M.A.K.O. "BRIMSTONE" Prototype, Mk. I
Welcome back, esteemed Researchers, on behalf of the S.A.I.! For those determined to continue delving into the mysteries of this ancient advanced civilization (even in the face of an apparently ever-more-quickly unraveling Universe), WE SALUTE YOU! Though unconfirmed, this appears to be a transmission intercepted from the newly-repurposed Imperial Research Institute (once known as the 'S.A.1.N,T' research station). What follows is another harrowing revelation about the covert research program dubbed 'M.A.K.O'...
About this creation

*unidentified narrator, soft background interference audible* ...I don't know if you can hear this, anymore. But I had to try. I'm transmitting anyway. If you're receiving, then you're one of the few left. When it all started *soft white noise crackle* Oh, God... we had no idea what was coming. None. I can tell you, if I'd have known something this biblical was coming, I'd have called my Dad. Told him I loved him, one last time. *squark* -But, none of that matters, anymore, I think. Maybe, though, if you can hear this, you can forward it out. Tell as many as you can. SAVE as many as you can. ...I've no idea where you can run. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

I'm not sure there's anywhere left to go.
I think this is the End.

Anyway, I just felt like trying to warn someone, anyone.

If you've seen all the other files, then you know how this began.

Empire found lost Somniferria. Thought they had an untouched treasure trove of alien tech on their hands. Stole it from the scientists who'd made the discovery, and were trying to share it for the good of all Mankind...
I'm sure you know how it goes... what happened next.

We screwed it up. Tried to USE it. HARNESS it. God, we were such fools. We were so STUPID and ARROG*crackle, hiss* Anyway, ...this is the thirteenth of the sequence files we intercepted, I think. It's got the Taint, on it of course. Cleaned it up, best I could. Filters will only go so far, though. From what I can tell, it's from The Institute... same source as the GRENDEL transmission.
Looks like yet another fool attempt of the M.A.K.O. program.
Fusing Somniferrian tech with human hosts.
-Can't verify authenticity, just want to say that. But, if the number of systems gone dark is any indication, well, ...I for one think it's real. And if it is, then...
then it's already too late. *sound of miserable sniffing, off-mic*
Anyway, Oz - Initiate Audio File 10198. And may God have mercy on us all.*white noise crackling, distortions from digital artifaction oscillate for several moments before stabilizing*

"Well, howdy." *squark*
"Name's 'Eugene'.

(As far as you Losers'll ever know, at least...) Heh heh.

"So, um, yea.
I'm supposed to say 'bout why I'm recording all this, 'n stuff.
Know what? I don't got one.
But they said I hadda, or they'd cut off my Chem supply.
And man, I need my Caffeine, y'know? Heh. So, yea."
"Anyways, um, yea, so where was I? Oh yea - Eugene. Right. So I'm from Tertius, and since you prolly ain't never heard of it, lemme tell ya', good reason. Place sucks. Backwater Rim planet, Sulfur Mining Colony, far side of Quad 9. And when people say it STINKS, then y'better bee-leeeeive that one, man. Get it? ...Sulfur Mines?... it stinks?... Hyuk hyuk
*snort* Love that one. Never gets old.
"Anyway, so. Tertius. TERD-ius, is more like it. *snort* hyuk. A joke town on a joke planet, and ol' Eugene still managed to be right at the BOTTOM of the list of even THOSE Losers. Man, I hated that school.
Flunked outta everything, on purpose. Couldn't be bothered.
'Sides, I wouldn't want anyone to every know I was EVER from Tertius in the first place. Let alone having a Diploma from Bogyella (yeah, that's really what that dump was called) Primary School. Who even cares?

I couldn't leave that place FAST enough.

But ya gotta have
Credit to get Offworld, right?

So, ole Eugene surprises alla them snotty teachers when the Imperial Recruiter came by that day, and I
ACED that entrance Exam. HA! Guy said I had "exactly the kinda Profile they needed", whatever that means. All I know is, those Military Stiffs were all smiles for ole Eugene's test results. They couldn't sign me fast enough.
I'd have strapped into that transport shuttle before the INK DRIED on that fancy... um,
SIKE-ALOGIKAL PROFILE, or whatever. Yea. Put Tertius in ole Eugene's rear view mirror, right where it belongs...

