Raxonax V2
So today is my five year MOCcaversary, which is why today I've decided to do something special for y'all. I've already posted part one of that something, which is Contenders #17. Part two is this: Toa Raxonax, my self MOC, upgraded!
About this creation
Five years ago, I published my very first post: the original version of Toa Raxonax.

Five years later, I'm posting the sixth version of my self MOC (which is labelled V2 due to my mid-2014 "reboot", but technically this is V6) for you all to enjoy.

So, enjoy!

“The first was Toa Raxonax; he is the Ego, the consciousness, the ‘I’- the guiding force that makes the everyday choices and decisions.”
-Narrator, The Contenders #12

Raxonax:
Raxonax is a Toa of Gravity and a member of the Contenders; he is a corporeal manifestation of his own Ego, being one of three beings separated from a single form. He is a fierce and brutish fighter, which can serve as both an advantage and a detriment, given the context. Out of battle however, he is generally quiet, reasonably friendly and quite approachable. He has been known to succumb to violent fits of rage under pressure, and his conflicts with the evil Shadonax have led some to believe he is schizophrenic; this assumption is not entirely impertinent given that he, Shadonax and the beast named Idonax were all originally one person.

Raxonax was a Ba-Matoran on Racta Magna, who was abducted by the planet’s tyrant, the Shadow Entity, at a very young age. He was experimented on, the results of which caused his soul to split into three. What remained of Raxonax, now a Toa, managed to escape, the memory of what had been done to him fading quickly. He was trained by Turaga Trokan, just in time to participate in a war with the Makuta Sombrak, dubbed the ‘Days of Shadowed Magna.’ He travelled a lot after the war, until he was informed of the presence of a being named Shadonax, one of the severed fragments of his mind. He set out on a long quest to find this creature. Here, he met a robot named Clank and Toa named Galia, the latter becoming his lover for a while before breaking up with him. Raxonax’s duel with Shadonax ended in stalemate, with the villain seemingly disappearing off the face of the planet.

He later participated in many adventures, including aiding the Order of Mata Nui, and later a Toa named Montu, fight the Sombrak. Raxonax then lived peacefully for a while with Galia and Clank, in a secret location outside of Racta Major. It was here that Galia gave to Raxonax the Elemental Staff of Fire to look after, which with her permission, he gave to Toa Benu upon hearing that the Sombrak were going to invade Racta Major. He then accompanied Benu and his friends to Racta Minus to find more allies, briefly encountering Shadonax. Raxonax helped battle the Sombrak for the last time at the gates of Racta Major. When the battle ended, Raxonax returned home with Galia and Clank, resuming their regular lives. Three years later, Toa Dorru invited them to join a Toa team known as the Contenders. Raxonax’s first contribution to the group was to help battle a rogue Matoran dubbed Doctor Forgen, during which Raxonax was driven to great anger, lashing out at him.

Such intense rage attracted the attention of Shadonax, who tried to telepathically contact the Toa. Raxonax thought he was going insane until it was clarified by Turaga Galika that these images originated from an external source. This did not stop the intensity of the hallucinations, as he accidentally wounded a fellow Contender, Toa Cilla, as a result. After a temporary incarceration, Raxonax was taken by the Turaga to telepathically talk with Shadonax. The two of them proposed battling in Racta Minus, after the Contenders had defeated Makuta Reshak, the last surviving member of the Sombrak. They met as agreed, and Raxonax ended up killing his foe; he was allowed to keep his title with the help of a friend, Toa Krode. Raxonax soon struggled with a creature named Idonax, which kept following him and forcing him to act on his urges, snapping at Montu and confessing rekindled love to Galia. He soon made peace with the beast and allowed it to leave. He wouldn’t find out until much later that Idonax was another missing fragment of his mind.

One day, a villain named Dread arrived at the gates demanding that Mary Windbird, a hero in Racta Major, be handed over. When refused, Dread and his gang attacked the city. Raxonax helped the hero Jack Lupus fight one of Dread’s servants, Voltwhip, and repulsed the gang. They then set out to track down Voltwhip; during this mission, Raxonax reunited with Idonax and defeated the villain together. Raxonax returned to Racta Major with Idonax in the hopes of studying it. Soon after, the Contenders fought Dread’s gang once again, this time resulting in the death of Jack Lupus. They responded by setting out to fight Dread’s new army, the Platonic Justice; they were defeated, but unfortunately Windbird perished in the battle. In addition to this, the Gate, a mystical doorway to the afterlife, was destroyed during the battle; the Contenders later dealt with the side effects of this: namely returning the denizens of Okoto back to a portal created by the Gate’s destruction.

The most severe fallout of the Gate’s destruction was the resurrection of Raxonax’s old foe, Shadonax. They would soon seek each other out and clash once again; Shadonax emerged the victor, decapitating Raxonax and defeating the other Contenders. The Toa remained dead for several days, before being resurrected by Shadonax; he discovered in horror that Racta Major had in fact been enslaved and the world cast into darkness. After toying with him, Shadonax imprisoned his foe with the other Contenders; Raxonax rallied the others into taking back their old city, though this ploy failed and they were returned to their cells. The Toa was then freed by a rogue servant of Shadonax; he travelled to Racta Minus, where he would meet with Thanatos, the Torm and the Hero Factory allies from before; together they formed the Champions of Day, setting out to siege Racta Major.

Raxonax has just successfully lead the Champions of Day to the outskirts of Racta Major.

TA DA! I tried to maintain a similar aesthetic to the last version, as I did kinda like the general look of the last version. In this version, I tried to amend some of the things that people were not so keen on in the last version, while also making him seem a little more stocky and impressive. I'm generally satisfied with the results, though the arms aren't as articulated as I might like them to be, but I still think it's good!

