ST rnd 1 - Trident Class Long Range Heavy Fighter "Green Jewel"
An armoured interstellar fighter to strike hard and fast behind enemy lines...
About this creation

This is my entry for the first round of the 2015 Spacecraft Tournament.
Category : fighter.

The Trident Class ships all share the triple fin-propeller assembly. In this case, the photon engines also fuel three energy weapons (the golden parts).

Two triple hypercinetic-missile launchers complete the arsenal (the silver tubes).

While definitely not designed for atmospheric flight, the Green Jewel is however a deadly opponent in space. While the thrusters deliver high power and speed, they also allow excellent manoeuvrability with their directional nozzles, enhanced by magnetic brakes (the three lime spheres).

Although I tried to only use three shades of green for the hull, and gold and silver for the greebles and weapons, you may still find some spots of black here and there...

The underside :

Without the cockpit :

Sadly it doesn't open, but you can take it out. The Green Jewel is often piloted by Tauran mercenaries, and this one is no exception. Hi there!

The pilot seat and aiming computer (above) :

Weaponry :

Don't forget to check the silver greebles before taking space!

Thanks to Gerald F and Commander Bricks for hosting this cool contest! Thanks everyone for watching, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did... Bye!

Quoting Pico van Grootveld Wonderful shaping, cool colors and I love the cockpit! Great fighter Tom
Thanks! I think I've been lucky with that cockpit, that radar dish fitted with the second assembly I tried! I would have given up after a few trials...

Quoting David Roberts A very different but excellent colour scheme. I like the shape too, which seems very alien.
The alien aspect came during the building so I'm glad it shows in the end!

Quoting Marc dZ The use of various green colors is unusual but excellent! The agressive design makes the result stunning. The trans parts at the back are very cool. Deserved score!
Thanks! I managed to use 3 over my 6 shades of green, and 2 over my 3 trans green, maybe I'll make one with all of them one day :-) Now guess what is my favourite color?

Quoting Stephan Niehoff Yes, the end of the tail
It's regular SNOT, 1x1 bricks with a stud on side. The bowed dark green parts on the side and the 2x4 plate at the rear are fixed that way. The whole block is clipped under the dk green wings at the top. The same 1x1 mod bricks are place upside down at the base to clip the same wing parts under the ship - if that's clear? ;-) It is pretty sturdy...

Quoting Stephan Niehoff Most of all i like the colors Tom. The cockpit especially the seat is a feast for the eyes. The wing shape is right awesome. In the case of jet engines i must Commander Bricks speak again. For me your engines are very well thought out and have exactly the technical touch that i like. It is interesting mounted bowl at the rear. How is this fixed?
Thanks, I love that seat too! At last, someone who recognizes an ion engine! :D Which part are you talking about? The end of the tail?

Quoting Gerald F. This ship is gorgeous!!! I love how the different green tones you've added look so great together along with the gold parts of the ship. Also, the overall shape of the ship is stunning and fits in to that Alien style. Score: 5

Quoting Kermunklin the Giant Evil House Head I must say, this is my favorite build for the contest so far. I'm not typically the biggest fan of SNOT wings on small fighter crafts, but this vessel could change a man! At the same time it looks sleek, retro-futuristic, well thought out, elegant, and organic (that last one because of the color, I guess. It looks like the kind of spaceship Kermit might fly! Good Luck!
Thanks for a nice comment! And yes, I bet Kermit would enjoy this!

Quoting Mihe Stonee what a beautiful form on that cockpit - hot... ;-) ! most i like the design with the dish on the underside - how did you connect it ?
Thanks! I clipped a round 4x4 plate under the dish, then clipped a hinge brick under the plate. The hinge brick is horizontal and clipped on two headlight bricks. And the whole bottom of the ship is built upside down. :-)
