LTC Babadook
Okay, seriously, why did I make this? This was a throwaway project I made just to see what I could come up with in terms of obscure crossovers. I saw a horror film called 'The Babadook', and I thought the monster design was pretty cool. Just to clarify, I usually hate horror films, but this one was enjoyable because of the creepy atmosphere taking place over cheap jumpscares. Seriously: there's not a single jumpscare in this film. Anyway, I tried making this character in Transformer form, only realising soon after how stupid the concept was. The whole film was also a psychological thriller, rather than a monster film, so this stuffs it all up. I regret building this, but you guys just may find enjoyment in this. Unlike the next creation that's coming out in the LIT section, which again shows why I should never be allowed to use Bionicle parts in a MOC...

Okay, so because I was lazy with the photography, I'll start off in robot mode.

In terms of comparison, he doesn't share that much with his rarely seen movie counterpart. However, he does have a unique body composition, which is better than usual. That reminds me: I need to make an LTC Crosshairs someday.

The back has kibble that seems a tad like a half-trenchcoat-half-cape style thing. It sort of makes him look like something out of Howl's Moving Castle.

In a poor attempt to recreate the monster's 'opening reveal' from the film, it can do this. Not quite sure what 'this' is, but I'd probably have known if I'd done this three weeks earlier when I saw the film.

Is he supposed to be scary? He seems as scary as a five year old pretending to be a monster.

Yay! Blurry back photo!

And now onto the vehicle mode. I would have shown a gif, as I am now capable of making gifs on pretty much all of my MOCs, but this photo was taken before I got Photoshop. Sorry...

In case you were wondering, this guy transforms into a sort of jet. No, you're not stupid for thinking it doesn't look like that. I don't know what I was thinking either.

The back section is a rather large brick, which works (barely).

Sadly, the head is visible in vehicle mode. Probably not the best engineering.

And that's it for the IRL stuff...

To finish off, here's the LDD file. I can't imagine why you'd want it, but here it is anyway. Now, you may be asking yourself: why do I hate this creation? The answer: I don't. I simply feel this wasn't up to my normal standards, but not so much that it ends up in Lost In Time. We all make bad creations. Heck, even I find Chris Roach's recent Bionicle MOC to be sub-standard. But in a world where online etiquette battles the anarchy on sites such as 4chan, we must realise that criticism should never be held back so long as you say it with respect. Criticise for the sake of making it better. To take it a step further, self criticism should not be 'I did bad', but rather 'I could do better'. This is the reaction I had to this after a few weeks. But fear not, after a quick Lost In Time creation, I'll be back to making proper MOCs. I'm taking a break from the addictive G1 Micro series and focusing again on Lego Transformers Conquest. If anyone's read the list from the 100th LTC MOC anniversary, you know what's next in the line. If you guess, you can choose the next G1 Micro guy I build...

Okay, how many bets on Evan Botkin guessing it again?

Quoting Alexander Leaw It's not that bad.I think it's great. You can just pretend it is something else. You,sir, just gave me inspiration for Starscream. Can you give me some tips for him?
The nose cone usually needs two joins to fold down, and the head is usually between those joints. Either that, or it slots between the joints. The trick is hiding the head. Other than that, try rotating and folding wings for extra posability and the back is just the arms and legs folded up.
Quoting Scott Bourgeois I think Babadook's vehicle mode reminds me of Laserbeak flying upside down. Points for uniqueness and creativity!
I still find it not up to my usual standards. Hopefully Hound will be better.
Quoting Alexander Leaw Thanks, what can I use as a substitute for a nose cone?
Anything really. A cone piece, a couple of sloped pegged onto a SNOT brick. Anything works.
Quoting Alexander Leaw Sorry if I am annoying you by asking questions, but what does SNOT stand for?I am quite new to mocpages.
Studs Not On Stop. It means techniques that involve building on the side, or diagonally.
