I created a brick-built figure. I have never done this before, and wanted to give it a shot. The MO round 1 creation (Helix the hungry cat) came close, and I regretted making it rigid instead of moveable. This Dwalin can move quite a lot without being too gappy!
I based the design largely on the movie version, it is just so much more fearsome; this way I could build his arsenal, which is quite extensive. Other must-includes were the tattoos on his head and his dark green cloak.
There are also some consesions; some deliberate, some not. A deliberate one is his proportions. In the movies it is wonderfully hidden, but I imagine Dwarves being shorter and stouter than humans.
Now, without further ado; Dwalin's arsenal!
Twin axes, "Grabber" and "Keeper"
And a big war hammer.
All can be tucked away on his belts.
An udelliberate consesion was to let go of the idea to make a spring-action head-butt. But it was sort of un-aivodable, as I started out with the tattoos. In the epic head-but scene, Dwalin has a mohawk. I guess he needed more room for tats as he got older... So last but not least; Dwalin's head.
This creation is all Lego, and no trickery. The only photo editing was cropping... His pelt collar is made of Minifig's capes, wired on a chain.
His shoulders are ball-joints and his elbows a hinge brick. PS, the knuckle dusters are part of his arsenal as well. This guy is not to be messed with!
His hips are ball-joints as well, his knees are hinge bricks.
So tell us, Dwalin, what do you think of MELO2014-15?