So I signed up for their sooper-secret Program-thingy, 'left the very next day. Never said 'Bye, never told my loser parents, nothin. Just showed up with the clothes I was wearing at 7o'clock the next mornin', and thought I'd seen the LAST of that hole.

(I was wrong, o' course, but we'll get BACK to that, Heh. Heh-heh.)

So the Re-crooter dude told me they had a special job for me, to, um
"make use of my unique talents" or some such. He went on an on with a bunch of Science-ey stuff for ages,
but all I heard was...
"POWER", "INVULERNABLE" and "UNLIMITED ORDNANCE". (Ok, so I didn't know what that last one meant, but man - did it EVER put a smile on my face when they 'splained it. OH, yeah. 'Case you ain't as smart as ole Eugene, it means WEAPONS. Like the Secret kind. All hush-hush, y'see? Oh, YEA...
*hiss of indrawn breath* NOW they're speakin' Eugene's LANGUAGE, hyuk-hyuk.
Inside a week, I was on a troop transport to some even MORE hush-hush Research Station, all the way past the outer Rim. Man, there aint' NOTHIN out there, least nothing I could see outta the porthole. Stuckup meathead next to me wouldn't answer any o' my questions, the loser, but I think I mighta caught a glimpse o somethin' - out there, where they said nobody'd ever gone. Can't be sure, and those jarheads were in a big hurry, so I never really got a chance to look again.

Off to the Lab Deck,, to Eugene's new home, man.

Now, to look at me, bet you'd never think there was anything special about ole Eugene at all.

Those losers totally bought it
when I told 'em I was 16, 'minimum Enlistment Age regulations say' blah blah blah. Way I see it, me bein' 12 was none o' their business, anyways - Re-Crooter Man aughtta have checked Bogyella's records, if he din't like it - his bad, not mine. I could say I look older than I am (but I don't); them slick government fellas prolly knew what was what, but to their credit, they never said nuthin'. So neither did I, Ha!

Weighed about a buck-ten, soakin' wet. Zits. Busted welfare glasses on my face, back then. Bad teeth, ugly, greasy, and dressed like the lost-and-found box, back at Bogyella Primary. Even I can admit I don' look like much. Buy hey, musta been somethin' special, right? Look where I ended up, ha!

So let's get to it- you don' need Eugene's whole Life Story, anyway, right? You wanna know how I got to be... all THIS, right? That's cool. Down to bizness, eh? You dig ole Eugene, and wanna know more about his RIG, amIright? Heh-heh. Heh. So, let's get down to it, yea?
Mm.You like it. Yea. Eugene gets it. You like Eugene the Machine, now, don't ya'? Heh.

Well, I like to give my audience what it wants; more of
ME. Heh. Yea. Heh-heh.

See,them squiddies had got their hands on SOMEthin' from back when the station had been some kinda research outfit - something bigtime. Said plenty of Science-ey crap, but to tell you the truth I tuned 'em out after the first 5 minutes: all I cared was, they give me what they PROMISED. And I gotta say, them Eggheads delivered, son! Yea.
"Now, I'm gonna be the first to admit it: Eugene won't be winning any Sooper Dooper Smart Awards (but that don't matter, 'cause clearly I aced the only Test in my life that's EVER gonna matter, right?). But whatever 'IT' is in this Life, I got 'IT' where it counts, yeah? And what those geeks did was, see, they plugged me into this mean, awesome SUIT they'd cooked up. And I mean plugged it in EVERYwhere, knowwhatI'msayin'? Hyuk.

Day one, I just climbed in, and said goodbye to the Outside World. By the time I found out I could never get out again ...you know what? - I wasn't even MAD.

(I mean, I was plenty MAD, - but turns out, that's why they liked me in the first place.)

After all, what'd I have to go BACK to, anyhow? Scrawny ole Eugene? Naw. 'Don't miss him.

Naw. See, I'm
"
BRIMSTONE" now.

Like it? Heh. Yea - picked it myself, after I'd got a chance to play with a few of my new TOYS, see? And let's face it -
that's a WAY cooler name than 'EUGENE', anyways. Noone's gonna run screamin' when somebody hollers "Run! It's ...EUGENE!" Heh. Heh.
The skin's coated with something they found off this giant white robot-thingy they said had crashed on some planet named... Somni... Somney-somethin'. Anyways. It'd crashed there after some fight (some other giant cyberlizard thing, apperently), and they took some little fragment from the crater. Whipped up a batch after studying it, slapped it onto ole Brimstone's hide.

