This is my entry to the Classic Space Pocket Money Contest III hosted by David Roberts and David Alexander Smith
About this creation

Welcome to the 80's section of this contest. :)
I have build the Rapid Reconnaissance Rover, a big Rover vehicle. It can fully detach from the rover body and addiotional to that, it can devide into smaller sections to create more versions. This set can be mounted to 2 complete own sets.
While building this Rover, I had to remove a lot of stuff due to the part count limit. I think I will make an extended version outside the contest with no part count limit! :)
See the schematics below.

Part count by LDD:

Primary Spaceship Control 29 parts
Science Section / Secondary Rover Control 23 Parts
Space Propulsion and Deflector 19 Parts
Rover Body 25 Parts

Complete Rover 96 Parts +2 for the 2 Minifigs

Alternative Build 1

WWWUUUUUUUAAAAAAA....LIFE RIDE AND HARD FAST
Eh, wait. Thats wrong. This is not said so. Hmmm...

Forget it!

This is a giant Space motorcycle. Maybe the coolest Science vessel ever used!
This motorcycle comes with a small Relais-station.

"Okay just maintain this stupid relais and get some beer dude!"

Alternative Build 2

The second alternative is a simple communication spacecraft providing always a good connection betwen other vessels within the actual sector.

The LDD file contains the main model with the 2 alternative builds.

I love the aesthetics of this build. The title photo could be straight from a 1980s Lego catalogue. I like the use of colour and balance of the shapes. 10 The bike is a great contrast. Although its wheels are only attached at one side, the connection is strong. I like the spaceship, though its quite similar to the ship from the main build. Perhaps a base or something else could be made with these parts. The big wheels would work well as storage tanks or upside down as a hot tub for spacemen. (would this work if they were still wearing spacesuits?) 8 The use of bricks with Technic pins built into them (part number 2458) give strong connections, with no problems with which part the pin is left in. They've been well built into this model, so they won't pull out of the wrong module. The flexibility gives swooshing and rolling opportunities, plus loads of scope story telling possibilities. Great to see built-in cockpits. Perhaps my only criticism would be that the model can roll fast at a wall and the nose is a bit vulnerable (but Lego can always be rebuilt!) 10 The modular system is a great innovation. If the build had an unusual function, it would have scored even higher in this category. 6 Total 34

Quoting Nils O. Wow, that's cool! I had to look for the parts list to believe that you used less than 100 parts for the model. The modular design add some extra playability. What more can you ask for when you get a CS set? The alternatives are very cool too. Great job! And good luck for the competition. :-))
Kaum zu glauben aber wahr, das Ding ist UNTER dem 100 parts-limit! Yes its build with less than 100 parts (according to the contest-rulez).

Quoting TF Twitch Woah! So this large and modular build that encompasses everything Classic Space was done within the 100 piece limit? That is amazing right there and is deserving of recognition in its own right.

thanks Damon for your comment. Great if you like it. While developing this entry, I was targeting a true original CS-feeling to this Rover.
