About this creation
Here is my entry to Round 2 of the 2015 Middle-Earth MOC Olympics!
Here's my opponents impressive entry!
Category: Thorin son of Thrain son of Thror, King Under the Mountain!

Well here it is! It looks like a couple of people have also decided to do this scene as well for their categories. I'm sorry for the very poor picture quality, I had to reduce the size for the MOCpages uploader to accept the images. So the original edited photos were actually good (most of them anyway :P) This was a very tricky MOC since i've never done this much rock work and in this way before. I did a Bricklink order right after I learned my category and cleaned Premiere Bricks out of all but three of their old fire elements! :) So here is the entry (with some really poor photos...) Edit: I just got a Flickr account so now I'm able to get better pictures on my creation. Enjoy!

I am surprised that I never commented on this! Really excellent work. The fallen tree is really well-done, and the rockwork base is fantastic!

All the details are bang on! Well done presentation and photography. All the scenery is intense, fire! Swords! and awesome poses! I would also like to tell you how great your rock work is, most of the rock work I see is boring and flat. Also great tree. Top-notch creation!

I had to come back to this. Best entry so far in this year's MELO, IMO. And the lighting just makes it look even more like the scene in the movie. Also, what FNJ said, I love how the eye is naturally drawn right to where Thorin is.

Quoting David FNJ Wow, amazing job! The rockwork really stands out here. The whole scene seems to draw you to the base of the falling tree, right where Thorin is. Beautiful landscaping as well. Overall awesome job! I have a MAC, but I haven't used iPhoto it to touch up photos. I instead use GIMP, and it works great for exporting images once all of the editing is done. Also, have you considered joining Flickr? They have no problem with image sizes, and then you could get the HTML for them and then put it in a MOCpages description.
GIMP? I'll have to look into it, thanks! Yes I have considered joining Flickr.

Quoting Adam Knorr What bricks do you use to hold the rocks at that angle???
Are they actually attached??? :P The panels on the far sides and middle are attached to the base using ordinary 2 x 1 plate hinge bricks and clips. Then the main two panels on either side are held in place by the other panels, they're actually not attached to anything.

What a stunning build, it's not often we get to see landscaping so well done - and then with such great action scenes too. You found some awesome angles in this build that really highlight how awesome this is. The fire, trees, rockwork - everything is top notch here. Fine work!

It is a very rare when a MOC impresses me so much. Saying that, absolutely fantastic job! I wa amazed by the rocks - the shape is captured perfectly. Also, the tipped over tree is designed brilliantly! Honestly, i can hardly see this scene done much better! Good luck! Also, may I ask how to get edited pictures uploaded? I've had some trouble with that.

:[_____] ....wow. Thomas's build was awesome, but this one is... is... wow. That rockwork... those trees... wow. And honestly, I could not find anything wrong with the photography (or maybe mine's just terrible. :P). Well... sorry to Thomas, but I think we'll see you in R3.

Quoting Professor B. Those trees tho. Masterfully done! Really love the textures! The rocks are great, though they seem to have too many jagged edges. A wonderfully built scene anyway. Best of luck!
Thank you! I see what you mean about the rocks but, I had the movie right by me and the rocks did seem quite jagged there. Thanks for the advice!

Well here's what Tom said: "Downsize the images to about 2800 pixels", it definitely lowers the quality of the pictures but it seems like the only way, unless, like someone else said you have a Flickr account and embed it in from there. Thanks!