'Said they needed to: some crap about "the rig would burn itself up just from the powers it makes use of" blah-di-blah. Don't care. Said it used to be white, but testing scorched it up. I don' mind. I like the BLACK. Looks cool, an everybody knows that's what counts anyway.

So far, the stuff's Impregna-something... impregg... bah - NOTHING can break it. Sweet, right?
"15 mean and nasty feet of me. Heh. Weigh in at, like, 30 tons, now. Some kinda experimental hybrid frame-whozit thing.
How strong am I? Well, this one night, they sent me out on this Op; assignment was to clear out some dug-in Rebels they said was holed up in this underground bunker.

Turns out, the Bunker was just outside of Bogyella. They said the Rebels had taken all the town hostage and made demands.

Also turns out that there was no Rebels. Somebody tipped em off we was comin', and the town had gone to ground in the town's fallout bunker. Supposed to be METEOR-PROOF.

Man, I dug that sucker out in 2 minutes. Whole thing. With nuthin' but these hands.

You shoulda heard the screams, when I CRUSHED it. Same way.

Man",
*deep breath* "...it was like MUSIC. I think I even RECOGNIZED a few o' those voices. Heh. They won't bother ole' Eugene, no more.

(I think I creeped out the Station Shrinks when they found out I knew they'd lied, but I never did nuthin'. See, I enjoyed it. Got off on it, even. But I'll never let on to those pukes. I like 'em on edge, around me. Heh.)
So, check out the knuckle blasters. Man, I love 'em. Uses some Science-y stuff, blah blah; bottom line - it scorches the enemy to SLAG, man. Ha!
Got these amazin' shoulder cannons, too. With just my rig, I can target up to four bogeys without lookin' at any of 'em, jus' by thinkin' 'bout it. Then blast em all to hell and back. Man, you wouldn't beleive how sweet the surprise is, just before they got no face left to show it - sometimes I need a few minutes after, just to stop laffin'. Heh-heh.
They tuck back outta the way when I don' need 'em. Pretty slick. Wanna hear somethin' silly? I totally go nuts for the NOISE they make! It's like this zzzzZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRK!!!!!!!! noise, builds up, and then -BOOOM-, dude. SO awesome. After the echoes die, all you can hear is the fire, and screams and metal trying to cool off and stuff. Man - good times, good times...
Now, don't wanna give you the wrong idea - all that stuff is EPIC, dude. Friggin' EP-IC. But none of that holds a CANDLE to the BEST POSSIBLE part of being BRIMSTONE, now: it was the shiny, bee-friggin'-YOO-tiful present those squiddies Science'd up for me, just before that um, accident.

- This here, folks, is my best friggin' friend:...
Ladies and Gents, meet 'HELLMAW'.

'Last thing my enemies ever see. Ultimate problem solver, see?

Enemy threat? 'HELLMAW'. Trouble with aliens? 'HELLMAW'. Tired of Haters? ...Boss? ...Parents? ...Naysayers and stuckupgirlsthatwon'tgiveyouthetimeo'dayandadultsthatsayyou'llNEVERAMOUNTTONUTHIN'!?!... ...'HELL--well... you get the picture. Sorry, got a lil bit carried away there. I do that.

Even I don't know if anything'll stop it. Nuthin' I've pointed it at has, yet. He ain't fast. Ain't even all that accurate.

He don't hafta be.

I get you in range, I wash you in the light o' Hell. I paint you with the fire from the heart o' stars. I drown you in a blast the likes o' which ain't been heard since The Beginnin'.
That's where I come up with the name, see?: I drag you to the mouth of HELL,
...and then I push you
through.

Uptop, s'got rotating plasma sixbarrell rails. I know it's stupid, but I just LOVE the sound it makes! -whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!- Heh-heh. LOVE to hear them chambers talk. Saw right through a Battlecruiser. Crew'll spray into deep space, gasping while their guts freeze, before they even know they're in trouble. Hehe.

Underneath, see the Fission launcher? - nothing beats launching a screaming round into the cockpit, and the split-second the Pilot gets to realize it's just... OVER, man. Ah, the looks on their faces. Duuude. You just gotta see it! Hoo-eee!!! What can I say? - I'm a dude that loves his Work!!!
They can run, resist, beg for mercy... but know what? - I just remember back to all those days at school, when they try.

