I have always wanted to build the Iron Giant but I only recently had the part resources I needed. The Giant is 47" tall and weighs about 60 lbs.
The hardest part of the design was making a frame in the arms and legs that would hold the entire body up. He has such skinny joints in the legs arms and hips that there was very little room for technic beam elements.
It was interesting/challenging making all of the differently shaped panels that cover the Giant. I built a loose skeleton model to build up all the panels, then I took them all off and built up a strong interior frame.
I rebuilt his neck several times to give it a good angle.
This is one of my favorite movies and it was a really fun design and build project.
Great job! You really did a perfect job on this MOC. I wonder if you could make a version of him when he's blowing up the city (his "gun" mode). And the kids saying, "you no gun" (or however he said it).
Wow! That thing is massive. Great work on managing the weight of this beast, and the accuracy is pretty stunning. Nice work on the detailing. I especially like the effect of the visible bolts on the chest plates. Really great work.
I was truly dumbfounded for a few seconds viewing this MOC. I must say, you have really captured one of my favorite movie characters with incredible accuracy, and for that you are one of my MOC heroes. I can almost hear him say "No following..."
OMG I'm so happy that somebody finally built the giant and to epic and such detailed proportions :D this was and still is one of my all time favourite films which is so under appreciated and underrated :( Anyway your build is just brilliant, amazing techniques and skill espically around those joint parts, that must have been tricky, I am so envious of your building skill man you are super super amazing!!!
Holy COW this thing is HUGE, like a....whats the word.... GIANT! This is an incredible feat benjamin! Im glad you were able to acquire the parts you needed to finish this work of art! Keep building friend.
Absolutely incredible and jay dropping rendition of a classic character. I stand in awe of a master.

I remember this movie. I used to watch it all the time when I was younger. I was wondering if anyone was going to make something on it. This is a great take on the giant and I love how accurate it is to the actual thing.
You, sir, get a standing ovation for this masterpiece! I love all the details and the perfect shaping. But I especially love it when a beautiful creation like this leaves my jaw on the floor. This is truly a labor of love and it most assuredly shows. Beyond outstanding!
Oh wow. This is quite simply spectacular! Every detail is perfectly recreated, and the shapes are bang on. This was probably my most watched film as a kid, so to see such an impressive Lego version is great. Excellent stuff.
