Built for Brickworld Chicago 2015 for the "Brick Time Stories" collaborative, this vignette is built on an open book and based on Maurice Sendak's timeless picture book, Where the Wild Things Are.
About this creation

As a child, Where The Wild Things Are was one of my favorite stories. The character Max, shown throughout the book wearing his wolf suit, required some crazy uses of non-recessed headlight bricks to create a box with tiles and jumper-plates on every side.

One of Sendak's nameless Wild Things. The eyes use the 1970s Homemaker figure heads.

Due to college studies, I have been in sort of a dark age, but I hope to repost a few of my old builds soon. Enjoy!

Fantastic build Max. The characters are spectacular, well-nigh perfect, but I think the tree really ties everything together. Without it the build would lack context, and the source book has such lush dark foliage that including the tree is the keystone. Excellent work.

You did such a wonderful job recreating these classic characters into bricks! The shaping is just perfect, the way you did the "book" part is also really nice!

Wonderful shaping on both characters. I really like the usage of heads for the eyes on the blue guy. :) Great work Max!

Quoting David Roberts I love the Wild Thing and how you've done his hair, which must have been a painstaking process.
Actually, it wasn't so bad. To achieve the look I had to be intentional about whether I used a hand, arm, or clipped-bar in any given spot and the purposefulness kept it interesting.