Where was Mercy, when I bled all night, when I tried to hide, when I begged and pleaded for the bullies to stop, huh? Where was forgiveness? See, I don't think that garbage exists. I sure don't believe in it.

See, I believe in my Rage.

It's always been in me, taking care of me, making me special, getting me the recognition I deserve, see? If Mercy exists, well, there ain't no room in there for it, anyways. Rage is all I need. It fills up the emptiness in me just fine.

Some idiots wanna be Heroes. Wanna save the 'Verse, or somethin'.

Me, I'm content...

...to just sit back and watch it all BURN.

So I don't CARE.

Just so you pathetic stooges out there all know just where we stand, m'kay?
I. Don't. Care.
Not about your Worlds.
Or your concerns, lives, or losses.
I don't care about your CAUSES.

Know what else?: - I DO THIS FOR FREE.

Well, ...and for all the Stimulants I can mainline. Heh.
'Cause none of you hacks ever gave a toss about me. Know what? That suits me fine.

Don't need you.
All I need is my Rig, n'HELLMAW.
It's PART of me now.
It's gotten in, see? All this tech, it dug deep. 'Hurt, at first. But I love it, now. Heh. Feels goooood.

And sometimes, when I'm stuck rechargin' or somethin', and it's all quiet, I think I can hear it talkin' to me. Somethin' in the blood, all black and red... kinda whispers to me. Wouldn'a given ol Eugene the time o' day, but they can't get enough of the NEW me. Yea. They tell me how GREAT I am, how POWERFUL I am, now. BETTER. BETTER than Eugene. Better than all them Haters. Better than YOU.

You wanna trust in GOD? Yea? Okay, suit yerself.

Me, I trust in DUST. ASH. I trust the FIRE, and all it does for ME.
After I finish up, and it's all that's left, THAT never runs out on me. When you burn away, and your cinders are all flyin' round my armor, and pretty little flames are eatin' away all YOU EVER WERE, well... that's when I know TRUE HAPPINESS.

Everythin' BURNS, losers. I'm not one of you. Not anymore.

Now?...
...I'M THE FIRE.

BEGINNING 4th WALL COMMENTARY:
We made it to 4thWall! =D *Phew!* So much easier. Faster too. XD
As always, we'll kick off with some basic Metrics. He's a big one. Waaaay bigger than I meant to build. It all started with that torso...

4thW.C:As the comments below have already revealed, this was one of the HEAVIEST, and most completely-closed MOCs I'd ever built.
Conceptually, it was like this.
I knew the corrupt Government would continue to infuse Ancient Tech with humans, as with the GRENDEL prototype. Now, Rake? - He got Conned. Understandable. Promises, promises, right? M.A.K.O. brass dangled the carrot, and he went for it. Gullible.
Point it, though; he didn't WANT, or LIKE, what he'd become.

I wondered how different it would be, if the person was actually insane enough to WANT what it'd do to them...

4thW.C:(a few shots of Custom head above) Thus was Eugene born.
As we all know, Adolescence is about the worst period for any human to endure. The pits. Loaded with hormones, under pressure, all wound up, and nowhere to go. ~Ack!~
We all breathe a collective sigh of relief once we're out the other side. ;)
Eugene here had it worst than most. Amongst even a lower-caste Society, he was at the bottom. Weak, not much to look at, and above all - ANGRY about it.
After losing control of Rake, Corrupt Imperial officials found themselves in the market for a fresh Patsy to exploit. A nice new guinea pig for furthering the M.A.K.O. Program.

4thW.C:(Effaced shot of the Custom mask job, gloss enamel under layered Acrylic, simple spray Sealant) Enter, Eugene. Already a pretty broken human, Eugene likely saw through their sinister promises, at least subconsciously, but surprised them by EMBRACING the dark gift they'd offered, teeth and all.

4thW.C:(Mask, 3/4 left) The Empire's mistake was choosing someone who STARTED CRAZY. (Oops. Silly Government.) Eugene turned the tables by taking the Bait, then eating the whole arm that offered it.

I figure at this stage, he wasn't Tainted as far along as Rake. Not even able to power Brimstone indefinitely, perhaps because of the mix of Magmael and Malgothiel's blood swimming around there, perhaps warring for control.

