About this creation

RUF CTR3

The CTR3 was released 20 years after the original Ruf CTR, on April 11, 2007 at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir,Bahrain, and 12 years after the CTR2. Continuing the Ruf tradition of enhancing Porsche automobiles, the CTR3 shares both the body panels and engine from Porsche. For the first time, however, it features a Ruf designed body built on a dedicated platform, reflecting the "classic" visual feel of older Porsche sports cars. Additionally, Ruf adpoted the Porsche Cayman's mid-engine layout for the new car, rather than the traditional rear-engine layout of the previous CTR models (CTR and CTR2). Built out of steel, aluminum, and kevlar-carbon, the car altogether weighs 1,375 kg (3,031 lb). The engine of the CTR3 is a Porsche derived 3.8 L flat-6 paired with twin KK&K turbochargers; this means the CTR3 produces 515 kW (691 hp) at 7,000rpm, and has a maximum torque of 890 N·m (660 lb·ft).

As for performance, the CTR3 has a top speed of approximately 375 km/h (233 mph), and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.1 seconds.

For the 2012 model, the engine has been upgraded to 552 kW (740 hp) and 960 N·m (710 lb·ft). The Clubsport package, which is available since 2012, boosts the power and torque to 572 kW (767 hp) and 980 N·m (720 lb·ft). All can be ordered with 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Hope you liked it friends, see you soon with a new moc.

Edit: after I received some questions about how I did the ovaliform look headlights, I'm posting a new photo with the instructions, hope that helps.

Simply stunning! 😁 Have you uploaded any instructions & brick list somewhere for untalented people like me to buy and build? I would really like to build it but I know that it would be quite hard to reverse engineer it from your pictures alone...

This is a beautiful piece of sculpture in Lego. As somebody commented in one of the blogs, the pieces just fit so well together, as though they were meant to be that way. It's fascinating to analyse the parts usage and connections in the detailed photos. I don't build cars but this inspires me to build better, smoother, more curved, more interesting shapes for my spaceships. Superb.

Quoting David Redjoy BTW - Ryan said something about the rear arches - I too understand that it might not be possible, and it is good the way it is - and you might've already thought about this but, for a better "curve" have you considered using a couple of these - http://www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-red-arch-1-x-6-x-1-with-edge-62361 - and, if you dont like the edge, you can put them on "backwards"...? =)
Thank you for the suggestions, but unfortunately I already tried everything possible, including this arche, problem is, the angled area behind the doors, nothing fit there because of it, and i couldn't give this technique up because it is the thing that gave the "Coke" bottle shape to the car. I think I already gave up on this little area and accepted it the way it is ;-)

Some great building techniques here, and just fantastic shaping all around! While I'd agree the rear wheel arches here could be more smooth, I understand well that there are some spots you just can't change without affecting the rest of the model. The details here are just great, particularly in the engine. So glad to see another car from you; it's always an inspiration.

What can I say? This is a definite Firas creation. The shaping around the front is just incredible, amazingly clean. Personally, I feel the rear wheels stick out a little far, but I'm not sure that can be helped., Te angles and techniques you've used on the rear are just mind blowing! It's just perfect! The engine is incredibly well detailed. I love the roof also, and that spoiler - wow! Sorry about such a huge comment, I didn't think I would get to see a new Firas creation.=P

To do the CTR3 justice takes some serious cajones. YOU have serious cajones! This is spectacular on every single level. Amazingly clean lines and distinctive curves give this 0-100 in 3.1 beauty a wonderful elegance (that still floors me! Along with it's price tag.) Fantastic car fantastically reproduced. Quoting David Redjoy Its gorgeous...! Love the details, and the engine, and that its red, and those shapes, and those rims, and the engine, wait, I said that already? Well, its worth mentioning again! BTW, those black hubcaps, you painted them yourself or you ordered black ones somewhere? I'd love to know, I got a spare set I'm gonna use for my upcoming white 5 "Belua" project, and wanna have them black, but cant really find anywhere to get it done.... Well, anyway, love the RUF!

Thank you my friend, really appreciate a feedback from a master builder like you, you're absolutely right about the rear arches, believe me, I spent a good amount of time to improve it without success, couldn't be improved without the bricks rub with the wheels from inside, and I like all my cars wheels to spin, thanks again buddy ;-)
