21109 exo-suit Alternate MOC: Recon Surface Rover
Recon Surface Rover: An alternate build to the super awesome LEGO set 21109, the Exo-Suit.
About this creation

I recently took down alot of official LEGO models and some MOC's that had been taking up shelf space, as i broke down my Exo-Suit i noticed there were some 'wheel' shaped parts in the kit. It quickly got me thinking about building a vehicle, i set to work a few days later and came up with this Recon Surface Rover. A Satellite is built into the rear of the rover, a full roll cage protects the pilot with protective gull-wing doors. Enjoy and feel free to comment.

Quoting Tanner Compton Awesome! Loads of great detail and parts usage; I especially like the roll cage!
Cheers tanner, the roll cage was the most fun to integrate into the build after I finished designing the non-wheel wheels :-)

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Fantastic alternate model, keeps the same style while being just as cool (if not more). Great presentation as well!
Thanks Luke! The Exo-suit set is just great for tinkering with, there are some many awesome connections that can be made with those parts. Cheers

Quoting Nerds forprez I love alternates to the Exosuit. Alternates are a given with Technic sets but not so much with other genres. Great job!
Thanks for the kind words needs forprez!!! Your work in the same style is amazing, keep it up!

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Great work on making an alt so different from the original model. Love the second to last photo - the rear 3/4 view. I actually have this set but have not had time to open it!!
Cheers Joe! My second alt, the AT-EU (http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/413210), came out slightly similar to the Exo-suit, so yes it was awesome to pull something this far off from The original. I'm super pleased with it, and yes I agree, that rear 3/4 shot is a good one!

Quoting Clayton Marchetti Absolutely brilliant! I love how you came up with the wheels. Very inventive. I like how the hose wraps around the vehicle. Excellent work!
Hey buddy, thanks so much for the kind comments!! I'm glad you like this alt so much, it was a blast to build. That Exo-suit set is just amazing if it did have actual rubber wheels it would be a creator set! Haha.

Quoting Marc dZ Excellent idea!! I could not think such creation would be possible. Result is very cool.
Thanks Marc, I've finished my next alt for this set, and already brainstorming for the 3rd alt!!!

Quoting David Roberts A great buggy, especially as it's from a set with no wheels! I like the angled roll cage. Neat background too.
Cheers David! Thanks for coming to check my little alternate out. The roll cage is my favorite part of the rover as well, I spent the most time tweaking that to perfection. I decided I needed a new background for my MOC's, I was inspired by Shannon Youngs 'walls' posts (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/51701) this morning and went on a hunt for a good set to use as a backdrop. I settled on the Tantive IV, set 10198, it's chock full of grey and white and tons of hub caps from the massive engines! It worked perfect, I plan on using it for the next few MOC photo shoots.

Quoting Kermunklin the Giant Evil House Head That is a great alt form for the walker, truly well-designed and wonderfully greebled. It would look better, I think, with some actual wheels instead of wheel-shaped parts (or whatever), but it's still a great looking rover and I've got to respect you for sticking to just the 21109 pieces. Great build!
Thanks Kermunklin! It totally would look amazing with some rubber tires on there.

Quoting Cameron Wilson Awesome!
cheers Cameron :-)
Quoting Dr. Merlock That's awesome dude. I love the backround. I have that set, but I would never have thought of building a rover out of it. I also don't think that I could bring myself to take it apart.
thanks man! The Tantive IV came in quite handy for background building, haha, I should post my backdrop as an 'alternate build' for the Tantive, haha. I have had my Exo suit built since it was released, it is my favorite set and it so nice looking on the shelf, but once I tore it down I couldn't resist building an alt, I'm excited to do it all over again.

Quoting Josiah Nelson The Exo-Suit just went up to a whole new level of awesome with this alternate build. I love the photography on this build, and just like the suit, all of the greebles throughout! Nice job Damon!
wow josiah, you make me smile a bunch! I am so happy my rover is being so well by the community. I wanted to ensure the greebling wasn't too erratic, it's easy to go overboard with this set. This has to be one of my favorite sets released by LEGO in recent memory.
Quoting Yann (XY EZ) Great creation.
thanks Yann! I'm glad you came by and checked this out.
Quoting The Royal Brick Great work Damon! All of the details are nice, but I especially like the use of the flexible tube!
Thank-you Royal Brick! The tube really came through and made that roll cage ROCK!
