Koenigsegg Agera R
Hey there, this is my Entry for the Speed Champions building Contest. http://mocpages.com/group.php/25015 . I chose the Koenigsegg Agera R, since its a beast of a car and i like the very extravagant colouring they use (for example in the recent NFS movie). I hope you enjoy, feel free to rate and comment;)
About this creation

well, we could argue about the colour, but one must admit, thats a very brave choice from the Designers at Koenigsegg. I think its very unique and recognisable. For some reason the colour of the bricks turned out more pinkish. Now if i had the new mudgards in LDD, the car would be a bit higher, allowing also more rear detail. But i think it tuned out ok. If i would have done it higher, it would look a bit weird since mudguards appear small then. Here you see a pic of the real car, pic is from the net.

The real thing in a more neutral colour, below my MOC in comparison

This build took me 3 hours in making, 2 hours rendering all the shots. I bet some of you know, that this is not the way i usually build Cars (especially after my new scaling). But for this Contest i made an exception since its a cool idea from Andy and its nice to try something different from time to time. You will notice that the black stripe is a bit longer on the real one, but i wanted to use that round slope piece, like they do in the official sets. Whilst building, i always compared to some of the sets rear views to catch the Speed Champions flair, i do think it turned out ok;)

A huge issue was the windscreen and roof. in the sets they introduced new pars, and also use stickers to cover up a bit here and there. I took a windscreen that looked pretty modern, a few round pieces for the roof design. I also used the snowboard as a spoiler, like the Speed Champion Mclaren set. Out of SPeed Champions authenticy, i wanted to use stickers for the headlights, since they do in the set, but thats beyond my povray skills...and also a bit insulting to the lego bricks they stick on in my opinion. I took the goldbars in transparent instead (probably dont exist, but ey, its a design contest after all;)) and tilted them into position. You can see that at its best in the main pic. AND it fits one Minifig with interiour. Also note, if you enlarge the image of last pic, you can see i installed a screwdriver holder in the cockpit right under his green glove^^. The drivers always have tools in the Speed Champions set, just a nice touch i thought. I think i did everything the contest asked for (except for the new mudguards, but as LDD builder im not able to, since i dont have those in there) But i bet, you folks can get the picture with new mudguards and wheels using your imagination (one layer higher...thats it)
Hope you enjoyed :)

Quoting Scott Bertaut Really nice, it sounds like you liked the Need for Speed movie too, I thought it was great, but most people think its bad. The design of this car is really good, I love some of the ideas like the snowboard spoiler and slanted headlights. I like the colors too, both the blue and white versions. Great work!
Thanks scott, yep, i did like the movie, primarly for its car assembly. i mean its a movie about racing, doenst need too much of a plot (which was actually pretty good for that kind of genre in my opinion). That koenigsegg race really inspired me to make this MOC. So, thanks for your kind words:) greets, ron.

Very impressive work. I was just wondering if you ever tried using the tooth piece for the headlights, maybe that would look a bit better? Also, I think the side intakes should be longer by about 1 brick :)

hey Dr. Petrolhead. Nice to see you again. Thanks for commenting. I did try with the tooth piece (came first to my mind), but it has a stud on top and looked weird rendered in side view. I know about the side intakes (the black you mean?) to be longer, as stated in the text i wrote compared to actual photo. But for speed champions contest i had to use those slope pieces and usual techniques to get the "style" right (couldnt find another connection that is simple enough for the theme). The whole car is "comprimised" in my opinion. Compared to my other MOCs, you can see that this is not the way i usually build. as stated, i wanted to make it look like an official lego set for the contest;) Keep up your great automobile work buddy, greets, ron.

Quoting Gallardo of LU looks great! but I do have one question, how many of those parts are actually available in pink? (or trans red for those knives, those look fantastic used like that) I'd really like to see this built in bricks, I'd settle for the white one but the pink is much more eye catching. well done!
Hey man, first of all, thanks for your kind comment! Concerning the bricks and colouring....phew....i really dunno. I suppose its hard to get that many pink parts in real life, also, as i wrote, head and tailights very unlikely to exist in transparent colours, but since this is a design, i didnt really care about that :P. In real bricks, i use grey/silver or black parts for head and taillights, like on my recent Lamborghini. Lego is pretty short on transparent pieces anyway. But out of your concern, i will add a pic of this MOC with existing bricks, see how much is possible. I can check on LDD changing theme if pieces exist. a bit of work, but no problem. Also good luck to you in the contest. Your Viper and Pagani are real eyecatchers! greets, ron.

Quoting eric s Duuuuude! This is awesome!!! Crazy to see a departure from your usual style - you pulled off a sweet rendition of the Agera R. Was it a difficult car to make in 6wide? (no wonder I tend to do more standard types of cars LOL) Nice SNOT techniques around the front and side skirts as well - a very sharp build for your first "LEGO-type" 6wide!
hey mate, thanks for your kind comment! Glad you like it so much;) It was not as hard as my 7 wides, but hard for me to resist making it super low and go exactly the other way (up in height) to match the speed champions style. Also fitting in only one minifig was a bit strange (he's got soo much space^^). But on the other hand, its very solid, easy to build, and playability is probably top nodge. Exactly what Lego aimed for i think. Maybe i can try making it in red and in real bricks and check out if what i just wrote matches reality. Gotta drive a few miles for them though;) I really like your new MOCs btw, keep those coming! greets, ron.
