TT R5: The Legend of Sir Bayard
The tale of Mythron's best (and ancestor of Rego Arian), Sir Pierre de Bayard!
About this creation
The Tourney 2015

TT R5: A Prideful Defeat

Sir Bayard grimaced and tried to stand, but felt his once powerful muscles give out, and suddenly felt like he was floating through a haze of pain. He felt as though his legs were turning to stone. He felt so cold, as if the battle was moving in slow motion. He watched helplessly as his trusted band of warriors, his friends who'd proven themselves in battle countless times, fell one by one to the enemy. The golden warriors moved like lightning, their strikes fast and unpredictable. These warriors were not only experts in combat, but were also adept magic wielders. Bayard could do nothing as his forces began to panic, they were without a leader; they'd lost their head, and it was too late for them now.

2

As Bayard struggled to rise again, a golden figure approached, a gloating look on his face. His hands soaked with his own blood, Bayard's expression turned to fiery fury as he saw the gold night. "Charles," spat Bayard, looking at his ex general with disgust.

"Ah, my old friend, pleased to meet again! Never expected to see a knight of your stature like this, watching his forces destroyed, bleeding out surrounded by the enemy! To think, the great Sir Bayard of Mythron, thought to be invincible, kneeling in defeat before me!"

Bayard spat at Charles; the bloody saliva landing in front of his feet. "Seems you're still quite fond of me... You traitor!"

"Ha! There's not a single lord who wouldn't pay handsomely for you. You have quite the reputation my friend!"

TT R5: CHARGE!

"You have done the impossible time, and time again. But fate has finally caught up with you, Bayard! The Phascians from Larpang might have been crushed by you, but here you will meet your end," Said Charles with a chuckle.

"I led that charge... My men and I utterly defeated those outlaws. To think they called themselves a well oiled army," Managed Bayard between coughing fits.

CHARGE! 2

"Ah, but they truly were an exemplary army! It truly disgusts me, they had the upper ground, and had capitalized on Mythron's mistake. Your country should have been defeated, but you, the heroic knight, led a charge. You rode up the mountain, but still, they stood no chance."

CHARGE! 3

"Fate was with us," Said Bayard, looking at Charles boldly.

CHARGE! 4

"Or dumb luck," spat Charles.

TT R5: A Heroic Defense

"I truly do admire you though. Holding that fortress outside of Rogath? Truly unbelievable. And slightly infuriating, you weren't even hurt!"

"Spare your tongue, traitor! Your words are poison."

4

"Ha! Well, you must take my poison! Feel free to leave if you wish!", Charles smiled as the helpless Bayard stared silently. He then continued, "Yes, as I was saying, your 75 men held the fortress against 10,000 orcs!"

3

"Reedus would have stood no chance against such a horde! But you managed to spot them. Truly despicable," spat Charles.

"It was a proud day. We fought for Mythron!"

2

"Mythron is weak! You were their only grace! Without you, your precious country would have, and should have, been destroyed countless times!" Said Charles with a fire in his crazed eyes.

"But we always endeavored, and your rebellion will soon perish like the frail twig it is," Replied Bayard with a smile.

4

"Bah!" Raged Charles, "This is enough, boy! You will not survive to see your country fall! I have killed the great Bayard! Look at the wound in your side, it is enough to kill a man ten times over! You will be dead in minutes!" Charles, lowered his weapon to Bayard's throat, "But maybe I'll help fate... Hurry things up." Charles looked arrogantly into Bayard's eyes, looking for a sign of defeat, hoping he would beg for mercy. He found only pride and peace in the great knight's eyes.

3

"You disgust me, you all disgust me. I pity you," said Bayard, and several of the enemy soldiers looked at him in surprise.

"And why is that, little knight? We should be the ones pitying you! Mythron's finest dying at the hands of the rebellion!" Said Charles.

"Sir, there is no need to pity me. I die as a man of honour ought, doing my duty; but I pity you, because you are fighting against your king, your country, and your oath. You dirty traitor. To think I was called you brother. You will know no mercy from Mythron, and your petty rebellion will crumble," Said Bayard with a look of utter assurance on his face.

Charles roared, and leaped forward, his crown falling from his head. His sword flew forward, and pierced Bayard's flesh. A trickle of blood ran from his chest.

So died Pierre de Bayard, the last and greatest true knight of Mythron.

There ends the story! Now for some figless shots!

Figless 7

The mountainside was my first build. Does its job nicely!

Figless 5

Second build was this nice little slope-scape. I like the colors, fitting for a scene of battle IMO. Blood and weapons are scattered.

Figless 6

Figless

The third, and best build IMO.

Figless 2

I built this whole build on Saturday, in about 3 hours.

Figless 3

IMO it turned out really well, especially the stonework. I like the landscape too though!

Figless 4

This is one of my favorite builds yet! The brackets on the tower is an idea I copied from Derfel Cadarn. Hope he doesn't mind! I forgot to ask before hand...

That was tiring! All these builds were made on weekends, I had not time to build one Monday-Thursday! Still, they all turned out well IMO. I got to use those new plant pieces in the fortress build, so that was fun at least! :P

Good luck to all the others! Can't wait to see what Cabby puts together! And thanks to the judges for putting this awesome contest together! :D

Thanks for looking!

