TT R1: The Armory
Armories - Bear Bracket - Castle/Stonework
About this creation

Last year, the Tourney wasn't always a friendly competition, so most of the guilds this year are looking for secure places to stay or at least safely keep their equipment out of malicious hands, and both the city and region of Guaire are full of fortified houses, derelict castles, sturdy inns, vaults, banks and even (although they don't always see that much use) some sewers. Scout out or set up shop in one of these locations. The buildings are primarily made of stone, so entries will be judged most strongly on stonework. Other than that, you have free license in designing this scene/structure.

The Tourney 2015

The Average Gnomlles had split up. Rego, Elisa, and Ganner had been tasked with finding a safe head quarters. Nothing seemed to be safe from their competition, even the once sacred private group had been found vulnerable.

Rego: I can't believe we're having to set up shop way out here in the outskirts! This is my city, after all!

Elisa: While being way out here isn't ideal, it might help throw off our competition. Plus, with the Tourney in full swing, the inner city is packed.

Ganner: *huff* Gasp *puff* Wait! *huff* up guys!

Rego and Elisa turned around and stopped, while a disgruntled Ganner tried to catch up.

Ganner: *huff* Why do I! *huff* Have to carry all our stuff?!

Rego: Uh...

Elisa: Well... Let's see on getting this building! It looks cheap!

Rego: I'll go talk to that shady looking Dwarf up there...

Rego approached the Dwarf, who was glancing around uneasily.

Rego: Hail, friend! Me and my-

Dwarf: Hey! You want-a a pizza? Food of the future-a!

Rego: Uh, no... Is this your building?

Dwarf: Yes! So you want it??

Rego: Actually-

Dwarf: Please take it-a off-a my hands! I'll-a pay you to-a take it!

Rego: Ok -

Dwarf: Just-a don't tell-a the authorities you saw-a me-a!

With that the dwarf handed Rego the building's deed and sprinted off.

Rego: What a nice fellow! Guys I just got us a new base of operation!

Additional/figless shots!

Love those towers! The technique is a SNOT variation of the normal round tower technique.

Hey! Is that Sir Infernum (GoH Character) and Sir Glorfindel (Isaac's GoH character)? ;)

I love how this whole section turned out! Note the use of the prefab doors.

I build this side first. I love the architecture/stonework! Stained glass windows are cool IMO.

I also really like the roof extension things (IDK what they're called)

Final shot!

Infy's Comments:

Boy do I love this build! Not a doubt in my mind that this is my best yet! I think all the techniques and colors look really cool, just a really nice finished product IMO!

Cool techniques too (color blocking in stonework, tower technique, roof thingies, door arch, doors used as part of the roof).

Only thing I don't like is the photos... Weather made me take photos inside, which don't turn out as well. :/. Maybe I can get some better pics before I dismantle it.

Anyway, thanks for looking! Good luck to all the other competitors!

For the Average Gnomlles! :D

Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus I did not understand what you meant when you said the tower had a SNOT "round tower technique". Did you mean tiled (1x4 tiles do not look good as stone bricks, by the way)? Becasue SNOT is "Studs Not On Top". This is a SNOT "round tower technique": http://www.mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=238999&id=/user_images/49148/1290964460m_DISPLAY.jpg
It's the technique in that pic, but with 1x2 SNOT bricks instead of tiles. Then I just put slopes and stuff on the SNOT studs.

Roof extension things? I think the word you're looking for is gables. :) I love the armory, the detail itself is fabulous but the overall design with the stone walls on the bottom and more house-like roofs on top gives it a very unique look.

Quoting Armon Russ Why is everybody saying "top-notch?" It must be contagious. :P Anyway, the round towers do look a bit out of place, but I love the rest of the armory. Textures and colors are fantastic. The landscaping is great, too. Great work!
I didn't even realize other people were saying that. :P Apparently we all thought the same. :P

Thanks everyone! The tower on the right isn't anywhere near as good as the one on the left (built the right one before, so I had experience of what worked for the left one). But the gappier right tower is the more visible one. :P.
