Kunar V2
Haven't posted anything in a while, but hopefully I've produced something that's worth the wait! Yet another revamp, this time of a particular favourite character of mine: My old RPG avatar, Toa Kunar!
About this creation
“Everyone hates him. He’ll align with a cause for the sole reason of hurting its opposition… or maybe he just does it for fun. If he isn’t crazy, then he must be bitter. I mean, really bitter.”
-Krode, The Contenders #6

Kunar:
Kunar is a rogue Toa of Air and an enemy of the Contenders. He is notorious for being untrustworthy and deceitful, though he will typically form temporary alliances with other villains, based on what suits him most at the point in time. While physically weak and easy to subdue in combat, Kunar’s quick-witted ability to manipulate people and sadistic habit of baffling people with his nihilistic philosophy makes him a foe not to be taken lightly. Those who ally with him usually fall to ruin; the most notable example is when he severely divided the Toa of Racta Minus by ‘advising’ their leader, Anut, into turning against his partner Tyranca.

Kunar was originally a member of the Council of Toa, a secret organisation based on an island on Spherus Magna. However, he eventually abandoned this group after being horribly disfigured in a fire; this event was extremely traumatic for Kunar, and was supposedly the turning point in his transition to villainy. He joined the ranks of the Sentries of Revenge, a group of rogue Toa and the Council’s sworn enemy. Kunar tortured many Matoran during this period, one of which was a Matoran named Krode, who would eventually become a Toa. Eventually however, Kunar ended up betraying this outfit too, as he helped a race of robotic aliens stage an attack on Spherus Magna. The Sentries, typically renowned as villains, rose up as unlikely heroes that day and foiled the invasion. Krode was also present for the battle, where he fought and defeated Kunar. The rogue Toa spent a year in the sentries’ custody, until one day he mysteriously vanished from his cell.

He spent many years wandering through space, finally arriving on Racta Magna. He met another rogue Toa named Dukrina, along with her two Rahkshi, Apothrahk and Thisrahk; Kunar, in his typical fashion, allied with them. Under her command, he infiltrated the city of Racta Major under the pseudonym ‘Vulcaan’, gaining the trust of the city’s Toa, the Contenders. Once inside, he smuggled in a machine called the IRM and unleashed it upon the denizens. Soon after, he was uncovered by Toa Krode, who had also migrated to Racta Magna, and promptly pummelled by the Contenders. Kunar was once again imprisoned, and while the Contenders were busy fighting the IRM, Kunar spoke with Krode. The rogue revealed that he had been sent by Dukrina as a distraction. As this point Dukrina’s master, Makuta Reshak, snuck into the city while it was undefended. The Contenders then fought with this new threat.

The rogue remained incarcerated for quite some time, until he was freed by the Dark Hunter Sohbec under the request of a creature named Shadonax. He took the IRM with him and also enlisted the aid of a mad Matoran named Doctor Forgen. The group went to Shadonax in Racta Minus and awaited the arrival of the Contenders, who were sure to quickly follow. It took about a fortnight for the Contenders to finally arrive, and thus a battle commenced. Kunar fought one-on-one with one of the Contenders, another Toa of Air named Dorru, but the fight ended prematurely on Shadonax’s death. As the group disbanded, Kunar wandered off with Doctor Forgen into Racta Minus; they rebuilt the IRM together and used it to terrorise two of the Contenders, Montu and Cilla; the villainous trio were eventually repelled. They next allied with a group named the Toa of Racta Minus (shortened to Torm), corrupting their leader Anut and convincing him to expel his partner, Tyranca.

Anut appointed Kunar and Forgen as his advisers for a short while, before being invited to join the Platonic Justice, a group of villains seeking to take over Racta Major, to which Kunar pressured Anut into accepting. The Torm leader began to doubt his decision, especially unsettled by being in the company of villains; Kunar reassured him and compelled him to continue. Eventually, the Platonic Justice did battle with the Contenders; during this battle, Kunar and Forgen were defeated, Anut was killed and the movement disintegrated. Kunar sought to return to the Torm, but was promptly expelled by Anut’s successor, Toa Skartau. He thus parted ways with Forgen and found a new ally, the villainess Depravitie. Together they stole the Mask of Creation, which had fallen through a portal from a parallel dimension, and begun causing havoc. The Contenders soon confiscated the Mask from Depravitie, and she retreated with Kunar back into Racta Minus.