Quoting Mr. Cab Since I am the ruler of Larpang, can I reference to the Outlaw army from Larpang that you talked about? Also, great builds! The one with just rocks seems a bit lifeless, but the shaping on that one is great. The battlefield is sweet, and the tower is outright epic. I also love how all of your builds have the same style of base, that really ties the story together. EDIT: I almost forgot, Good luck!
Thanks a ton! And sure!

Excellent job man! The third build is definitely my favorite, though the other two still have their merits. The first is very neat looking with those large boulders, and I definitely think that the minifigures added a lot to the build. The second was similar to the first, but instead added some touches of color, which were tastefully done, and the sloping landscape was likewise well done. Your third build is very similar to the second, and it includes an excellent tower and wall. The entranceway too is superb! I especially like the top of the tower. I was going back and forth between the two entries, but ultimately came to the decision to cast my vote to you! Your consistency in quality, even though you sacrificed size and originality with the scenes won you my vote.

Superbly done with all of your builds, the texturing on the tower and the rockwork for all of them is fantastic. You have certainly established a style that suits you and that you execute very well, however I would really like to see some more variation, especially with this set of builds as they all have the same feel. Though this is not at all a bad thing, to build three scenes which could practically be incorporated all into one seems somewhat counter productive. That being said to judge on what I personally want to see would be to ignore the brilliant works that you have produced, something which I cannot do. It's not quite what I would have liked to have seen, but the execution in terms of rockwork, textures and detailing beats out your opponent's creative variation and as a result you get my vote.

Nice sets of builds! It must of been a challenge to pull off three builds in 10 days, and while I would have enjoyed seeing some more originality, you did well. The stone wall has some nice textures, but looks like it's growing masonry bricks, while he rockwork looks wonderful, but could use some other color, as an all dark grey landscape is sorta dull. Best of luck! :)

Quoting Ian ... Great builds Infy! Nice story to go along with them to. I really like the builds. The rockwork is spectacular, and that tower looks great. Ha, you thought that comment about "the last and greatest true knight of Mythron" would put all us Mythronians down, but jokes on you. My character was born before this so he is still great. :P
Thanks Ian! Uh, well, maybe your character is ok. :P
Quoting Reese Hawthorne Excellent build and great story! Good luck in Round 5!
Thanks Reese!
Quoting The Bane of Bricks The tower is definitely the strongest of the three builds, followed closely by the battle scene, but that last one with just rocks...that was kinda weak. Still nice work and good story!
Thanks Brick!
Quoting Andrew Spader This is some set of builds! The rockwork is impressive, and the landscaping looks good as well. The stonework fits in good as well. Excellent build!
Thanks!
Quoting Joseph Olson Wow, very well done! I do tend to agree with Cab. on this one. :) Man, this multiple build thing seems to be in fashion right now...
Thanks! Haha, one of the requirements was that the entry to this round needed to have 3 builds. ;)
Quoting Regenerate . The textures and details are great! Nice job as usual.
Thanks Regenerate!
Quoting Joehead14 _ Amazing detail and color scheme on the castle. Fight scenes are all well thought out and organized. Great job!
Thanks!
Quoting Armon Russ Awesome scenes! The one with all rocks could've used a secondary color to break it up, but it has some good slopes. The first scene though, is very good, and utilizes the colors nicely. As for the last one . . . well, it's a bit too reminiscent of your Round 2 entry, but I like that doorway. The stonework is good, too. And your story . . . you could be a pretty promising writer if you spent the time on it. But I'm guessing you'd rather use it to build? :P
Thanks a bunch! Yeah, another color would've been could in hindsight, but I thought all dark bley looked good. Color could've made it more interesting though. Yeah, the fortress is like my TT R2, mainly just in basic layout though. Tower top and doorway are main difference. And that the tower's tilted. I'll try to write more from now on, just as long as it doesn't take more than like 45 minutes. :P
Quoting Thomas of Tortuga Wow, a story that's more than a paragraph! That's awesome, Infy! :P The stonework is kinda basic, and you kinda spammed on the masonry bricks there. Nice job on the sloped mountain rockwork, though.
Haha, I know! What an achievement! :P. Thanks! Honestly, I really like the stonework. Thanks! :)

Quoting Stephan Niehoff This is not only a very beautiful scene with a perfect building. No, the countryside and the Minifigure are also wonderful.

Quoting Defiant Banana It's not fair, you have too many pieces. Still, impressive, every time.
Thanks! I took apart these builds after I photographed them. I still have a pretty good amount of pieces though. :P. I just barely have enough stonework pieces, I'm always out or almost out of them when I'm done. ;)
Quoting Professor B. Love that stonework and the rockwork in that one "charge" scene (I'll read the story later). I'm not sure about what I think of the first build, though. It might just be the lighting, but the colors are really WOW. :P The other builds are great though! Good luck!
Thanks Professor! ;). The colors in that one are the same as the keep build, except with the trans red for blood. Do you not like the trans red? I thought it was cool, added to the battle look. Thanks!