I figure when one of the two wins, if Eugene hasn't been put down by then, he'll become MUCH worse.
Thankfully, he's slow. Juggernaut concept, due to the Ancient blood. No flight, though, and needs to recharge, between missions. So FOR NOW, the Empire still has a degree of control:
They've intentionally addicted Eugene to stimulants through his Nutrition feeds. And they control the immense Battery arrays needed to regenerate the suit's power, as well as being his sole means of Transport, from planet to planet.

How long the reins of mobility, drugs, and power will hold Eugene - who can say?...

4thW.C:(3/4 effaced, right) So Eugene has to play ball, for now. Biding his time until he becomes... more like Rake. Then, I think the Empire will realize too late they have just as little control over Brimstone as they did over GRENDEL. Ouch.

You'd think they'd stop playing with Alien blood...

Maybe the surviving Human Race has grown so desperate to stave off the approach of The End, they'll risk ANYTHING to gain a Weapon against the returning Ancients? ;)

It's my fiction, and even I haven't decided. =D
4thW.C:(Shoulder Cannon Array deployed, training on two separate targets) See that pebbled, slightly bumpy texture to the black areas? - It's constarch. Worked ok, but can be a hassle to spread evenly, before painting. Wanted a textured surface for the upper torso armor that resembled volcanic rock; or obdisian. So: cornstarch. Common baby powder would do the same. I was pleased how well it worked for that melted, flawed glass look.
4thW.C:(Cannon array, single targeting, 3/4 Right) I wanted a brutish, Gorilla-type proportion to him, but shaping it added so much weight the first legs wouldn't hold it. Knees blew out. Complete re-design necessary. Had to downsize Cannons too, to rebalance weight issues.
4thW.C:(Full shoulder and head assembly, left profile) I'm a big believer in floating pauldron (shoulder armor) to preserve articulation. Love how these added to the look, without being spiky. Brimstone's about muscle and guns, not blades and claws.
4thW.C:(Lower dorsal carapace and Cannon array, stowed in lower lumbar 'alcoves') I wanted to carry over the theme of shoulder cannons from many Ancient bloodlines, like Malgothiel and especially Dominael.
4thW.C:(Overhead dorsal assembly, right profile) The design also has a blend of turtle or crustacean taxonomy. Simple starched enamel blacking, over that pair of Ben10 torsos.
4thW.C:(A look at those Knuckle Blasters, effaced) Part of Brim's onboard weaponry, the almost-concealed knuckle barrels. Most of his power is derived from thermal radiation manipulation, like Magmael, and to a lesser degree, the EmberHawkes (also part of the Magmael bloodline).
4thW.C:(Tridactyl articulated fingers) Had to go with thicker, shorted fingers to handle the weight of holding Hellmaw. These do a pretty good job. That gun weighs a TON. =)
4thW.C:(Inner arm assembly) Those simian-style arms are also quite heavy; it was a bit of a trick to construct a joint stiff enough not to slip in posing. Little Sharpie on the balljoint fixes that (A little trick I learned from BioRockDude, Cheers~ If you're reading this, mate XD)
4thW.C:(Full Inner Leg Assembly, right) That trick came in handy for: elbows, hips, shoulders and heel balljoints. Thx again, BRD: Cred to YOU, for the tech, there.
4thW.C:(Lower Leg, Rear Assembly, effaced) Wanted to preserve strong muscular curves for Bull-like, digitigrade leg structure. That pair of trans Hero Factory element on the back of the calves is held in place by clear elastics. Don't like using them, but I like clear, and at least they're the same Gauge as Lego brand.
4thW.C:(Both lower legs, rear akimbo) Here, you can see those elastics a little more clearly. Still gives a reasonable level of invisibility. Again, folks or fans, I'm not personally a Purist, if the Custom Painting hasn't given it away yet ;D. I use what I think EACH MOC needs, individually. For all of you, I say each to their own, and my Blessings upon it. =D
4thW.C:(Topdown View, Dorsal Assembly) I loved the idea of armor that SEEPED MAGMA from any cracks, so; my Customization followed those lines - layered yellows, oranges and reds.

The idea was to see MAGMA emulsion DRIP onto the plating, from the head, from the pectoral venting, etc. Think it worked out pretty well.

