So initially, I was just trying to build a small podracer, much like Anakin's; maybe a bit bigger. Then I decided is would be hilarious if the pilot was a Frog. Well, one of my friends over on Flickr is a frog, so I guess this makes it Dead Frog Inc's Pod... I hope he likes dark purple... and legal connections... and old gray... :/
Anyway, on with the MOC!
The main proponent of this is that front section on each pod, and the use of all those dark purple pieces I got with the Wiztastics Mixels. I liked the airplane engine interior piece but didn't want to use it with the tube it fits in, and I thought the 1x2x2/3 curved slopes looked nice.
It takes some inspiration from Mawhonic's GPE-3130 with a large central pod and a small side one.
Like with The Black Mamba, I tried to do a bit of color blocking on this than just random parts of the colors I wanted. It's not the best, but this is the first Frogracer I've made, the others (There will be more. I bought pieces and frogs to make more.) will hopefully fare better.
The cockpit is a bit over-sized in my opinion, but I think that with this idea of frogracing, it is slightly different from podracing.
Also, it's hard to get the frog to fit in a such a small space. He's not even attached by stud connection. It's all friction between the backs of headlight bricks.
Also, to use the pieces, there are even some engines on the cockpit. He's out to win, so anywhere there is a place to attach and engine and increase speed, it's going to be done.
I also decided to make the string as much like the cables on podracers with a much more logical connection on both the pod and the cockpit; It is more noticeable on the pods. If you've ever looked at the 1999 and 2001 podracers, and also my own podracers based off of them, the cables actually would never be attached where they are. They a usually attached at a center point parallel with the pod on the top. Also, you never see strings used for smaller podracers, it's really weird. It's not that hard to do either, this MOC is proof. Why has LEGO never done it?
There is a review on YouTube, so if you would like to see that, here it is:
Thanks for checking out the Frog-Pod. I have another built, two more with actual pieces put together but not finished, and one conceptual. I kind of want to make Frogracing a thing. Thanks for viewing and don't forget to rate and comment!
