ORCA MKII - Hybrid gunship
This gunship is an upgrade from an earlier build I did. Major changes on this are the thrusters, which have been brought closer to the body and have been extra plated. The thrusters turn by twisting the knob on top, some technic axles make this work inside. The line of the body is more slick then Type 1, which was chunkier and a bit more edgy (reference link below). The tail is sturdier as well, which makes it a bit easier to swoosh around without having to do repairs. MK II is equipped with some more firepower and has some custom decal work.

It is certainly packed with cool details, the original engine design, front weaponry, lower rocket launchers etc... Must have taken forever to finish. And you're welcome! It looks deadly, would be a great addition to any sci-fi movie :-)

Thanks Allan, I had a blast making this gunship, from concept to build. Thanks for noticing all the details. The afterworks are good fun. Those are indeed rocket / grenade launchers. Packed with all kinds of boom :P
Quoting Builder Allan Awesome! This thing looks great, cool design and good use of parts. Lots of very cool details too, like those small quadruple grenade launchers (is it?) on the sides :-)

You should! I found it quite simple to work with. Just a good sharp knife to cut the edges with and bob's your uncle. I'll be looking forward to see the results. Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed :)
Quoting Verticus Akkron Thanks for sharing about the insulation tape. I will try that soon. I really like this build; it is sleek and gorgeous. Thanks also for the alternate views. It earns its name from that top and bottom view; looks exactly like an orca! But of cours the main render takes my breath away... Stunning. Great work, as always, Pico. This is yet another masterpiece!

Quoting matt rowntRee Ooooh, that is one evil monkey! Love how mean it looks with just the right amount of subtle compact elegance. Like it's always ready to strike, lethally. Loved the original but this is such an incredible advancement that it removes all signs of the original, it is its own beast of a machine. Glorious decal work and perfect greebling with an outrageous propulsion design. Outstanding!

Quoting David Roberts A superb machine, with some fun hidden play features too. I like how both canopies hinge open and the rotating thrusters. The Airwolf / killer whale paint job looks great too, along with the big custom stickers. Impressive!

Thanks Tim! I didn't think of a sub before, but now you've mentioned it, it could very well have some rear and side propellors with a periscope on top to serve as a marine version! Refreshing, that brings up some cool ideas :D The decals do finish it off, getting it to look non-Lego is a great compliment, cheers pal
Quoting Tim C WOW, Pico! What a superb MOC! The shaping of this particular build is what grabbed my attention first. I like how it gains a stout appearance from it. It almost looks as though it could be a ship or a sub. Those circular engines on the side are inspiring. I can't say I've seen that before. The double cockpit is very reminiscent of the Republic Gunship, and anything that reminds me of a Star Wars spaceship will get the thumbs up every time. What really sets this thing apart from other builds, though, is that decaling. This makes it look at first as though it is not LEGO. On Flickr, a lot of folks will post toys that they pick up and when I first saw this, that's what I thought I was looking at. This design could come out of a box looking like this. One of the best ships I've seen to date, and maybe my favorite of your works, (if not the Hookbill).

Thanks for your positive feedback Erik, there's lots in store for 2015! Currently finishing up my entry for the CSPMCIII and knee deep in another big project :) The Orca Type 1 was inspired by the C&C GDI Orca (vtol concept), the military Hind (double cockpit) and the Airwolf series (white belly). C&C was one of my favorite games and I always liked the concept of the VTOL aircraft swooshing in and doing it's rocket barrage. In the MKII, I guess there isn't much left of that though, I like to think the flaws have been removed this way!
Quoting Erik Hendrikx That's quite an impressive creation! Nice work on the detailing too! Are they (The other guships) by any chance inspired by C&C? In any case Keep up the good work, I love to see more of your creations!

The red parts are made of simple strokes of insulation tape. The white borders are leftover stripes from Lego decal sheets. Thanks for noticing, I tried to get the Orca shape in there a little bit, flowing lines, fins, white belly and a typical high body (viewed from the side).
Quoting Alex Sonny Amazing! I'm a fan of fish and/or sea mammal shaped crafts, this is definitely a fine example! The round thrusters are brilliant. Did you paint the red part? Really well done.