The back.

His sword! It's pretty much exactly the same as the original design, though this time it looks HUGE on him!

Attached to his back.

With Ekimu the Mask Maker.

Fighting off Skull Scorpios.

Height comparison with the Jankori.

Riding Idonax. It's not a comfortable fit, but it works!

Stood with Tyranca!

The Contenders! (and Takathorax's memorial :'( )

That's all for Raxonax!

Update time!
So today's issue of the Contenders will be the last one of the year. There'll be a couple of weeks without anything new (asides from reviews, hopefully) at the beginning of the year, but on January 16th, Contenders Book 2: Platonic Justice will commence!

To satiate your curiosity, here is the list of issues for that series:

Book 2: Platonic Justice:

#18: Liberation
#19: Like Old Times
#20: Requests
#21: Rogues’ Revenge
#22: Mary’s Crime
#23: Acceptance
#24: The Clash
#25: Taming the Beast
#26: Tusk and Antler
#27: The Lost Children
#28: Depravitie
#29: The Core Eater
#30: Uprising
#31: Closing the Gate
#32: The Green Light

So yeah, I imagine I'll have one more MOC for 2015, and then I can start thinking about 2016!

A lot's happened in five years, and it's been wonderful for me. Let's hope for many more years of awesomeness!

Stay cool.

UPDATE 12/8/16:
I made a few changes to Raxonax's legs- I added a friction adder to his thighs, lengthening them. I also changed out the feet, something people have been wanting me to do for a while- less custom, but slightly more proportionate. I also took out the 1x2 system plates on the sides, to make the shins seem less boxy.

Quoting Ben Cossy Looking excellent dude! Love the shoulder design, gone for a simpler yet much more desirable look, it's great!
Thanks Ben! Yeah, I guess I'm going for a more definitive look this time around :D

Quoting jedidiah munsell .....I just realised that both the Gastoks and Edoth are both on the the good guys side on your new poster...interesting...
Indeed. Bear in mind that that doesn't necesserily mean that they're good guys...

Quoting Saxton aka That Tahu Guy I feel like the lower legs are completely unproportionate to the upper legs with the, what looks like, unnecessary liftarms, which I suppose are there for bulk anyway, but my point is they're too thick for the upper legs. And the back of the legs isn't too good either. But, these are my personal opinions, therefore, if you feel like they are good designs and whatnot, you may keep them. I still feel like this is a substantial upgrade to the last version. Keep up the hard work.
Thanks for the comment, but the liftarms aren't there for bulk; they're locking the balljoints in place so that they don't rotate and cause the rest of the MOC to flop fowards or backwards at the knees. People don't seem too keen on the shins, so I may change the design at some point. Thanks for the feeback!

Quoting Yuri Fassio You have come a long way. I envy you, I'm basically the same I was in 2007 lol
Heh well, thank you. If that's true, and judging by the looks of your latest MOCs, you've maintained a high quality for 8 years, which is just as impressive :P

Thanks Pakari! Yeah, I'm so glad about that, I've never really been able to get his neck right, like, ever. It would mostly be too long, but whenever I tried to shorten it, it just looked like he had no neck (examplified here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/245508)

Quoting jedidiah munsell I must agree with puff about everything, but also I think the ankles need to thicken up to the the size of his lower leg. And the feet may have to change sometime, and maybe his lower legs are to blocky.
Thanks for the comment! I mostly agree, though I can't imagine that bulking up his lower leg would stop them from being blocky, and also I personally quite like the feet, as I said to Ben Veazey. Still, thanks again!

Quoting Puff the Magic Thunderbird Those upper arms are gorgeous. The only thing I think you could fix, what you already mentioned, is the articulation especially in the elbows. Other than that, he's great, and I look forward to seeing more from you.
Heh, thanks! And they're really quite simple as well! Though the lack of articulation is somewhat depressing :P

Quoting JosephC 123 Nice hands! Nice to see someone not relying on HF parts! Incredible story too! Not sure how you find time or inspiration to make so many comics, but you do it quite well! Keep up the good work.
Thanks! Yeah, usually I find HF parts extraordinarily useful, and I don't like to knock 'em (at least, not anymore), but I wanted to have this one have that good ol' fashioned G1 look :D Yeah, it's done somewhat to the detriment to other things, like having a social life, but seeing as so many people like them, I feel like it's a worthy sacrifice :P

Quoting X ~ Huge improvement over the previous form. Only issue I can find, that matters, is the lack of shaping on the lower legs. They look like boxes. Other than that, good job. Happy 5th Mociversary, Werty.
Thanks X, good to see you around still! Yeah, the squareness is a bit of an issue, but I'm just glad they weren't really squashed like the version. And these ones are poseable! :3

Quoting Chains Productions WOWZA! (I had to :P) Happy MOCaversary man! I really like this version. I expected this guy to be a lot taller than the other MOCs as they all look quite squat and smaller, but he isn't. He looks lanky without making him too tall. The new shoulders are also really good. They look a lot more technical, but similar enough to show a good progression. There's not much else to say. He mostly has the same look whilst still improving. Good work! Also, the new Contenders book looks really cool! (Expecially with HF involved.) Good job!
Thanks! I did actually want to make him taller than he is right now, but it did not look good at all. I'm glad you like the shoulders! I did struggle to make some that looked good while being short enough to work in proportion to the rest of the body, and although the build I ended up using is a little... unorthadox... it does end up looking quite nice. Thanks again man!
