The ship is truly a stunning achievement, Jim, and your fiancée is truly a saint. Wish I could walk around it to get the full effect. Curious as to what kind of crane you used to move it outside?

Quoting Nerds forprez This is terrific. But a build this large deserves some specs. how many pieces? Weight? Time it took to build? All would be great information to add to this great project...
you can see the build on my page if you look through it shows it getting built etc, specs is hard as i rarely count pieces,24.7 ft long 34 inches wide nearly 5 ft high (top of mast) gun turrets 3.5kg each,3 years to build

thanks for all your nice comments,it does look really great now out in the open, this was my Fiancees idea as i wasnt too keen but so glad we did now, better once you see the USS Saratoga sitting alongside in a year or two, without everyone on here it would not have been built to this standard only by looking at your MOCs getting ideas how to build better,Henrik Jensen,Nate Flood,Nick Barrett,Michael K,Henrik Hoxbroe and Matt Bace to name a few,and Raymond Drum whose idea it was to build this

Quoting Noel Peterson Wow! That is really long! Will you be taking it to any conventions?
doubtful this needs to be displayed somewhere permanent,it takes a long time to move it take it apart build it back together again,

Quoting Stacey H Hmmm... That puppy is no doubt longer then my last vehicle, and no doubt more expensive then my last 2 cars!! Kudos to a GREAT JOB...but there is only one question...does it come in blue? Kidding... Have you every tried dazzle camo patterns? Amazing work, again kudos to you n the fiancé... If she tolerated the build..she's a keeper!!
never really tried camo building,it takes the shape of the build away as what camo is supposed to do plus its very hard as i build in sections then put it altogether,

Quoting Henrik Jensen Fully agree with Jimmie! Your new photo series is truly breathtaking. Putting the ships on a plate at ground level and in beautiful surroundings make a big difference. Now, you almost feel that it floats on water. And the little tugs are an excellent addition to the scenario. Your fiancé deserves great recognition for her support for your project. Once Again five stars!
thanks Henrik yes she deserves a lot of credit for putting up with lego everywhere, also going to the press about this, its been on most news websites across the world now,it was her idea to put this ship outside and it looks so good out in the open, first time you get to see it rather than the cramped surroundings where it was, also leaves space for the next one, thinking of tens of thousands trans blue round 1x1s now to represent the water around it,(Nates U Boat diorama)

Quoting Sam Sanister That is huge! Is it about minifig scale?
yes minifig scale although there seems to be a lot of diference anything from 1/35 tp 1/40 people call minifig scale, this was meant to be 1/38 but the time it was finished came out 1/36 due to the gun turrets but it looks right not stretched in any way to make it bigger than what it should be

So, you built the Missouri so large, that it couldn't fit in your house. This is seriously huge. The detailing of this historic vessel is off the charts. The hull shape was very well done, looks like it may have been a pain, but it paid off. The superstructure is chock full of goodies. I'll need to stare at this for quite a while to get the full scope. :-)

As a Lego fan and a fan of anything WWII related, I'm absolutely in awe. This is fantastic. The investment in time and money that must've been required is incredible. And the attention to detail is entirely over the top. I'd give it 100/100.

O_O Wow, how long did it take you to build this thing? Also, a friend of mine by the name of Daniel Siskind is building a 1/35 scale model of your vessel as well himself. You should really make more of a bottom and make it float, as well as add a functional interior and get some light bricks, as in Chris Giddens style, to make it REALLY stand out even more than conventional models. However, should you not do that, then it's still quite an impressive build. How many pieces did you use to build it anyway?
