****

The Ranger Council had received thousands of complaints from upset Mythronians who were vacationing just outside of Guire for the Tourney, most of which were complaining about how gross Rainosians were, but some of which were legitimate complaints, such as the dozen or so about Lord Rego’s official windmill, or rather, the miller that ran it. There were two important complaints (among others such as Miller Willy was trying to beat them up, etc., etc.), which were that he was replacing their flour with chalk, and secondly, horror of horrors, the path leading up to the mill was wide enough for pigs and chickens, but not for cows- the Rainosians were discriminating against larger animals! :O

Recently, Ranger Julie had been hearing about the infamous killing of the Innocent Cow by a mysterious man called “Ranger Quinon”, and this, among other horrible acts that targeted the size of cows, made her decide to pay Miller Willy a visit, and have a little target practice before the second round of the Tourney ended...

****

By now I’m sure most of y’all are like “Wut! I thought Mista Cabbie was doing the mill, and you were making a feast thing with a kitchen and optionally unhappy cooks!”

Well, that was my original intention, but the more I thought about it, the more frustrated I grew about it. I looked up inspiration galore, but for some reason my heart just didn’t seem to be into making an interior. So, I considered the second option. I honestly didn’t really want to build, like, a barn, so I thought about showing a harvest, next to an inn, and then , while looking up some concept art of medieval farm things, and some consulting my team, I decided on a mill. Sure, I got really nervous when Cabbie said that he was considering building a mill, but Thomas said to go with what I felt like building, so I did. Which means I get to blame him if I lose :P

Okay, end of ranting, start of the horrible pictures. I blame my camera breaking :P

One experiment here that I did was the color scheme for the landscaping, something which, IMO, turned out well. Dark orange, medium dark flesh plates, sand orange, and olive green all are not the most common colors, and this, as well as the fact that I ran out of dark tan, led to a middle-of-the-week freak-out/Bricklink scramble for me, but even though almost all of the landscaping was finished in a rush (as in, yesterday and today :P), I’m pretty happy with the general result. Feel free to critique in the comments if you disagree.

TT R2 Pictures 014

The turbines here were a major pain in the behind. I spent at least three whole hours going through different prototypes and then, later on today, tediously locking the blades in several different SNOTted ways so that they would stop flying off the build and crashing into the walls or myself when I turned one of the programs- which, in fact, through the use of part of the EV3 set, actually can make the turbines turn. Unfortunately, because of technological issues too complicated for me to delve into right now (including my camera deciding to break), I wasn't able to take a video, but if time allows I will take/post a video here after judging is finished.

(Yes, that weird garden thing that I threw in last minute to make this build relevant to my category has corn growing in it, not cabbage :P)

Good luck to everyone left in the Tourney, and thanks to the judges for hosting this year!

Wow, I didn't think you'd actually respond.xD Yeah, I worked around that in the story, and there wasn't really any realistic opening for her appearance in the rest of my story- but I will now MAKE a way for her to fit in, just because I now have your permission.;)

Quoting Lolimon The Wise This is infinitely better than what I could have done. Hey, I know you're not active, but could I use your character? Actually, reading your story, Julie won't be in Mythron in time, as she's in Rainos.:P She still might be an Easter egg type person if I can get the right pieces, or a almost-close-facimily-thereof.xP
Hey mate! IDK if you still need my official blessing, but feel free to do whatever with Julie as long as you keep her fairly true to character, don't kill her off, don't make her go streaking through Rainos, you know ;) Cheers!

Thanks, Jack! :)
Quoting Ian Spacek Beautiful work. If I ever substantially branched into the castle theme, I'd probably go for something like a mill too (houses and fortifications are so common now, haha). Splendid details throughout!

Quoting Benjamin Olson Good build. Nice job. But are you sure that's corn? It looks more like weeds.
Well, they probably are :P Miller Willy cares more about money than he does about tending his garden :P Thanks for the comment, Ben.

Quoting Benjamin Corey Great job! I think the only thing I would change would be to replace the Dark Orange parts of the landscaping with Dark Green. The windmill-blade-thingys (Because I'm too lazy to Google the word) are very well done too.
Thanks, Ben. I have to disagree on the landscaping with you, though, primarily because I wanted this build to have a warm color (you prob. know this, but warm colors are like tan, dark tan, red, orange, yellow, etc.) scheme, and having dark green in it would first mess that up, and secondly, would be too jarring in comparison to the tan/olive green. Also, I picked the dark orange color because it's the closest color to red on the color wheel, which is the complementary color of green (since having Christmas colors in my build would look a little off :P), which I think makes the colors complement each other nicely. I'm glad you like the turbines though- they took a LOT of work to get to the right size/shape :P
Quoting Nathan Pownell Wow, those colors for the ground are sick. Excellent selection! This is a well thought-out build. Good luck! :)

Quoting Ian ... How dare he be mean to caows! They are the most awesome animals ever! Great build Julia. It seems like your builds are getting bigger and bigger...
IRK? And yeah. Instead of starting to build, and trying to get it as big as I could, I started with the border and tried to fill everything else in, something which I think worked well here. Thanks for the comment, Ian! :)
Quoting Thomas of Tortuga THOSE COLORS ARE SO BOSSSSS! I LOVE IT ALL!
Quoting Thomas of Tortuga IT'S LATE AND I FORGOT I ALREADY COMMENTED! THESE COLORS LOOK SO GREAT! AND SO DOES EVERYTHING ELSE ON THE WALLS AND THE MILL! YAY! HIGH-MODE ACTIVATED!

Quoting Halhi 141 Wow, this is fantastic. Not a fan of the lower roof or the stonework, but the timber section and especially the landscaping more than make up for that - good luck!
I get both a "wow" and a "fantastic" from the great Halhi? :P Anyways, while they aren't my favorite ever, I think the stonework and roof are pretty good saying that they were the last things I built at 10 pm :P Thanks for the comment!
Quoting Stephen Boe The colors are great, and the photography really strengthens them. The mill turbine is pretty awesome too. :DD

Quoting Reese Hawthorne Very nice build! Good luck in TT!
Thanks Reese!
Quoting Tirrell Brown Your landscaping really stands out, but why the transblack plates on the ground? Or am I missing something?
Thanks Tirrel! The transblack plates (and cheese slopes) were both for balancing out all the warm colors, and also to help tie the landscaping to the stonework. I fancy them puddles, but I honestly don't know what they are :P
Quoting Alex Rode Wow, great color choices.
Thanks Alex! :)
Quoting Graham Gidman This is amazing, just amazing!
Thanks for the comment, Graham! :)
Quoting Armon Russ That windmill . . . amazing work. I love all the textures, and your landscape colors are fantastic. I'm working out a color scheme of my own with almighty dark red. :P But it pales in comparison to this. Great work!
