Liquid ABS Processing Facility
This is part of the collaborative build Mining Frenzy.
About this creation
Here is my part of this collaborative build, based on an idea from Stephan Niehoff, tastefully edited by Pico van Grootveld, narrated by Tim C… not to forget all the builders! Pretty proud of everyone of us, gal and guys!

Picovangrootveldised version:

The Liquid ABS Company or LABCO is an independent ABS producer. This is one of their many facilities implanted in the Terpon Cluster. The deep core extraction pillar digs into the asteroid, extracting and processing the highly toxic liquid absinite. This is the kind that can be turned into hard, transparent clear, cat-hair proof-absinite products. Dropships fly in and out of the landing pad to deliver the goods to local buyers.

The base, free of vehicles.

From above.

The process starts here, at the extraction derrick (sorry for the disconnected hose, I noticed it on the pictures waaay after having dismantled this baby!)

Though the surfacing absinite that can be seen is frozen, it is indeed liquid in the core of the asteroid.

A conduit leads to the main filters where the product is purified and neutralised, flowing through the massive pumps to...

...the mould and its tank. The liquid stored in the tank is quickly heated and frozen into a PART (Pure Absinite Rectangular Template), a standard chunk of absinite ready for industrial use.

Here you can see the PART coming out of the oven/freezer.

The forklift crawler docking the PARTs.

The control centre next to the antenna also houses a small lab to perform tests on the absinite at the filtering stage of the process.

"Calling dropship #2, ready for shipping!"

Clearing the landing pad.

The handler robot loading the PARTs on the dropship.

And now some more details, starting with the main building.

A path leads from the living quarters to the control centre.

Though the bigger part of the building is underground, LABCO has been kind enough to provide the workers with a radiation-proof glass wall in the common room. Nice!

The airlock. The closed dark gray sliding door leads to the common room.

LABCO's local director and his assistant enjoying a cup of coffee, watching the workers outside sweating in their heavy spacesuits...

Onto the little builds! The forklift crawler :

The supervisor mech. Each machine has their spotlights and cameras, the latter being checked by the supervisor in real time.

"Phew! Didn't break a leg when getting off that thing! I wonder which company designed this mech..."

The PART handler robot

Nicely posable.

And finally, the dropship.

Loaded with four PARTs.

The underside.

Landing gear retracted.

Cockpit opened. Those space designers never run out of original ways to open a cockpit.

And finally this is my personal edit. (Pico's one is way cooler!)

Thanks for visiting! Don't forget to check the other builds, bye!

One of the best parts of designing a spaceship is making the cockpit open or just cramming it with things that look like controls!

This is incredibly well designed and built. All the vehicles have this specific design, the result is awesome!! I do prefer the shape of the control centre. I also like how you covered the base plate, it's very clever. Stunning work!

Quoting matt rowntRee SOOO MUCH DETAIL! God, I love this! It's the dream of ALL AFOLs to revisit the command base and improve it. This achieves that in spades! The style of everything works so well and the vehicles are worthy of their own page. Clever techniques with an old school feel. Absolutely love the clean lines of this. Such a completely awesome corner of the collab. Outstanding! BTW for some reason Mocpages didn't have you as one of my favs when I'm certain that you were. It did that to me before with another builder. Weird and corrected. ;)
We've been used to weirder things on MocPages ;-) Thanks for the kind comment! You can guess it has been a great fun to build throughout! I discovered that using old windscreens gives an oldschool feel even when it's built with "modern" techniques...
