MELO Round 1: In the Dreams of the Hobbit
My entry for Round 1 of the 2015 Middle-Earth Lego Olympics.
About this creation

Category: Music of Middle-Earth. I choose In Dreams, but it could also work for The Last Goodbye, since the scene I built is the last scene of The Battle of the Five Armies.

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! As you might have noticed, I haven't been around for a couple weeks, but in that time, I did manage to complete my entry. I spent a lot of time studying pictures of the actual set and I think I managed to capture most of the details of the hole, although the walls are not as round as they should be.

The rolling, green hills of the Shire.

The Hole with the furniture removed. Here you can better see the wall details and wainscoting.

The furniture.

In case any of you are wondering how I built the background. ;)

Well, that's it. Thank a lot for viewing! As always, constructive criticism is appreciated.

Happy New Year!

~Mark

Quoting David . Am I the only one who caught the greenscreen joke here? I thought it was better than the whole build. XD (which is amazing, by the way)
Looks like it! ;) Thanks man!

Can't believe I didn't comment on this. Oh well, late is better than never. Fantastic work here, Mark. The FP seems almost real - which is incredibly difficult to recreate in LEGO. The interior is laos stellar. I love the rug. Overall, fantastic job! Good luck in round 2!

You've blown me away...again. Amazing entry, Mark! The FP and the sheer detail you added are just... too good. :) I used your idea of the brown studs in the wall in my TT entry. :P Thanks.

I actually said the wrong thing, I think his head is too small for his body. But like I said everything else is expertly done!

Quoting Nick Barrett It's a lovely scene, a fine building; that brick built figure is what really sells it to me! Nice work, best of luck to you in the MELO :-)

Quoting The Dunedain98 Perfect, just perfect! It looks exactly like it did in the movie! Though your Bilbo is nice, he isn't amazing. His head seems a little too large. Other than that I can find no fault with this MOC! The mosaic is very nice, the FP brilliant, but the details on the walls and ceiling are what really draw you into this hobbit hole. The furniture for Bag-End is also splendid! Once again, well done!
Thank you, Dune! Really? I though his head was too small and his arms too big. :)

Quoting Graham Gidman I'm not really a fan of the Bilbo, but the interior is just great! :)
Thanks! Yes, Bilbo isn't perfect, but I'm actually fairly happy with how he turned out. I needed something a scale larger than mini-fig scale, as all the accessories and the hole itself are a larger scale. I also didn't have a dark red shirt.
