seek the help of the Wizards. No matter what, we will find her and take our revenge on the ones who try to harm her.

LOM UC- Shadows

We are Troytonians, and we will find them.

What Happens Next?

LOM UC- Shadows

I’m happy with the way this turned out. I added some fun trees, some happy lighting, and some rockwork. Also, for everyone who’s been eagerly awaiting the next episode in my story, you can both relax. I hope to have another one up within a few weeks. Hey, that's fast for me, OK?

Fun Fact: this story is inspired by the gaps on Roman leg printing. To cover it up while Roman figs are walking, they have to be leaning forward a bit. When I had these three posed, I thought that a flashback story while they were walking back dejectedly would be a lot more appealing than a simple scene of Julia riding to Guaire. Besides, this means I don't have to edit in any gorgeous special effects :P

LOM UC- Shadows

Rocks. They aren't super-fancy-panel-magic, but I like them. They’re inspired by this rockwork.

LOM UC- Shadows

Trees. These use the regular Travis/Dalek brick technique, and the hinged trunks are mostly inspired by Halhi’s trees.

LOM UC- Shadows

Figless, in boring light. But that's boring. Here's the title pic again:

Hope you enjoyed!

Thanks! They were heading to Guaire for the conference.

Quoting Armon Russ The lighting provides the perfect mood for the story, and those trees have interesting angles to say the least. :P Light gray is definitely an odd choice for dark green, as it makes it look almost white, but it has a nice clean look to it. And who is this Lady Julia?!
Thanks! And that's what I was looking for, a clean look. It's why I used this style of rockwork instead of detailed panel rockwork. Julia is Thomas' Troytonian girlfriend- I've had her for almost as long as Thomas himself. Which reminds me, I need to do a summery for everyone who doesn't remember my story :P

Quoting Julia LeeP Nice build, Thomas! I love that color scheme :P, and those trees as well. I do think dark grey would have been a better rockwork color to go with, though, although light grey does make the rockwork "pop", if you know what I mean. And I think the lighting is a nice touch as well.
Thanks! I sort of wanted the rockwork to have that pop, to be honest. It keeps the scene from being all black in the nighttime pics.

Quoting Aranethon . If you want me to comment on more, say so and it shall be. I was in school when I wrote that, and I'm about to get up and feed my dogs, so give me ten minutes. Then I'll comment on your exceptional lighting.

Quoting Joseph Olson Great build! Rock-work (like the color), trees, etc. Good to see that some of the Admins are still posting!
Thanks! I'm not sure why you'd want to dis the other admins, though. Even if they can't build as often as you can, every one of them does a heck of a lot of work for LOM.

Quoting Halhi 141 Nice build. I'm undecided on the rocks though - I think dark grey would probably fit better with the colors of the build.
In hindsight, you might be right. I wanted to try a different color of rockwork, though, and I like Mass-Editor's color combos. Besides, I'm concerned that dk grey would have blended in too much with everything else.
