LL-17 Planetary Scout Vehicle
"Classic Space" themed scout ship.
About this creation
Thank you for the support, MOCPages! A real honor making it to that spot!

My new Classic Space-themed MOC. In my interpretation, it is C.S.A, using the CS acronym for "Classic Space." I rather thought it was cheeky and clever. My inspiration was a flying saucer type craft. I know CS is generally portrayed as being a little "unrefined and clunky" yet I felt a more futuristic look would fit my interpretation on the theme.

I might add that I detest using photoshop software. I waste more time on presentation than actual building! Shameful! I plan on following up with a few different MOCs from the old space themes. Enough talking, now for viewing!

Enjoy my take on Classic Space with Constellation Space Authority!

SWOOSH!

C.S.A. Captain Sam standing next to his landed LL-17.

C.S.A. Captain Sam Abrams. I've decided that all names and titles should be silly or a play on CS.

Quoting Magma ! The presentation is perfect and the vehicle is superb. I must say that adding grey bits on a classic space minifig is a great way to get that neo-classic space feel without being too different from the official fig.
Thank you for the comment! The minifig was a "should I update or not" thing. I decided to be minimal to honor the classic look but tie him in with the neo look. He's standing proudly on a pedestal on the shelf now. :-)

Quoting Sven J. Oh yes, this baby is a really nice one. Love the smooth design and the nice details. Really understand that this is your favorite ;)
Thank you Sven! It started out as all gray and boring, believe it or not, but the more I worked, the more I realized what I could do. :-)

Quoting Gerald F. Smoother than a baby's butt! Like for reals, I love the sleek, smooth look to this vessel! The bit of greebling that you've added to the bottom offers a neat contrast to the rest of the ship's sleeky look! A well thought out design! I like that the wings have that round shape and the round plates over and below. Top notch work! Keep On Brickin'!
Thank you Gerald! I appreciate the detailed feedback! This was one of those models that comes to you in a vision or something. It was a blast to work on! :-)

Quoting Oran Cruzen I stopped by and looked a little longer and had to comment again! Really nice pictures and setup of this post with the specifications type sheet and the way that you made this look like a sales brochure! NICE!
Thanks Oran! A little about this design: When it popped into my head, I just knew it would be a good final product. It changed the way I viewed my MOCs and the presentation.I have higher standards for not only building, but presentation as well. All because of this creation. Thank you for noticing the work and heart I put into this! :-)

As far as I know, there wasn't a set like this originally. This is an original, and yes it is a re-imagining of Classic Space! :-)

Quoting Jeremy McCreary Fabulous design, Jack! Overall shape and all the details form a very coherent whole. Don't know much about CS, but I know I want one of these. So when the wife wants to know why I placed yet another BrickLink order this week, I'm throwing you under the bus. Sorry.
OH it's all good. I throw myself under the bus monthly with my BL orders. ;-) There are so many great CS builders here, and they infected me, so really it's their fault! Blame David Roberts! :-D

Quoting Nick Barrett Classic space seems to look even better with curves, great build!
Thank you, Nick! I've always liked the angular look that CS has, with dishes and stuff protruding in seemingly random locations. That's why I wanted to try something a little different than that. It's all we know! :-)

Thank you for the comment! It's always fun to try and update a classic look. I had wished that the new space helmets came in blue, which would've looked interesting but alas, they don't. :-)

Quoting David Roberts Wow! What a super smooth ship! Not a stud to be seen and neatly flush joins between the sections. I like the way that the canopy hinges are neatly flush with the rest of the front deck. The ring of slope bricks, behind the canopy, is a great idea too. Good use of the CS colour scheme, with blocks of each colour and the dishes on the wings add to the overall interest. A super ship.
I appreciate the comments! I especially wanted you to check out the finished product, since you had so many useful comments when I began the project. Overall I'm pleased with the project, and I took many of your suggestions into account in the final product. Thanks again!
