Gunstars serve in multiple roles in the Colonial Fleet.
About this creation

In peace time, they operate independently or in "wolf packs" of 3-4 to patrol a given sector of space or a travel lane.

In war time, Gunstars provide a specialized role either in boarding actions or as escort and harassment ships.

Fast and maneuverable, Gunstars can accelerate more quickly than a massive Battlestar. They are equipped with gun and missile batteries to attack and defend against enemy warships and fighters.

They possess both sublight and FTL engines for interstellar travel.

Gunstars are all capable of planetary landings.

Text from Battlestar Prometheus.

Wow, I think my brain just went numb! About how long does it take you now to add a background to one of your MOCs?

Quoting Oran Cruzen Excellent! Well I finally tried something "spacey" but I was wondering how do you do the space background pictures?
I see that! Okay, I invited you to the Rocket Surgery group. Check out the Gimp Instructions Short Version thread.

Quoting Mark Kelso Nice one, Bart! I take it this is one of your own designs (I've not seen this before, anyway). Love the look - really fits it with the BSG aesthetic.
Kind of a combo of things I've seen online, Deviant Art especially. Thanks, Mark!

Quoting David Roberts I like the layers of ribs on these ships and the gun turret in the centre of each ribbed side. The pointed, faired front keeps that BSG look going too. Does a new ship mean a new twist in your epic story?
Thanks, Dude! It probably won't make the storyline, but it may make a public appearance next spring!

Quoting Kermunklin the Giant Evil House Head Cool. The SNOT sections somehow give them a sort of monolithic look. Have these been in your series or are they a completely new build?
Nope, not in the series. All new! And more to come, so stay tuned, Chief!

Quoting Parrington Levens Very tide micros mate. Man, you just wonder how cool a show it would make if the colonies aren't caught by surprise, and they had a good ole big space war. I guess that's what Blood and Chrosme was going to be about, shame...
I think the toasters would have been outmatched by the Colonial Fleet. Look at the punishment Galactica took and kept on fighting. Who knows, maybe the show will get picked up someday...

Quoting Clayton Marchetti Fantastic work El Barto! These remind me of the PT boats from WWII and just as deadly. I love those turrets in the middle. Great job on those beautiful backgrounds too. Outstanding!
I went with those big guns, even though they're a bit out of scale. Thanks, Dude!
