Entry to 2015 BBFC:It's a Jailbreak!
Chell and a defective turret from Portal 2. built with 200 pieces.
About this creation
This is my belated entry to the 2015 Brick Built Figure Contest. It's late, which stinks. But anyway, this is a model of Chell and a defective turret from the game Portal 2. A rather iconic scene, I think, so I hope you like it.

These are Chell's pieces:
I maximized the requirements at 150 pieces.
These are the defective turret's pieces:
There's 50. count 'em.

Here are a few extra pictures showcasing different sides and poses. I will add to this as the renders finish and organize it once I am done.

Awesome Duo Backside

Thank you for looking!

Quoting Tom Remy First, sorry that I'm 2 weeks late but as promised, here's my comment! Though I'm not familiar with the game, after googling those guys I had to admit they're pretty good! I wasn't overthrown by a particular aspect of your build but I thoroughly appreciated your attention to details and smart techniques: Chell's face and legs, the portal gun, the complex assembly of the turret and of course, the epaulette! I have the same remarks as Matt regarding the MP. As you said, procrastination is not worth it, it may have made you miss the podium this time... We hope to see you take your revenge next year!
Thank you for closing the circle, Tom, and I appreciate your comment. Yes, I have my eye on next year for sure. I'll only be better off if I submit early, so I'm hoping for good things! Cheers good sir and thank you also for judging this stellar competition.

Quoting Oran Cruzen A great work of Lego "Brick Built Figure" creationism!
Thank you, Oran! It's my first brick-built figure, but it turned out just dandy.

Quoting matt rowntRee Go ahead and edit this post with the images showing all the angles, no need to reinvent the wheel. All the judging is done and the creations are your to play with. I would very much like to see the entirety and look forward to stealing more ideas from you. ;)
Haha, I'm SURE that will happen! Editing in progress.

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist A very unique take on figure design which I've not seen much of, suits the build well. Very cool!
Thank you, LCV. I did plenty of searching and only uncovered exactly one smaller-sized replica of the defective turret made out of Lego, so that was an immediate go for me. I'm excited you like it!

Quoting matt rowntRee Chell’s head is brilliant! Having it at that tilt adds so much to the feel. And you gotta dig poufy orange pants. I love the pose that she’s in as it adds a bit of humanity to her struggle. The defective turret is brilliantly constructed; I only wish that there was a bit more interaction and dynamism in it. But, I suppose it is defective. ;) I am going to steal your epaulette usage just to give you fair warning as that is just way too cool to pass up. Credit of course. ;) I do have to rule on some of the MPs unfavorably though. I realize that you rushed to get the entry in and unfortunately, it suffers for it. Not aesthetically or character-wise, just in the MPs that are hidden from view. I am able to see the Mudguards and the genius epaulette, but the others are hidden in the single image and the parts list. I’m afraid that I will only be able to count the two. But in spite of that, this was a herculean effort to skate in here and I look forward to seeing more images of this. Especially some of the techniques you used to build them as they are rather innovative. Outstanding!
Thank you for everything, Matt: hosting the contest, holding the door open for late me, being a great role model, and just about everything else. I'm glad the face turned out to be a winner; I liked it at first, but didn't expect it to receive this sort of acclaim. The epaulettes were my favorite Mystery Piece usage in the build, and actually inspired the use of that character. About his animation, non-mobility is really what I was going for. In the game, he's like a hunk of talking metal. And I definitely have learned a lesson on procrastination; it is not worth it. I'll send you a message (some way or other) once I get the new renders up. I think you'll like the use of the trash can especially. ;) Innovative technique-images on the way!

Quoting Oliver Becker Hello VAkkron, the atmosphere in your MOC is suspense-packed, the characters (I don't know) are scetched in a great way! My late comment is neither a lack of interest nor a sign of unkindlyness: I stopped commenting here after the end of the contest, because one of my votings doesn't appear over 2-3 days!? Thought, no comments will go now... Good luck in anyway in the contest!
I'm glad you like this, Oliver! Don't worry about your comment's timing; my build itself was quite late, and it's always nice to see a fresh word on an older page. Thanks, mate!

Quoting Stuart Lucas Love the game, love that scene, love this build. Great job and good luck in the contest!
Me too, me too, and THANK YOU!!! I'm very pleased with both the build and the score. Not the renders, though; check for a face lift in a couple of days.

Quoting Aaron Gomez (Finn Tegotash) I must say, I like the face too. Interesting shaping techniques there! And great mystery parts use throughout.
Thank you, Aaron! I'm glad the face turned out to be a winner; I know I'll use it again. More pictures will be up soon showing the mystery parts usage in full.

I'm not familiar with these characters, or Portal in general, but they look great and are really nicely posed. I hope you manage to get a few more pictures up, even thought the contest deadline has closed.

Quoting Stephan Niehoff Very good figures. Although I must admit that I do not know them. But this turret is fantastic, interesting parts use my friend.
Thank you, Stephan! I'm glad you like the turret; I made it in about 45 minutes yesterday, though I had a good idea how I would build it. I'm glad you liked the parts usage, too. I appreciate it!

Quoting Josiah Nelson Whoa, this is really good VAkkron! I myself have never played Portal before (yeah, :P), but I can tell that you have captured Chell perfectly in this brick built version of her. Also, that turret is insanely awesome! Keep up the great work, you are continually improving! : )
Thank you for stopping by, Josiah! I'm glad you like the models. Chell was a pain to fit within 150 pieces, but I'm glad it turned out well. Now for my promotional spiel: Portal is a fantastic game and I HIGHLY recommend it, though I know the gameplay and puzzle-based format isn't to everyone's liking. But you should check it out! Just make sure to start with the original. ;)

Quoting Topsy Creatori I am not familiar with these 2 Portal characters as I am with GLaDOS and Atlas, so I had to Google their images. Chell certainly always seems to be shown in some kind of tuff gal pose, which you have recreated most accurately! Cool orange pants too! :)
Thanks, Topsi! I decided to go for the lesser-known turret character because I have never seen it built from LEGO before. Chell is hard to see too unless you line up your portals right in the game. I'm glad you like it! (Hooray for orange pants!)

Thank you very much, Matt! I haven't recognized many of the subjects entered in this contest either. I'm glad you like the pose, though. I will be working on more renders soon, plus a reference picture from in-game. Thanks for stopping by!

Huge thanks to you, Keith. I owe Matt one; that door is pretty heavy to hold open like he did. I'm glad you recognize the pair, too. Wait, you LIKE the face? Cool! I wasn't so sure myself, because the parts usage in her head is crazy.

An addendum: I used 5 of the mystery pieces in my build. 1)Minifig, Epaulette around defective turret's eye. 2)Vehicle, Mudguard 4 x 2 1/2 x 1 2/3 with Arch Round used four times in defective turret's body. 3)Container, Trash Can with 2 Cover Holders as main chamber of portal gun. 4)Ice Cream Scoops as Chell's ponytail. 5)Bracket 3 x 2 - 2 x 2 (Space Seat) as body frame inside defective turret. As well, here is a link to my Flickr page with better images: https://www.flickr.com/photos/128657326@N02/ Thank you for viewing.
