"Udaloy" class destroyer 1:350
Large anti-submarine ship pr.1155 "Fregat" of the Soviet and Russian Navy. LDD-version.
About this creation

"Udaloy I" class are a series of anti-submarine destroyers built for the Soviet Navy, eight of which are currently in service with the Russian Navy. The Russian designation is Project 1155 "Fregat" (Frigate bird). Twelve ships were built between 1980 and 1991.The Project 1155 dates to the 1970s when it was concluded that it was too costly to build large-displacement, multi-role combatants. The concept of a specialized surface ship was developed by Soviet designers. Two different types of warships were laid down which were designed by the Severnoye Design Bureau: Project 956 destroyer and Project 1155 large anti-submarine ship. "Udaloy" class are generally considered the Soviet equivalent of the American "Spruance" class destroyers. There are variations in SAM and air search radar among units of the class. Based on "Krivak" class, the emphasis on anti-submarine warfare (ASW) left these ships with limited anti-surface and anti-air capabilities.

The destroyer "Admiral Panteleev", Pacific Fleet.

As destroyers "Spruans", the ships initially criticized for not very heavily armed for their displacement. However, they had excellent anti-submarine capabilities - was a case where a Norwegian submarine "Ula" (pr.210, the German construction, very low noise) was confidently detected at a distance of 50 km. Also, destroyers pr.1155 have a very good possibility of self-defense systems, and in the Russian fleet are the main escorts for larger ships of the fleet.

The model is built from real bricks.

My model is built in the scale of 1: 350, for the construction took 591 bricks.

Quoting Marc "Edge" R.unde Good job, these Russian vessels really have something special about them. Massive, but still sleek!
Thanks, Marc! Yes, the Soviet military shipbuilding characterized by enhanced structural protection and an aggressive appearance, largely because of the large number of weapons on board.

Excellent work on this larger-scale Udaloy! I'd second what Henrik said -- I'd love to see ship in even a slightly larger scale. I have found that 1:200 is a great compromise between overall size and detail level, but I have done some smaller ships at 1:125, or even 1:65. It does take some patience, plus a little "creativity" to handle a 100+ stud model in LDD, but the results seem to be worth it.

Thanks, Matt! I think .... But as long as there is a desire to implement a number of ships in the 1: 700 and 1: 350))

Quoting Henrik Jensen Brilliant miniature Vessel! Amazing to see how much more details can be made doubling the size. The superstructure is really well made. Why not take it a step further and make a 1:100 scale model, that would give you an oportunity to improve the the hull, particular on the bow.
Thank you, Henrik! 1: 100? I look at Matt Bace's models in scale 1: 200, and I understand that I probably do not have the patience))) It's better to just do a minifig scale))) In addition, there is a special charm in the simulation of a small size.

Quoting Locutus 666 Excellent build. I like the neat construction with the wedges of the superstructure.
Thank Lokutus! I'm looking for a way to make a little less massive superstructure, but it all depends on the size of the inclined missile launchers. And they are big.
