About this creation
Hey guys!

Sadly, school has caught up with me and my days are jam-packed. This itself took me around a month or more. :[ In you I find rest, O Christmas break. Near, yet so far... *cough* Enjoy!

With this build I really wanted to try for some more detailed architecture than this . In some ways I think I succeeded. It certainly has more texture, in my mind at least. And, I had (barely) enough pieces to finish all sides of the build.

I'm very proud of the rockwork (some better work can be seen on the back) and I must admit: I prefer irregular bases over borders. So much more natural, in my opinion.

My apologies for some of the poor-quality photos. It's been so cloudy and dark here I haven't been able to get good pictures. In the end I had to use the dreaded lamp and it's artificial, dull light.

Now! Onto my Tourney intro and MELO entry...

Trying out dat boulder technique... except... with only one...

And now for the WIP pics.

While I was building the watchtower, my younger brother decided to join in the fun. He built a little tower as well and wanted me to post it along with mine. Here it is, folks!

A parting shot.

Thanks for looking! C and C&C are always appreciated!

Soli Deo Gloria!

Great job! I think a tree could have improved the look quite a bit though, because as it is the color is a bit drab.

Quoting Kermunklin the Giant Evil House Head Super sweet tower with some truly amazing rockwork. And the guards are born and raised on top of the tower, you say? Very cool.

Quoting Nathan Pownell Good rockwork, excellent textures. I like the natural color scheme, and the irregular base is stellar. Good job! One thing, though- how do the guards get into the top of the tower? Just kidding. Well done!
Thanks! Hah. Don't even. :P

Quoting Patrick Massey Great work Prof. B, this is a very nice watchtower build. The irregular base looks great as does that ingenious rockwork (the use of those really big dark bley slopes is excellent). All around, a well-composed build. I really like too how the tower is built into the rockwork, looks very natural. A couple of small things I would suggest, however: I think some sand green or olive green accents would look nice on the ground around the tower. Maybe a few sand green tiles on the tower itself to give the effect of moss patches, too. A little more detailed crenellation would really add to the tower, I think, as perhaps would some more texturing on the walls (I think some inset windows or arrow slits would look awesome on this tower). Small suggestions however for a great build. Good work as always sir!
Thanks for the tips Mr. Massey! I'll keep all that in mind.

Quoting Julia LeeP Nice job! The rockwork, especially that in the back, is really good. Loving that boulder, even if it does look lonely :P The textures, both on the ground, and on the tower look okay, but I honestly think it would have been better if you had concentrated them. The back of the tower isn't really needed -- I mean, it would be needed IRL, of course :P, but here I think the front would have looked a lot nicer if the building had more texture. Still, this is a nice build, and the color scheme that you chose is really aesthetically pleasing. Oh yeah, and I'm loving the WIP pictures that you include in your builds. Perhaps I shall try that next...
Thanks Julia! It is as I said to Thomas: I really wanted to create something with all of the sides finished, though I can see why you would say that. Thanks for the tip. But I must ask: what in the world does IRL mean? And yeah, I love WIP pictures too.
Quoting Ben King That rockwork is some real eye candy, nicely done. The door handle is very intuitive as well. My only question is since there is no trapdoor on the top level of the tower, how did they get up there? :P anyways nice job!
Thanks Ben! I knew that someone would ask that, and I had thought about giving the answer in the build, but I forgot. I had made several attempts to build a trapdoor (or something similar) but failed at every one of them. Then I decided to leave it. So I guess that's their home; they live up there. :P
Quoting Drew Johnson Great build! But...where's the story?
Thanks! I might write one later, but I hadn't planned on writing anything. But I probably will sometime soon...

Quoting Thomas of Tortuga First off, the rockwork looks great. The long, angled curves look great here, and really make this look tall. Unfortunately, you hid most of the good rockwork in back. I second Gil that the tower is a nice size, but it's still too plain and square. Angling it, and then filling in the gaps with some more rockwork in front, would really help. Unless you're displaying a moc IRL, you're allowed to cheat and only build the front half, add more rockwork there :P Also, the dk tan in front is way too untextured. I have the exact same problem whenever I use dk tan, and it really doesn't look good unless you can break it up with smaller plates, a bunch of minifig action, or some rockwork chunks.
Thanks! Yeah, I know. I started the rockwork on the left side first and ended up building the back, but I liked it too much to take it down. True, dat. But I really wanted to to build something finished on all sides. Truly? I really thought the path was textured enough. Good to hear otherwise, though.
Quoting Kai Bernstein Great work! I really love the layout, with the irregular base and the placement of the rock and tower. The rockwork is really nice, but the building's stonework is too sparse/blandish for my taste and the ground could use some more colors. But I like rough originality more than refined unoriginality, and you never disappoint in that regard. :P
Huh. Too sparse, says you? I can sorta see it. Hah. Thanks!
Quoting Noel Peterson Nice! It seems a little to blocky. It would really make this build more interesting if the tower was at an angle. Also, it would be nice to see some inverted 2x2 slopes at the top.
Really? Hmm. Doesn't seem that blocky to me. See, I like it the way it is, but you raise a good point. I had debated over doing that, but decided it looked better this way. Thanks anyway!

Great tower! I love that it's actually a realistic tower size, not one of those 6x6, 8x8 or even 12x12 spindles people like to make. Also, the rockwork is excellent as usual, and tell your brother that his grunts are wearing the wrong uniform but his tower is great, too.

3 points - I liked the building from the MOC you linked to much better, but the rockwork brought up your score.
