G1 Micro Optimus Prime (2015 Update)
I thought I'd go for a little update on my mini G1 Prime. Although the basic figure hasn't changed at all, I've added an extra part to the back of the figure that I call the 'Ginrai Armour' add-on. That armour adds on even move bulk to him, as well as a lot of extra posability. That way, he can fight against Nemesis Prime without any issues. This guy was really fun to make, and he's a great second addition to my creations in 2015. Speaking of which, it seems as if everything but HL3 has been confirmed. We've got Bionicle, Avengers 2 and 3, Ninjago from ages ago, Pokemon ORAS, Majora's Mask 3DS, EVERYTHING! I'm not into the Half Life series (or the Pokemon games for that matter), but seriously. The whole joke was 'Half Life 3 confirmed', and yet everything else seems to be coming out. Dunno why. Ah well, let's get into this creation, otherwise I'll be an AFOL by the time I'm done...

So, here we have Optimus Prime in his vehicle mode with his updated trailer. Now, I know you're going to be a bit confused with the colour scheme. Well, the thing is that I've already bought the front part. You can actually see that HERE and HERE. The purpose here was to make him like 'God Ginrai', or just Ginrai in this case.

So, the whole thing about this 2015 update is the adding of the back section, which will make a bit more sense later. So, the front part is in full colour, while the back is the traditional 'rainbow', as you commenters have dubbed it. Speaking of the back, it's a really cool addition to the figure.

Here's just a quick look at the back.

We've got a few gifs here. The first is showing the movement that you can get with the front part. Optimus Prime does rotate at the back, along with the trailer. Sadly, it does not rotate in the middle.

Although the trailer doesn't really fold up, it does transform. I present to you, base mode...

Base mode's just an added gimmick that I threw in there at the last minute. Then again, aren't most third modes on modern toys like that anyway. Unless it's meant to be a triple-changer; then that's completely different...

Just a quick look from the back.

And now we have another gif to show off! Here's a shot of the gun at the top, which can rotate 360║. I'll admit it's a little useless, but it's a fun feature.

Now, Optimus Prime has to detach from the trailer. I mean, of course he does! What is this; Star Convoy?

So, here we have Optimus Prime in his vehicle mode. Yes, there was once a time where this guy was considered the smallest transforming Optimus Prime on the internets*. However, eventually, he was surpassed by many KFOLs trying to do the same thing. It truly was a tragic day...

...nah, not really. It's still a cool figure.
*Incorrect grammar intended.

In terms of how he looks, although he's small, he's really recognisable. You could see this and say "yep; that's Optimus Prime".

The ports on the back connect to both the trailer and the armour add-ons, while the ones on the side are just for the armour.

Just to get a sense of scale, this is how small he is.

He's so small, a Minifigure can ride him!

For the last gif, because the armour can't be put on via gif, here's Optimus Prime's transformation.

And now we're onto the robot mode! It's our first step into the massive combined mode. We'll get to that eventually...

Nothing's changed here, but the reason for adding this is to introduce this MOC to the newer fans that I've picked up this year.

I've never mentioned this, but I made the back blue because I needed more balance between the colours. There'd have only been blue on the legs otherwise. For the real Optimus, that's fine because of his size, but with only two blue pieces on this figure, it wouldn't have worked.

For a size comparison, here he is next to my Sigfig. Once again, he's really small. That'll change eventually, though...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, let's start off with what I call the 'DIAclone Upgrade'.

First you have to unpeg the front section.

Then you take all the parts off...

...like so.

Then you have to separate the back of the legs from the front.

For Optimus Prime to work in this mode, his arms have to be facing back as if he's doing a comedic runaway in a classic cartoon. That way, his arms can work properly.

PHASE ONE! Take the backs of the legs...

...push them together...

...and put Prime on the front.

PHASE TWO! Take the front parts...

...get them the right way around...

...and place them on the front.

PHASE THREE! Take the arms...

...and peg them on what was once the shoulders.

PHASE FOUR! COMMENCE FINAL COMBINING! You take the section that was holding everything together...

...and peg it on the back.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here's the first combination you can get with Optimus Prime.

As I said before, he's exactly the same, so don't expect anything different here if you've seen this before.

Before the extra part was built on the trailer, the rest could attach onto the back. It sadly can't anymore, though. Oh well; it looked silly anyway.

For another size comparison, here he is again next to myself. He's a little taller, but don't worry. He's about to get a WHOLE lot bigger.

The funny thing about this mode is that a Minifigure can ride him without any stability issues! :P
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, now we can move onto the back section.

The first thing you want to do is remove the back section from the adaptor.

Then you remove the wings...

...the chest...

...the other adaptor...

...and the arms. This leaves only the legs.

Okay, so here's a look at the five new pieces that come with this set.

For this to work, all the other armour bits need to detach from Optimus Prime.

You then need to transform him in a rather strange way.

The waist folds 90║ forward, the legs fold 90║ up to cover the existing chest piece, the arms rotate 90║ up and the side-bits rotate 180║ up to fill in the gap.

The end result should look something like this.

COMMENCE COMBINING! PHASE ONE!

You take the new robot legs, and the old foot armour...

...and peg it in the same way you would with Prime.

You then do the same with the other leg.

PHASE TWO!

You take the robot section and peg the bottom of it into the top of the legs...

...like so!

PHASE FIVE! I MEAN THREE! (Monty Python reference) You take the arms...

...open them up...

...and peg them in.

PHASE FOUR! You take the old robot arms, which will become hands now...

...and peg them in.

PHASE FIVE! You take the chest-piece...

...and peg it in.

PHASE SIX! You take the back section, and this time you turn it around to see the other two pegs...

...and you clip it on.

PHASE SEVEN! COMMENCE FINAL PHASE! You take the wings.

...fold down the clips...

...fold them in...

...and clip them on. (NOTE: The wings were shown from the front in the previous shots, but you have to clip them from the back.

You then take the wings...

...and fold them in to complete the torso.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here's the updated form of Optimus Prime.

The chest-piece is a merge of WFC Optimus Prime and a Godmaster add-on. It works really well. If I had to say what it would be closer to instead of G1, I'd say IDW. They take G1 and update it, rather than reinvent it. That's what I do with this line...

In a size comparison, here he is next to myself again. NOW he's a lot bigger. Sadly, a Minifigure cannot ride him anymore, but with a guy this big, can you blame him?

And that's it! I'll add LDD as soon as I can. I'm not sure when but I will do it. Make sure to like, comment and add me as a favourite builder. And as always, happy building! :)

I was just saying how all the small Primes seem to be done by KFOLs, except mine.
Quoting Scott Bourgeois Awesome Ginrai armor! Great addition to your micro Prime.
Thanks! :)
Quoting Ketros M.o.S. Looks nice but how do you get mocpages to take the GIFs and how do you make them also is there a frame rate limit?
I first use photoshop to make the gif. Most newish versions can create gifs, and there's lots of tutorials. The basic thing is to import all the images as separate layers and then convert them into frames. From there, you can set how long each frame goes for, with a minimum of 0.1 seconds. Then, I upload it to brickshelf.com. They handle gifs just fine, and after that I can replace a stand-in image on MOCpages by replacing the URLs with that of the other website. Try clicking on a gif, and you'll see it takes you to a different site...
Quoting Chris Edwards The one thing you could do is to repalce the trailer connection with Mixel ball joints to make it move. Other that that, great Build! love the scale size at the end!
Wow, I never thought of that! Thanks. I'll credit you if I ever rebuild it in proper colours. :)
