Need a few tanks cleared out the way? Need to level a few army barracks to rubble? The Big Red' is what you need!
About this creation
Like their smaller cousin the Thylacine, Big Reds are bipedal robots that can be customised with an assortment of firearms. However, unlike it's smaller counterparts, Big Reds are colossal, heavily armoured automatons that stand up to 18 to 20 feet tall, and can handle the strain of heavy calibre weapons. In today's age of AI and robotic warfare, Big Reds are deployed in serious situations, often acting as "Tank Busters" or demolishing enemy headquarters. The sight of these titans have been known to unnerve even the most battle hardened marines when spotted approaching from the horizon.
Big Reds aren't that famous for their fast walking speed, only known to pick up to 15 MPH when sprinting.
Big Reds are equipped with small thrusters, located on the back of the main chassis and the back of the legs. These help the big reds to pick up extra speed when running, and to achieve long distance jumps to clear over ravines or rivers.
This model is equipped with a heavy calibre gun on the right side and an energy cannon on the left. It can also be equipped with a twin pair of shoulder mounted missile launchers.
The energy canon fires rounds of concentrated plantonium, an can fire up to five RPS.
The default gun is a modified Smoothbore, capable of firing armour shattering rounds.
The missile launchers fire four scatter missiles, that aim their trajectory on a chosen target.
Ground troops should have the common sense not to be in close proximity with a Big Red. If you think it's wise to be walking in front of a 60 tonne, walking tank, than expect your mortality rate to be very low.
Although they were built to fight in desert/rocky terrain, Big Reds can still be deployed to fight in urban battles. However, don't expect property damage to be very little...
Just a photo to show off this thing's size in Minifig scale
Sorry for the lack of posting here, guys! I've had a lot of things happen, such as finishing High School and dealing with computer trouble. This thing took a long time to put together, and had a lot of issues along the way. It's still a bit hard to balance at times, but nonetheless I'm rather pleased with this build.
I'm thinking of adding a few weapon variants for this, such as a chain-fed gattling gun or a pair of heavy manipulators. Let's just hope I have the necessary parts to do so!
Quoting Mister Lego ~
Wow, awesome mecha! Really like the 'chunky' feel, and he's got some pretty sweet weapons. Keep up the good work :)
Aaaaah yes, it was an interesting challenge to make this build a lot more chunky than my more streamlined builds. What helped me out a lot was using tanks and armoured vehicles as a reference, since their plating tends to be auite solid and angular. Anyway, thanks for the comment, and I'm glad you like it! :>