4thW.C:(Torso plating, 3/4 Effaced) Like most Somniferrian Fauna, crystalline anatomy reservoirs hold stored radiation, for later use. Remember, Ancient Blood is... well, ALIVE. So any creation fused with it will eventually take on Organic properties. See? - It's already spreading across sections of the Brimstone mech.
4thW.C:(Back Assembly detail, effaced) As in Comments below - I picked a Palette that was every color I could imagine a live COAL could be: silver-grey, charcoal, red, orange, yellow, and black. (If you'll look closely at the sides of the 'floating rib' area, you will see I ran out of black axle/barrel pins, and had to use 2 BLUE ones, in my impatience to get on with it.) =(
4thW.C:(Upper Dorsal Carapace Detail, rear effaced) You can see the single shell-like dorsimus I formed out of those Ben10 armors (gloss enameled) with a little trans orange 'window' in the center. Originally, this was a little extra Cannon, but weight made me stop. I settled for a little 'window', perhaps through which could be seen the mangled body of Eugene, pierced by the machinery and swelling with Magmael's Blood, within.

At roughly 15 feet in height, I figure what's left of Eugene would be squeezed into the Torso comparment (even if it meant breaking most of his bones to FIT. (what would he need arms and legs for, anymore, anyway?)) - Ew, right? ;)

4thW.C:(Hellmaw, Left Profile Effaced) Ah, Hellmaw - what a ridiculous gun I have crafted in thee. ;) I basically thought, 'alright, now - if Cloud has that GIANT SWORD in Final Fantasy, and I was determined to make a gimmick GUN that size instead, what would it look like?'... well, here you go. =P That is almost every black gunbarrel piece I ever owned, heehee. It's preposterous of course, but that is the point. A gun so big noone could USE it. Unless you had, say, some alien blood running around your veins, eh?
4thW.C:(Shoulder Detail, 3/4) Well, YURI FASSIO, this part is YOUR fault, Sir.
I FINALLY got a blacklight on E-bay and messed around with it, a little. This shot, and some previous with the blue-ish underlighting?: bingo. I love what it does to trans parts. Mine's battery operated, and not very strong - not sure what Yuri uses. But I was determined to have a little fun with one, and so far - it works. ;)

4thW.C:(Upper Torso, 3/4 effaced) A few last shots of our brute, here, before returning to Story. As always, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR LOOKING!!! I do have 2 more W.I.P.s underway, but ran into so much trouble in construction, I cranked out this thing, just to stay active. We will see how the rest of the year plays out. Thanks again, gang! =D

4thW.C:(Title, 3/4 Akimbo) There are a number of sections above that should/will have hyperlinks, for easy Story browsing, and I will keep them working, but I can barely keep my eyes open. Running on fumes, bear with me while I get that code included.
4thW.C:(3/4 Profile Full Left) I am mostly pleased with the build, overall. Again, it grossly outgrew my original size and weight goals, but sometimes, going BIG is the only way to solve some construction problems. Closure? There, some of my best work, to date. But with a lesson learned: Good Closure means even MORE Weight. By near a pound (for my American fans), heaviest thing I've ever built, save O.G.R.E.

4thW.C:(3/4 Shoulder/Head detail, Blacklight) I know it can't be seen in most of these shots, but to make Yuri proud, I even added some slight WAIST ARTICULATION (swivel only). I know that doesn't sound like much, but at this scale, it was a wildly ambitious feat, indeed. Adds to somewhat more realistic Striding poses.

4thW.C:(Blacklight 3/4 Head Detail Right) I also must spend a moment to the Fans who've poked fun at how much I love, and have USED, the Toxic Reapa mask. Let me just get right out in FRONT of THAT bullet. =D I love it, I will always love it, and you will likely see more of them, possibly Custom, like this one. A great Sculpt is a great Sculpt ( I wish I knew their name, so I could pay them Tribute, here).

So yes, I use the Reapa mask alot. And likely will, again.
Make your Peace with it. :) I have.