When the Shadebringers conquered Racta Major and cast their shadow over the world, Kunar and Depravitie migrated and set up residence in the city. Kunar remained there for some time, and even helped the others to fight off the Contenders when they attempted to re-take the city. He would again help when the Champions of Day, an assembly of heroes orchestrated by Toa Raxonax, attacked the city. He helped to fight them outside, quickly retreating back into the city.

Kunar is currently in Racta Major.

BOOM! I tried to keep the same aesthetic while also making him appear cleaner, taller and thicker. I think it turned out alright. As usual though, I highly encourage criticism!

The back.

Him with his staff! Same design, with more stuff added to it.

Attaching to his back. A tad awkward, as it's so long, but what can ya do?

Creating a ball of air.

Firing it off!

With Toa Onua!

His current partner in crime, Doctor Forgen!

My two green rogue Toa: Dukrina and Kunar!

Kunar vs Dorru.

Kunar ~X~ Krode: I ship it.

That's all, folks!

Won't be posting anything Friday next week, but the day after that is the 19th of December, which means:

CONTENDERS TIME!

See you then!

Quoting CreatorTheta (I'm Demontile if you didn't know) I do really like the idea of you changing your mocs to suit how the generations of today's Bionicles are. Also, I am going to being building your self moc, So what I want to know if you prefer a similar style to him now (A bit shorter like now http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/386208) or his older, taller form. (I will most likely moc the current version as I really like it, but if you wish, I could make him taller)
Thanks man! I would be very grateful if you end up building Raxonax, and I would suggest going with the current form, though if you would prefer to make it like the older one then I won't complain! :D

Quoting ~ Omega ~ It looks good, however those technic liftarms on the lower legs ruin the overall shape of the moc imho. The backstory is great as with every character of yours. About the cape someone suggested, I would say use the same design Captain Phasma ultrabuild uses or try to go for a scarf like the one Blizzard self moc uses.
Thanks Omega! Yeah I agree, they are kind of disruptive to the overall shaping, but unfortunately they're integral to keeping the shins in one piece. Yeah, I still think the Phasma cape would look a little too regal for the character. The scarf idea could work, though it would have to be much thinner and lighter than Blizzard's. I may make something for him, but for now, he'll just go bare-necked.

Quoting Earu ,the Wise One Nice, but I do think that the legs are a tad thick in proportion to his arms. Also, you are releasing the new contenders directly after Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released. Double Hype!
Thanks! Consider it to be like baggy trousers :P and well, I didn't know that Star Wars comes out friday!... It's a good job I delayed it a day, isn't it?

Quoting RaptorTalon ~ Heh, I can imagine him dressing all fancy to make himself look more special and powerful then he is. like he is the "King of the rouges"
Heh,maybe, though I can't imagine him caring about status or power all too much.

Quoting Chains Productions Nice job. I've noticed something about your MOCs. When at a idle, front facing stance, they look kind of strange but in any other pose they look fantastic. I think that's why some of my reviews for your MOCs have been a bit mixed at times. Anyway, I quite like this MOC, if slightly unoriginal. The overall build is nice and the lower legs look really good. You do a good job mixing simplicity and complexity. I think the upper legs look a bit too wide and bulky and overall I think the legs are a tad too long . I also think the upper arms quite gappy and rigid. Overall, a nice MOC! Good job Wert!
Thanks! I'm a big fan of the Jack Kirby dynamic posing thing, so I guess I unconsciously design my MOCs so that they look better in some dynamic pose :P yeah, the legs are a little long, I tried to make the torso longer to balance that out a bit, but it kind of ruined the torso, so I changed it back. I kinda wanted to fill out those upper arms too, but I have to have the gap to make sure the arms can bend properly. Thanks again Chains!

Quoting RaptorTalon ~ Very nice! I like his taller, more filled out look. he certainly looks better. but I agree with Dragoneye, he needs more texture. and maybe a cape, capes are cool.
Thanks! Yeah, I might add some spikes or something. I might try the cape, see if that works, but I don't think I want him looking too royal/powerful, as I don't think it really suits his character. I will try it anyway though

Quoting Dragoneye Creations I love this version of Kunar. Although, I'm not a big fan of his overall simplistic look, so I would give him more rogue-like features (not sure how to do that doh). Overall, Kunar is looking good. Add a bit more uniqueness to him and you'll be set. Keep it up, Werty!
Thanks Dragoneye! Were you referring to giving him a more jagged, rough appearence, like using spikes or something?
