When I was building my first Classic Space Mech after I re-surfaced from my dark ages, it was amazing to see the insane variety of parts that were available and the creative techniques used to connect them. I had so much fun building that mech that I had to down-size it to 100 parts and enter it into the classic space pocket money challenge.

After the contest I couldn't wait build another mech and see if it could get a little more intricate this time. I am extremely inspired by Peter Reid's work, as you can tell from my alternate builds of his amazing Ideas Exo-Suit set; The AT-EU . and the Recon Surface Rover. So I took a page from his book and built a tan classic space backdrop for my new C-SAW. Thanks Peter for the idea!

SO here it is, my new pride and joy, the Classic Space Articulated Walker a.k.a. C-SAW. Please rate and leave comments, i would love to hear some feedback. Enjoy!

Quoting Marley Mac Awesome walker. It looks like it would be right at home with the Exo-suit set. :D Also would you like to compete in a custom classic space minifig contest that I am hosting?
Thanks for the kind words Marley Mac, it looks good standing next to an exosuit that's for sure. I will have to come check that contest out! Cheers

Quoting Marc dZ Your beautiful pics serve a great build. Nice use and mix of blue and LBGray. You inspired well of Peter Reid's work. But your mech is unique. Nice work on the landscape, too.
Thanks Marc! I know how much a good photo and presentation can help a MOC, so it's important to me to put some good effort into a perfect photo, I got the gear so I might as well use it!

Quoting Pico van Grootveld Congratz to you as well on the blogging Damon! You've done a great job in a short timespan here and this is a confirmation of it! Indeed to many more :)
Gracias pico, this means a lot coming from you. It's quite an honor to have been blogged this soon after re-surfacing from my dark ages. I never would have imagined when my sister brought my 1980's bag of LEGO to me from the other side of the country a couple year back, that this is where they would eventually lead me to. I was just happy following directions up until last autumn when i discovered my local LUG group, LUGOLA. That first meeting was a game changer, and then finally posting on MOCpages and finding the amazing support from this community has made LEGO mean a whole lot more to me :-)

Quoting David Roberts Superb! I love how this is blue and grey, rather than just plain grey and also has a hint of trans yellow. My favourite feature is the old, grey engine pods on its back and the opening canopy. Great proportions too. I hope you get another like and crack the 50+ :)
One must always work with classic blue and grey, otherwise it just isn't true CS! Hehe. The words of a true addict :-D I'm glad you appreciate the old engine pods, I love those parts, there are some other golden oldies hidden inside this MOC. I woke up to a treat, and it looks like I cracked 50 likes, YAY!

Thanks for the comment Tom! The Legs were stage one in the building process, they went through the most visual and technical changes. If I had the right parts I would do some more changes in the legs particularly.

Quoting Ben Veazey Wow! The amount of detail put into this is astounding! Great work!
Yeah the little details and greebles were tricky. After my initial build I wound up taking off about 50 parts that just cluttered the walker unit. Then I had to do so many color and part swaps to keep the joints connected yet follow a visually pleasing color scheme, tricky stuff.

Quoting Nils O. A very cool NCS walker, I like it even more than the Ideas set. Great job! :-))
Wow nils! Such praise! Peter Reid's design of the Exo-suit and all his other works are such an inspiration to all NCS builders, I must thank him for helping spur the creative NCS mind in me as well. I've always had a soft spot for the classic space sets, I have nearly every ship from that era, and when the Lego movie came out and promised us an 80's something space man and space ship, I nearly lost my mind! This is my way of keeping the spirit of 80's space alive!

Quoting Daz Hyland Awesome classic space mech. I really like the 1960s looking sci-fi jet back and the parts usage to build the canopy :)
Thanks Daz, I really wanted to incorporate as many 'older' parts In this model. If you look closely at the green and red signal lights, they are attached to the old school three way horns with one stud, such a cool part. Also those old rocket boosters were a treat to use. The canopy was super tricky for me to finish. I tried so many variants to get the parts to all fit geometrically and not be forced into any position. Once I had that squared away I had to do a lot of color swapping to get the paint job right.

Thanks Didier, I am regretting destroying my original CS Mech, but the parts needed to be re-commissioned, i would like to re-build my 'scorpion speeder (http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/403350) to accompany this walker unit, i think the two would look good in a scene.

Quoting Stephan Niehoff Excellent work my friend. The legs are very interesting, the yellow-black-yellow sign is implemented discreet but perfect. Even the background in tan is very very nice. Top notch
Cheers Stephan, thanks for coming to check this walker out! Placing the Yellow-black-yellow bits was real fun, getting it to flow through on both sides of each legs was neat to implement. I wish i could have made a more elaborate tan backdrop, but i was limited on parts, i used my Simpsons house to make that (an alternate build, hahaha).