(For no particular reason, a casual question: Has anyone notice just how EASY to Customize one of those to look amazingly like
Marvel's VENOM?... Just a casual question. Of course. No special reason I mention it ;).....)
4thW.C:(Concept art shot: 'Mission Successful') Before we close, a word on Concept Scale:
Like GRENDEL, Brimstone is one of those MOCs (these two the first in many years) that I visualized as near-Humanoid scale. Rake would be about 6'3" in the GRENDEL rig. Eugene here would be right at 15'(mostly the Military Scientist's choice for visual intimidation on the Battlefront) after climbing into the BRIMSTONE rig for the first (and last) time. Not TITANS like the Ancients whose blood they bear, but incredibly powerful all the same. I wanted to play with that idea. I may do more experimental Imperial Government blackbook projects like them again, before I'm done. Haven't decided.

Wrapping up; by special request I include the traditional BEFORE and AFTER shot, to supply a concept of the difference between starting and ending shots - primarily for the encouragement of those who think they can't do the same sort of thing: so, a couple of revelations, for those who don't know -

1)My 'Studio'?: the counters, and every light turned on, in my Kitchen, at home. =)
Colored dropcloth (depending on MOC color for contrast), pinned to the cabinets above, draped over the edge. For macro shots, an un-shaded table lamp, I point where needed.

2) The glorious backgrounds?: I scour Google images, looking for material. Search images tab, using a word. Like, "fire" for example.

3) An OLD version of Photoshop, like PS4-6 for example, can go for as little as $40 on Ebay. I use CS6, but only because I like filter libraries. You don't have to have the latest, greatest, to do some amazing things. I empower you to challenge me on this with the shots BELOW, using ONLY PHOTOSHOP version 4 (oldest I own), and the patient use of LAYERSLAYERSLAYERS. Can't stress those enough. Find a cheap copy, make friends with it. You'll be glad you did. Birdie's Word on it.

Closing 4thW.C:('Concept Shot: 'RED GIANT', BEFORE:') (and to preserve narrative, only the Re-title to head the last picture, no more 4thWall:)Closing 4thW.C:('BELOW Concept Shot: 'RED GIANT', AFTER:')
...Oz, resume File playback. *zzzrmm*

"Yea, they used to laugh at ole Eugene, call him names.
Betcha they don't do that no more.

Betcha they don't do much 'o NOTHIN, no more. Heh.
You want a name to call me, now?...

...call me BRIMSTONE.

And if I show up at YOUR doorstep, it's already too late to call anyone else. Heh-heh...
TIME TO BURN...

As usual, you outdo yourself good sir! I'm continually inspired seeing your mocs, and your dedication to the story they tell. Now that I've finished a few titans myself, I've been wondering if you had any tips for the photo-process?

Imagine my surprise on returning to MOCpages and finding this bad boy! Absolutely amazing, loving the custom painted parts and the overall bulkier design as opposed to the slimmer GRENDEL. I'm actually pretty interested to know what paints you used to make the custom patterns and colors, because I'd quite like to do something similar with my newer stuff. Glad to see content from you, however late to the party I am.

Wow! I'm blown away yet again, Clever. Nice solid, brutish feel. Very different from your previous work. And that gun is epic. Love the customization-- you've pulled off that molten effect quite well. As always, I'm also super impressed with the quality of the story and writing. I look forward to seeing where the plot m goes next. Seeing this and looking through all your other MOCs again has brought me out of over a year of inactivity. Thanks for inspiring me to return to the hobby! Expect more MOCs inspired by your work in the future, hopefully of better quality this time around. ;) My first protect was revising Astrom, which I've finished up. I think it's a pretty big improvement with just a few minor changes. I'm actually in the middle taking photos of him right now. And I've got my next project in mind as well. Cheers!

Quoting Dark Aeon I'd probably try to use this part of my comment, but I am too blown away by the awe-inspiring appearance of this MOC to form a cohesive statement. Good job at that. Just a casual question, but with this incredible storyline that you have conceived, have you at all considered writing a book centered in this universe?
I have, but am preoccupied with another set of books ideas for the foreseeable future. Thanks for your Review!

Quoting THE SHADOWED ONE Wow another INCREDIBLE moc from the BEST biomocer I ever seen!!!! The color are spectacular!!!! Really love the head's look!!! Clever I wanna ask you if you can make a photoshop (change background) for me? The photo is done with the green pannell behind and under the moc! It forms a curve without angle junction between floor and wall. The Moc is a completely black bionicle inspired from your malgothiel! I try to do myself but I fail! Anyway this is the best moc you make ever!!!!! Thanks you!
Hm. I think so, but you'll need to provide a bit more. Reply sometime, and copy me on the link to the Photo in question. I can take a look, and see if it can be done. You'll also need to decide WHAT you want to replace the green portion with; detailed idea would help alot. Look forward to hearing back from you. {{{OTHER VIEWERS; A NOTICE}}} I am agreeing to do this for T.S.O., as I have occasionally done for other MOCists in the past, but cannot do often - if you have a request, Comment it, and I'll see if time allows. With his request, and any future ones, you must supply an external E-Mail address you'd be able to have finished Photos sent to - (I am unwilling to use MOCpages temporary image buffer to allow images to be copied, as I've done in the past - way too complex a set of hoops to jump through. E-Mail, and be done, or, no thank you and best wishes). Finally - CREDITING SHOWS RESPECT. I have sadly had to deal with failures to do so, and the attempted THEFT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. Please note that The Shadowed One has DONE NO SUCH THING to me; it is simply convenient to attach this warning to his incoming request. I digi-stamp ALL MY WORK, to prevent said instances from arising. Please don't make me take the necessary steps, should you feel the urge to plagiarize. It saddens me that this warning be necessary, but am now a little more hardened in my stance on this matter, due to recent events. {{{THANK YOU, for your consideration.}}} ~ The Bird

Man! This guy looks nuts! His hulking proportions really make him look powerful, and the custom parts make it look like maybe he's a little too powerful for his own good. Like all of your Mocs Brimstone is well built, and has a great concept behind him. Really strong design work went into this, and you ended up with marvelous results. I think my favorite part would either be his legs, or his upper torso. These areas really stand out and complete this moc. Wonderful silhouette and great color scheme. Not only did you manage to build something great, you built something terrifying. And hellmaw is so great it's like another moc all on its own. Good job!

Quoting Bob the inconceivably invincible As with all your MOCs, this things AMAZING! I really like how you mod pieces, even though I'm normally a purist. Here, it actually works quite well.
Appreciate that and can empathize, Bob - when I had only just started, felt much the same. One day, I thought, 'well - they're mine; and this is all for FUN, so, why don't I?' =) Baby steps, at first, then as I got comfortable with the concept - as often as purely necessary. --- I will always show Purists respect: from thus, my Origin, after all. But now, if the job calls for it, I just go with it. As little as possible, but the true reason is one few ever guess: (IT'S ALOT OF EXTRA WORK!!!) And I have less time than ever, these days. Thanks for your Review, Bob! =D

Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus I know that the classic Makuta was an amazing set, but Rakshi backs for leg detail never looked good. Also there are not enough clean pictures and possibly too many fancy pictures. Otherwise this is a pretty good MOC.
Hey, thanks for your opinion on him. I like those Rakshi backs, where I used them, though. I love the curves, and as the calf-shape was coming together, that pair was a perfect fit for the space; still happy with them. ~Cheers

Quoting Monarth the Contrarian Another impressive work my man. =] I love the paintwork on the chest and especially the head, which does a lot of justice to the sculpt. Makes me wanna buy some custom masks, although usually I have a very purist attitude, but the level of detail is changing my opinion. If I had to critisize anything though, the upper arms seem to kind of vanish in many pictures. It makes him look like having elbows directly attached to shoulders. What are those shoulder pads by the way with the embedded zamor spheres? All in all, lovely work and can't wait to see more. Cheers~
Thanks, M! I understand the crit on the arms. I wanted an exaggerated, brutish, even Gorilla-ish proportion; massive forearms that dangle heavily, and narrower elbows lent to that for me. Those pauldrons are torso pieces from the previous Chima sets, the deluxe figures, if I remember correctly. Just the thing I wanted to over-shoulder my big, hulking brute. Thanks for the Review, glad to see you also still about! =D

Quoting Toa Sam ~ Finally, you posted something! Other than the slightly to long legs in my opinion, he looks AMAZING!
I agree, here. Give you a 4thwall Preview: you'll see this there, later - I had SHORTER legs, originally; but the MOC weighs too much, and I had to DOUBLE UP on ratchets to resist, keep him free-standing (always a personal goal of mine for my MOCs), so he ended up more than an inch taller than I wanted. Thx for the Review! =P

You never have to apologize for honesty, Dan. And ironically; I really like those arms (with the possible exception of the K.K. armor on the near-elbows - needed that shape, but wasn't crazy about the steampunk-ish look that piece gives me.)
